Finally, it's Hadley turn! We first met Hadley in Eyes like Those, the first book in this tetralogy, and she was a character that stood out even then. Now she is struggling and has to collaborate with a cocky fashion designer. Inevitably, sparks fly and the two start to fall for each other. Brayden continues to thrive and this book is another winner.
An honest review thanks to NetGalley. I would highly recommend reading the previous books in this series before starting this one. This was my favorite in all the Seven Shores books. I loved Hadley from when we first met her in Isabelle's book. Hadley and Spencer's romance was an off the charts page turner. If you are in the mood for a fantastic romance with off the chart chemistry, this is the book for you!
This was a super cute and sweet romance. I've not read the rest of the series but I understood enough of it to enjoy the book. Hadley and Spencer were a great couple and I loved seeing their ups and downs. The design and fashion aspect was really interesting and I'd love to follow more Spencer and Hadley adventures.
I usually like Brayden’s books but this one wasn’t one of...my favourites. It felt a bit slow paced and whenever there’s a possible question of consent (even with kisses), it kind of throws me off.
"Follow me." Spencer smiled. "Anywhere"

I felt like I ought to read the last book to round things out in this series. I liked how Brayden mixed things up a little bit, delving into the realm of fashion with her two main characters and throwing in some different relationship twists. But I also don't think she went far enough to make it stand out: all four main characters of the Seven Shores series have the same kind of romance and life goals: all four want to get married and have kids, and it would have been great to have seen a more atypical relationship explored.
"You're Spencer Adair and you're going to do great things. I can feel that as plainly as I can feel how much this all hurts right now"
Hadley is happy-go-lucky, idealistic, and desperately waiting for her "big bang" moment where she meets the one. Spencer doesn't believe in "the one", but she does believe in working hard on her fashion brand and it has definitely paid off. Spencer is one up and coming designer and Hadley is trying to snag her clothes for the high-brand clothing store she works at. When they meet, sparks immediately fly, but it becomes clear that the two have different outlooks on life.
Like the other books in the series, Love Like This is easy to read, relaxing and fun. I enjoyed the sweetness of the romance and the friendship moments. But it's also really easy to guess where the plot is going and how everything will turn out. I want to be surprised! I want to truly be unsure about whether the characters will be able to work through their issues.
My thanks to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for an ARC of Love Like This
Aww! Such a sweet and romantic romance - and the last in the Seven Shores trilogy - sniff! The good thing, though, about favorite books is the fact that you can always reread them.
I really wanted to like this book. But the heroine, Hayden, was incredibly annoying. I can't believe in the journey if I don't like the heroine. I would be remise if I didn't mention the excessive use of the exclamation mark. In the first 7 chapters it was used seventy times. That was about 65 times too many. Not enough showing me the characters excitement, but rather telling me they were excited.
I adored this book and its characters. It is the last of the Seven Shores Romance series, but the first I've read. Certainly not the only one I'll read!
I loved the (semi-)slow burn romance of the two main characters. And how they both had their own family/friends they checked in with about the relationship and other parts of their lives.
Before they even meet, Hadley is interested in getting Spencer's designs into her upscale boutique. As they strategize how to do so, they start falling in love, even though Spencer doesn't believe in love. Spencer's opinions about love are due to her parents divorcing when Spencer was young. I loved how she changed her mind on that, and the catalyst for it.
One thing I thought was really interesting is Spencer's response to getting a better opportunity, which would force her to leave Hadley and her boutique stranded. And how they work through that.
This is a great ending to a fantastic series. Very likeable and well developed characters, great dialogue, well-paced romantic plot, engaging writing. Great to see Hadley finally find her happy ending and great to see a POC as one of the leads.

I could've finished this book if I had more time to dedicate it. I could've and I wanted to, until the first kiss between the MCs was clearly non consensual and romanticized. After that I tried to keep reading but I just can't get rid of the yucky feeling I had when I read that kiss
This is the fourth and last book in the Seven Shores series. What a wonderful series it has been! This book, like the other ones, can be read as a standalone, but by reading each book in order, you will find the story is enhanced by the building of the relationships over time.
