I love a Christmas story, and this had all the elements to make a good one. A fractured family whose past still has a hold over them. Sisters struggling in their own lives, and trying to gesture their bond. Well written, and captivating. A heartwa4ming tale to enjoy with a hot chocolate and a blanket

I initially struggled with this book trying to work with the characters and their stories, but suddenly it clicked and I began to understand them. I think it was when the story of the girls' life with their parents began to unfold, their individual relationships with their climbing-mad father and his total lack of emotional intelligence and their mother who deferred continually to him. The way that they were so less important than the climb. And were abandoned when the baby-sitters went home because they weren't paid enough. The fact that their differences in personality were unimportant as the climb was the thing and if you couldn't climb...
That is when I began to invest in the story.
I felt that the book needed something more to attract the reader in the introductory chapters and not just the descriptions of the Scottish Highlands, which whilst very attractive and 'romantic' especially for a reader who has never seen them in snow, for those who have, and know just how cold and treacherous it is there ...
Yes, Scotland is very romantic but also very cold and often very cut off!
Truthfully, I nearly put the book down but it was rescued by he later chapters when we began to learn just why Hannah was troubled. And as for Beth I empathise having 2 children in a small central city flat and wanting to get rid of the brain that had stopped functioning on anything other than child-centred activities.
So overall, the author wrote nicely but it needed, for me, a more humorous take on the story.

A really enjoyable book about down to earth family life with a couple of unexpected events thrown in. It made great holiday reading for me and I whole heartedly recommend it.

Suzanne McBride wants a Christmas at home with all her girls and for all of them to be content and happy. But that doesn't appear to be as straight forward as it may be. Take Hannah who didn't return to the Scottish Highlands the year before and toys with the idea of not going again. But then she decides to do something complete out of character and go home early. What about Beth? She appears to have a life of domestic bliss. But she feels like she has lost skills since she has been a stay at home Mum for the past 7 years. So when she is offered a job by her old boss she feels encouraged. But her husband has other ideas and a new job promotion. The only one who is still living at home is Posy, the youngest. But is she content. And what is going on with the mysterious Luke, their lodger.
A delightful festive read.

Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. What a lovely Xmas book to get you in the mood for Xmas. The characters in this book are just lovely. Read it

A fairly typical novel in this genre. Misunderstood sisters who pull together in the end. However I really enjoyed this book. I associated with the characters. It was easy to read and had an interesting story.

A Christmas comfort read from Sarah Morgan - a family get together, high tensions, secrets and highs and lows of family life but wrapped up in a festive and heartwarming bundle. A genuinely touching tale and perfect for a cold winters night next to the fire with a mug of hot choc. Recommended for some, possibly well needed, Christmas escapism.

A lovely, cosy Christmas read. Like a fuzzy blanket it warms the heart. Thank you for the chance to review.

The Christmas Sisters is a heart-warming Christmas read. It’s a little cliché at times but in a good way because in my opinion a good Christmas book should always be full of clichés.
When the McBride sisters were young their parents were killed in an avalanche of which their adopted mother Suzanne was the only survivor. The accident happened shortly before Christmas and therefore that time of year is always hard for the family, doubly so because there is an unspoken agreement to never talk about it.
The book begins with a chapter written from the point of view of Suzanne in which she is discussing the upcoming festive period with her husband Stewart. Stewart doesn’t understand why she puts so much pressure on herself about the Christmas period, but he doesn’t understand that she doesn’t find it stressful because it is the one time her family all get together.
Hannah McBride is the eldest sister and keeps everyone, even her family at a distance. She is a successful business woman and is always travelling first class somewhere and lives a champagne lifestyle. She is so busy that she doesn’t have time to see her sister Beth and her kids who also lives in Manhattan. Hannah avoided being home for Christmas last year but this year a surprise event sees her fleeing home for the festive period.
Beth McBride spends her days looking after her two girls Rosy and Melly. She feels as though she is barely managing to keep up with the childcare and the housework and in the process, she has lost herself. When an old colleague offers her job, she can’t help but consider it but when she brings it up with her husband Jason the resulting argument leads to her running off to Scotland early and leaving her husband to look after the kids.
Posy McBride lives in Scotland with her parents and helps out in the café run by her mother. She is an active member of the local mountain rescue team – something which terrifies Suzanne. When her parents, lodger offers her the chance to go with him on the trip of a lifetime will she go with him or will her sense of duty stop her.
It has been years since the sisters were all in one place together and with Suzanne out of action with the flu will the sisters be able to put aside their resentments and make Christmas as special as she hoped it would be?
If you are looking for a book to cosy up with over the festive period, The Christmas Sisters is it.

The CHristmas sisters are the McBride sisters: Posy, Hannah and Beth. All returning to Scotland for Christmas and all with some drama in their lives. A great read.

When I think of a cosy Christmas read, I imagine a beautifully written, heartwarming story about a family coming together during the holidays...and all the juicy drama that comes along with that. And that's exactly what The Christmas Sisters is.
Because of a tragedy in their childhood, Christmas is hard for Hannah, Beth, and Posy McBride. Each and them, along with their mother, Suzanne, deal with the holiday in a different way. Hannah is a powerful career woman that tries to avoid the holiday altogether; Beth, a stay-at-home mom, tries to paint a fairytale Christmas for her two daughters; and, Posy, the youngest, spends her time helping her mother create a perfect Christmas at their family home in Scotland.
But it's almost never the picture perfect Christmas that Suzanne wants. As Christmas approaches, the three sisters arrive home to Scotland, each one of them facing a life-changing event that they are struggling to deal with, and struggling even more to open up about to their sisters.
This touching story covers everything: the bond of sisterhood, the relationship with parents, overcoming a tragedy, and realizing that family is often the best medicine. This is the perfect book for a snowy, December night. I look forward to reading more from Sarah Morgan!

