Will absolutely place this in my office. This has great mindfulness tools I can recommend to my students.
Enjoyable, short reminders of how to take better care of ourselves! :) The entire book can be read in one afternoon.
I'm so sorry to say but this book was not what I expected and finally found myself scanning pages in hope to find the author in there. It was boring. đ
This is a great little book that can easily be read in one sitting (I just did that) or can be flipped through to the Tool you want to use or learn about. Each tool is a new chapter of only a few pages - not super in depth but a good idea on how each can be used and help one with anxiety. A lot of the tools the author writes about are ones I have learned over the years with dealing with my own anxiety and others are new ones I may not have used or known about. I would like to one day try Rieki, I do sometimes go for a massage and really find they help.
This would make a great gift for friends and family, also a great book to keep on hand to remind us that there are tons of different tools we can add to own our Wellness Toolbox. It is easy to say you will do them when you are stressed or anxious but putting them into everyday life helps make it easier to use when really needed or also helps to relieve stress before it gets out of hand.
I give this self help book a 4 out of 5 stars.
The set up of this book is great. Love the chapters and idea behind each chapter. It's a great beginners guide and a awesome resourse to have on hand.
In todays overwhelming supply of books on mindfulness and wellnes...it just doesn't stand out. It's not original enough to be a best seller. That does not make it bad by any means... just a handy resource of common sense approaches to bettering yourself
this book is amazing !
alison is amazing and as your reading this book its like listening to your friend.
amazing helpful tips and tricks which i now use
ive recommended this too so many people
My Wellness Toolbox by Alison Swift is a collection the strategies that she gradually accumulated through her recovery journey after hitting her own rock bottom. Â Rather than preaching what does work, she shares what has worked for her so others struggling with their mental health can get some ideas to try out for themselves. Â The book feels like the author is talking with rather than at the reader.
The book is short at only 49 pages, and provides bite-sized chapters for each individual tool, making it very easy to read. Â Each tool is given effectiveness and ease ratings out of ten, and an approximate cost is provided. Â The author also describes how different tools can be used together, and gives practical examples of how the tools can be implemented. Â Inspirational quotes are used to support several of the tools.
The tools include a broad range of different activities. Â Some take very little effort, like using essential oils. Â Other tools take more work but have a big potential payoff, such as cognitive behavioural therapy and working on acceptance. Â There are tools that can be used solo, as well as some that can be used interpersonally. Â Most of the tools can be used by anybody, with the notable exception of hypnobirthing.
Not all of the tools are things that work for me, but that didn't detract from my appreciation of the book overall, and I think there's enough of a range that there is something for everyone in this book.
While this book would probably be the most useful for people in the earlier part in their recovery journey, it still includes good ideas for anyone, as well as good reminders of the tools we may already be using. Â We all need to have a wellness toolbox, and the more tools that we can find that work for us the better.
I loved the book for being personal and practical. Short but precise and useful. Congrats for the author.
My Wellness Toolbox is a compact book about dealing with anxiety. In this book, Alison shares 26 tools she has used to overcome anxiety and depression and encourages the reader to apply some of these concepts to improve one's mental health and well-being.
I received this free copy from NetGalley.
I enjoyed the context and practical way the writer proposed her wellness toolbox. Many things may help get someone through the darkness and foginess of depression and/or anxiety. What works for one, is not necessarily right for another. Her tips were ones that anyone could use, and ones that I do use.
I found it a simple and effective little book that provided a nice insight into one womanâs wellness journey. I think it would be helpful and beneficial for others.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review.
This was a lovely, simple and wholly positive guide to maintaining mental wellbeing. The author has clearly been on a life journey that she has thought about and reflected on, and feels she has become a better person for it. As readers, luckily for us, she has chosen to share it. Each individual section contains a suggested 'tool' that she has found helpful, how it has been applied to the author, and a rough guide to its accessibility for other people.
A thoroughly accessible guide which I fully recommend and endorse.
A variety of methods and tips for dealing with anxiety and low mood. I found it all a bit obvious and done before though so not hugely helpful.
Helpful little book and lots of ideas to add to one's wellness toolbox. I really enjoyed the set up of the book- describing the tool, rating it's effectiveness and ease and discussing costs. There aren't really any new ideas in here but it is always helpful to have these reminders and great suggestions that anyone can add to their own toolbox. I think adding illustrations would give a nice touch to the book. Thank you for the ARC copy!
The author writes about 26 tools that have helped her become better at dealing with anxiety. It ranges from the common 'more water' to the unique 'hypnobirthing'.
Some of the ideas made sense to me while the others were a complete miss like the law of attraction. But as a fellow traveller on the anxiety journey, I don't judge. I know it is a difficult life to live and whatever helps is good.
I am going to try affirmations and a couple of things that I haven't already been doing.
A notable absence was meditation and mindfulness. Although the author did include breathing, no formal meditation or mindfulness was talked about and it is one of the important tools in my toolbox.
I give this book 3.5 stars. The writing is simple and doesn't lag.

A very good introductory book about the mindfulness and wellness. Alison covers many of the important concepts about the meditation, essential oils, Reiki, holistic therapy and many others tools.
This is an amazing anthology of tips and tricks that can help anyone through a crisis or episode when it comes to mental health.
Theyâre all here, in one place. Things youâve tried, things youâve thought to try and even things that you didnât even know were a thing.
Itâs clear, it gives you an idea of how useful it is and even gives you that hope thatâs you are not alone.
The author talks the reader through some of the things that have helped her to beat crippling anxiety - her Wellness Toolbox. As someone who is very affected by anxiety myself, a lot of these tips weren't new to me but some of them were. It was interesting to read how these tips had helped Alison and her personal experiences help you to feel that you too can overcome anxiety by using them. I'd recommend this guide as a nice introduction to how you can help yourself to beat anxiety without medications.