The theme deals with the relationship between Hadley Cooper and Spencer Adair. Hadley is part of a group of four women who live at Seven Shores. They have morning coffee together and have developed very tight, supportive friendships.
Hadley is the assistant manager at Silhouette, an elite women’s fashion apparel store on Rodeo Drive. She loves her job, is crazy about fashion, and is often called upon for her excellent eye for clothes. She is a true romantic who enjoys reading romance books and is always the optimist.
Spencer is a designer of young women’s clothing. She has her line on the Internet and is starting to become recognized as an up and coming star in the field of fashion. A great opportunity arises for Spencer when Hadley contacts her to submit samples for a possible contract at Silhouette.
When Spencer and Hadley first meet, there is an instant attraction. Unlike the case in many romances, these main characters don’t immediately jump into bed. In order to meet the demands of Silhouette’s owner, they must work together to make changes to Spencer’s clothing line. These changes require a trust between Spencer and Hadley. It is through this working arrangement that they become closer and their attraction is explored.
Ms. Brayden has done an excellent job with this book! Not only has she provided readers an opportunity to learn of Hadley’s newly found romantic interest, Ms. Brayden has also given us a chance to continue to follow the evolution of the lives of the other three couples in the series. In addition, she has written an epilogue to provide us with an insight of what the future may hold for the ladies of Seven Shores.
I recommend this book and the series to anyone who enjoys romance and happy endings. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
I was given this ARC in return for a fair and honest review.
Ok this is the last book of this series so that mean I have to get the others to know about the other characters. As for this book I like the characters of Hadley and Spencer their chemistry was palpable and even though it was low on angst which sometimes I like more this couple didn't need it . It was a cute romance with nice dialogue and beautiful settings.
I received an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Melissa Brayden has now written two series for Bold Strokes Books: the Soho Loft Romance series and the Seven Shores Romance series. I’m a big fan of the Soho series. I have them in paperback, eBook, and audio. All told, I think I’ve gone through the series about 10 times (combining all formats). They’ve become comfort books for me.
With the Seven Shores books, Brayden has, in my opinion, really upped her game. (I don’t have these books in paperback, but I do have them in eBook and audio formats. I’ve gone through this series about 3 times – once reading, twice listening.) This series shows how Brayden has grown as an author. And, let’s be honest, she’s always been a good author.
The final book in the Seven Shores series, Love Like This, finally brings us to Hadley’s story. Hadley, the ever- optimistic woman who loves a good theme party (with costumes) and Barry Manilow, has spent the last two years watching her friends find love. And here she is, reading a book. Poor Hadley.
Fortunately, we quickly meet Spencer Adair. (The back cover tells us that “Spencer Adair has a passion for fashion, but hates the fact that it rhymes.”) Elle briefly mentioned Spencer in Sparks Like Ours when Hadley brought up her search for a great clothing designer. Once again, Brayden sets it up early.
Right from the top, Hadley and Spencer are physically attracted to each other, but their personalities are remarkably different. As is their outlook on love and relationships. Hadley believes in forever love. Spencer believes in chapters. It makes for an interesting courtship. And, oh my dear goodness, do we learn a thing or two about Hadley!
What I especially love about this final book of the series is how Brayden has kept all of her characters true to form throughout. And now, we get a full picture. A character can make a comment and, without a dialogue tag line, we know exactly who says it…because, of course she did. Similarly, the secondary characters have remained throughout all four books – Larry Herman and his infatuation with Hadley; Stephanie and her one-liners as she simply walks through a scene. This book was, perhaps, the funniest of all of them. I spent a lot of time really laughing!
