Book six in the Undercover FBI series a well written suspense story that kept me turning pages. Special Agent Charli Madison and Blake Sebastian a local FLPD Major's story there is suspense, drama, danger, villains, and romance.
Really enjoyed this book and really felt for the characters but found a couple of bits a little bit un realistic. Thank you Netgalley
This is my first book by Mimi Barbour, and as other reviewers have said, it is a standalone read. And yes, it does have everything we expect in a really good book. There is a combination of crime drama, suspense, a bit of romance, family, and many other adjectives that would fit this story nicely. It did drag just a bit for me midstream in the story, but picked up the pace again and made this book one for your library. I look forward to reading more of Mimi Barbour's books and would like to thank NetGalley and Sarna Pub. for gifting me "Special Agent Charli". My opinion is my own. This is mine. 4.5 Stars! I also own a copy of this book.
I absolutely loved this book it was intriguing and suspenseful and a fabulous read and I recommend giving it a try
Special Agent Charli is a good romantic suspense. I enjoyed the plot, author’s writing and the cast of characters. I wish I had read previous books prior to this book. I received an arc from Netgalley and this is my unbiased review.
Wonderful Book. Great read. I had never read a book by this author, but the story line was good, and the characters were so believable.
All of the characters worked so well together; no one was more important than the other. This is a story about characters who are in the Witness Protection Program, but, it is far from typical. You will not believe what happens.
This story is suspenseful, and also, partly funny. A must read!
Since this book is actually part of a series, and not the first book, I will go back and read more about Special Agent Charli! You should too!
Entertaining enough read with a kick-ass, family-lovin', vulnerable heroine. What puzzled me was how her mother's father had the same last name as her (considering she had married parents) and how Blake's shoulder fared at the end. There were other hiccups that made me pause, as well as, some references to her ward's mixed race ethnicity that I wasn't sure were very PC (constant references to her Chinese eyes <-- there's gotta be a better way to describe those).
I love this entire series. After reading this I had to go and buy the rest of the books. The writing and entertainment found in this book made me not want to put it down. I loved the connection between Charli and the Blake and the angst that they also felt made it that much more entertaining to read. This was a fun, fast, and twisting story. Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read and write about this book.
**I received a copy of Special Agent Charli from Harlequin-Carina Press and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. **
Special Agent Charli by Mimi Barbour is the sixth book in her Undercover FBI Book. Even though I haven't read any of the previous books I believe that it can be read as a standalone easily. I give the story a 4.5 star rating mostly because of Poppa John as he's a firecracker for being 90 years young and still has the energy to keep up with 2 teen girls.
Charli has just come off of a brutal long undercover job for the FBI and is looking forward to her vacation with her grandfather Poppa John. But when a young girl frantically knocks on her door after witnessing a hit man kill a woman little does she realize that she'll be taking having to postpone it and go into witness protection with Kayla instead of her "Popsicle". She'll meet Blake who seems to have women everywhere and another teen, Angie, who also needs protecting. Will she be able to trust Blake when he tells her that she the woman whom he wants not all the other ladies?
Blake is a major at his local police department when a friend calls in a favor to help guard a FBI agent and a girl who witnessed one of the most wanted hit men, Silverado, kill a woman. He'll soon become very protective of them much to the dismay of Charli who doesn't want help. But when Poppa John and the girls go missing Blake will step up to help find them and realize that with Charli and the girls he's found the family he's always wanted.
Do love this series, and glad to see another by this author.
We meet Charli, a young teen who has been in the foster care, again, as a baby sitter while the couple and friends are out on the town, other then that she was not wanted. She witness a murder of a neighbor and they throw her out. With that Caroline, vacation is gone, as they go into witness protection. To work with her is a burn out captain, his life of womanizing and friends having kids, he is rethinking this life style. They don’t like one another, with working the case, they must. It is tense, packed with action and you love Charli and Caroline. Given ARC by Net Galley and Sarna Publisher for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
A love Mimi Barbour stories. She has a heart of gold for her art. I loved Papa John especially his nickname “Popsicle”. Despite all the high drama and the bad things, the love of family is always present. You cannot help but fall in love with her characters and make them life long friends.
Absolutely outstanding.
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Special Agent Charli . I was drawn in at the beginning and I really could not nor did I want to put it down . I must say this story this story is fantastic . Special Agent Carolina Madison FBI is in charge of protecting Alicia Shoal a teenager in a not so nice foster home that witnessed a Hitman killing a woman . The Hitman is cleaning up his loose ends .Blake Sabastian Major of Florida support service Bureau is assigned to help Carolina (Charli ) protect Alicia .
I must say this is very action packed and suspenseful along with intriguing story . The storyline is fabulous . I love all the characters so unique and interesting . I especially love Poppa John he stole my heart . I highly recommend reading this story it has everything suspense, intrigue , humor ,action , love ,and a happy ending . A must read .
One again lesson learned do not start on book 6 of a series even if someone tells you it can be read as a stand lone novel.
With that being said I plan to go back and read book 1-5 because the characters, story line and the authors ability to pull readers in from first to last characters had this readers hooked.
Special Agent Charli has a little bit of everything readers of this genre will love; Romance, Suspense, strong feisty female lead as well as what family is truly meant to be.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Sarna Publishing for a copy of Mimi Barbour Special Agent Charli
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to review this book.
This was my first book by Mimi Barbour. It was an easy to read romantic thriller. The characters were well written, the storyline was quite good but it lacked depth and intensity.