The title fits this book perfectly. What a fabulous and heart-warmingly festive story. The author has a wonderful way of writing, Sarah Morgan has written each and every chapter with thoughtfulness, love, care and sensitivity. The passion that she has for this story shines through completely.
Each chapter is focused on one particular character and how they are feeling, how they have reached the point in their lives that they are now at. This is a fantastic way of really getting to know and understand why the characters have the personality and feelings that they are trying to cope with.
The past and present lives of the three sisters Hannah, Beth and Posy, are intense, strong minded, calm, bitter, caring, heartfelt, and loving all in equal measures. That is what makes this such a great book. The men in the lives of the sisters are very strong characters and are well placed in the chapters making the story fit together like a jigsaw, as are Suzanne and Stewart.
It is so beautiful the way that the family come together at Christmas how the title 'The Christmas Sisters' came to be.
A perfect read and a lovely gift for an avid reader that enjoys a heartwarming tale.

After a tragic climbing accident which killed their parents, sisters Hannah, Beth and Posy are brought up by their mother’s friend Suzanne. 25 years after the event and the repercussions have affected everyone. Hannah loves numbers but avoids Christmas and emotional ties, Beth seems happily married with two children and Posy seems content to stay at home with Suzanne and eventually take over the coffee shop.
This Christmas everyone is together, secrets, truths and aspirations are opened for scrutiny.
Sarah Morgan writes wonderful family books which draw you into the not always cosy dramas of everyday life. The characters become friends and although you rush towards the finish, the ending is always bittersweet as you want to carry on reading about their lives.

This is a first for me by this author... but it won't be my last!
It’s not what’s under the Christmas tree, but who’s around it that matters most.
All Suzanne McBride wants for Christmas is her three daughters happy and at home. But when sisters Posy, Hannah and Beth return to their family home in the Scottish Highlands, old tensions and buried secrets start bubbling to the surface.
Suzanne is determined to create the perfect family Christmas, but the McBrides must all face the past and address some home truths before they can celebrate together . . .
A heart-warming read about 3 sisters coming together with their parents for Christmas and dealing with a past trauma, whilst also dealing with their individual major life problems.
Perfect for snuggling under a blanket with a hot cup of cocoa whilst the fire burns on a cold winter evening.
Thank-You Netgalley for my ARC.

The story follows three sisters who were adopted by Suzanna and Stewart as children after the death of their parents. Hannah is the oldest, good at her job and wary of relationships, The story starts with her discovery that she is pregnant which terrifies her, She doesn’t tell the father, Adam, but flies home early for Christmas. Beth has two children and is a stay at home mother, Her husband wants her to have another child; she wants to go back to work. Finally there is Polly who still leaves near home and has started seeing Luke who we don’t know much about at the start. What follows is quite a sweet story of how each sister develops her relationship and the relationship between the three of them. It’s a gentle holiday read. Thanks to Netgalley for an advance copy.

This latest one from Sarah Morgan follows the lives of three sisters who are all coming together to spend Christmas in the Scottish Highlands with their adoptive parents, Suzanne and Stewart. Events that led to the girls being taken in by this loving couple 25 years ago are still having an effect on the family to this day, maybe spending some quality time together this year will help to resolve the issues and bring them closer, at least that's what Suzanne is hoping for as she tries to create the perfect Christmas for them all.
Each chapter alternates, giving the viewpoint of all four women, where they open up to each other as to what is happening presently in their lives and also going back into the past to reveal what happened on that tragic day and events leading up to it, shaping them into the people they are today.
This is an emotional story which highlights the strength of family ties, even when they're not all blood related. It also shows the lengths people will go to for those they love. I loved all the characters in this story, even Jason when he got his act together. Sarah Morgan is one of the authors I go to when I need a break from my usual genre of psychological thrillers and nothing lifts my spirits back up more than one of her feel good reads, especially a Christmassy one at this time of year. I highly recommend this book.
I'd like to thank Netgalley and HarperCollins UK for the approval and will post my review on Amazon and Goodreads.

Suzanne McBride is dreaming of a perfect Christmas as her three adopted daughters are coming home for the holidays. Beth, Hannah and Posy lost their biological parents to a tragic accident twenty five years ago. The accident still haunts Suzanne and the girls and has affected the women in different ways.
The book is set in Bonnie Scotland of which the author describes beautifully. The chapters alternate between the women. The message behind this story is to love, trust, accept yourself and the other people in your life. I would be happy if I received this book in my stocking this Christmas and I know a few friends who will like it too.
I would like to thank NetGalley, HarperCollins UK and the author Sarah Morgan for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book is well written with all of the main characters sharing the reader’s time who each show the importance of family in their own way. The strength of local community also came through which was enhanced by setting it in the snowy Scottish Highlands.
I would recommend this book, and thank HarperCollins and Netgalley for my advance copy.

It’s been a long time since I’ve felt so connected to a family in a book but boy did I take all three McBride sisters to mine! I simply adored how each sister thought the other two had their life together when the three of them had their own chaos going on. This book made me laugh, smile and hope that they all come through it in the end. It’s much better than your average ‘sisters don’t understand each other’ story. This story is about warmth, humour, challenges and how a family can change each other’s lives- highly recommend!!

A heartwarming story about the strength of family life. Christmas is always a poignant time for the family. Three sisters were orphaned 25 years previously in a mountain climbing accident then adopted by their birth mothers friend Suzanne. All four female characters have demons to face and they culminate on this particular Christmas. A genuine family story where truths are uncovered.