Brayden is a master of the epilogue and she doesn’t disappoint here. Since this is the last book in the series, it’s important to have a wrap up for everyone, not just Hadley and Spencer. This epilogue is satisfying. It answers the right questions, but also leaves tiny openings should Brayden ever choose to visit Seven Shores again later. (Perhaps a short story or a novella?)
Reading a Brayden is like wrapping yourself in a soft blanket and taking an afternoon nap on your favourite couch. A warm, comfortable and delicious indulgence. This is what Love Like This was for me. I enjoyed it like I enjoy all of the author's books. It wasn't as compelling as some of her other books, but an fun read nonetheless.
The novel felt more like a story about friendship than romance, but that is absolutely fine with me. It was nice to have the last book in the series dedicated to all the friends rather than just one couple. A part of me wishes there was a fifth book that was exclusively about the friends and from each of their perspectives.
Looking forward to what Ms Brayden comes up with next.
I’m not sure how she does it but Melissa Brayden novels always make me so happy. They are funny and warm-hearted and always moving.
Case in point: Love Like This, the fourth book in this series. I haven’t read the previous three books but that didn’t interfere with my ability to enjoy this story. Although I will surely be reading them as soon as possible so I can experience Hadley’s friends’ stories!
Hadley is the reason to read this one. She is such a literal ray of sunshine, one of those people who makes you feel better simply be being in their presence. This kind of character could come across as Pollyanna-ish but Brayden marked Hadley with authenticity and helps us understand her philosophy of life, her romanticism, and her beliefs about the way people should be treated.
Spencer is no slouch in the character department either. It was fascinating to see her process as a fashion designer and the way her decisions affected her career. Spencer’s work is why she and Hadley meet and their respective careers stay front and center as they fall for one another.
Hadley’s friends aren’t perfect but they are so good to and for one another. Hadley has always been the one to look out for all of them but they did an excellent job rising to the occasion when needed. They’re hilarious too. I got a kick out of Gia’s running joke about breaking Spencer’s kneecaps if she ever hurts Hadley.
This story had humor and heart and I could not get enough of it.
Next time I say I don’t want to read a sequel, could I maybe just listen to myself?
The Brayden formula has turned into a caricature of itself. Entire conversations consist of witty one liners, all that is missing is the laugh track. Why do all friendship groups in books sooner or later turn into Friends episodes?
It also suffers from other sequel problems. The cast of characters is so big, there’s not much time for the MCs. The first half especially suffered from this, the second was better.
It also managed to hit a bunch of my pet peeves, like having problems that could be easily solved by communication. Or totally unrelated: wrapping the twins in pink and blue blankets because god forbid their gender might not be obvious at first glance. Tiny scene. Ticked me off.
There were some lovely scenes, and the ending was lovely. But the first half made me swear so much skipping it would have been better for my heart.
I absolutely loved this book it was intriguing and suspenseful and a fabulous read and I recommend giving it a try
As ever a wonderful combination of sweet and sassy. Ms Brayden never disappoints. I loved the two leads as they perfectly complemented the rest of the fine ensemble. I don’t like coffee, but I wish I had breakfast at the Cat’s Pyjamas every morning with these pals. Perfect ending too. Tied up the series with ribbons and bows. Bravo.
I have nothing with the Rodeo Drive kind of fashion around which the plot revolves but I liked the story of Hadley and Spencer. A bit predictable but a nice and fluffy story to conclude the series. I'm glad about the end, I was afraid for a while the ending would be happy but not satisfactory. Luckily it did not disappoint.
A fitting end to the series and so much better than the last two novels. I feel as if Melissa is back. Now for the review:
Hadley and Spencer are very different people, what they have in common is mutual attraction, chemistry and love for Fashion. What is the difference you ask? Hadley believes in Marriage & Forever and Spencer doesnt. Supported by her best friends, Hadley dives in any way determined not to let this major obstacle spoil the rest of it; knowing that this will end in heartbreak for her.
I won't spoil the rest since the story is well done and somehow, avoids the cliches. I will be re-reading this in future
