The story itself was ok but there were a lot of things off.
- The details didn’t necessarily match up in some places, some actually conflicted with info provided earlier on
- The romantic love interest was unlikable so that made the romance uninteresting for me
- There was a lot of inner monologue that was just too much for me
I had really hoped to enjoy this story more. Perhaps if there had been more review and editing….
Such a great book. Makes for a wonderful read. I can not wait to read more from this author. I love books like this.
I found this this book quite difficult to get into, although there is an element of intrigue and mystery that compels you to want to know more. The main character Rose evokes some strong feelings of compassion and sympathy.
The ending is a bit unexpected but leads the way to another book as it makes you wonder what will happen next.I think because of the intrigue it evokes I would give this book 3 and a half stars, but as that is not available,I feel it deserves 4 rather than 3.
Rose is finding life quite tough with mounting bills and problems with her mother's care, so when sees a girl jump into the sea the last thing she needs is the recurring dream of her near death experience when she was younger leaving her with a fear of the sea. When no body of the girl turns up she is intrigued, which doesn't impress the new Chief of police....... but what is the connection between the girl and Rose?
A good story with lots of combining aspects and a clever ending that will make you want to read the next book
At first the book seemed to be slow and not dull.. Halfway through the plot does up and the story of Rose and Shane me want to read more and find out what would happen next. Not sure about the ending.
Mmm.. wasn't entirely convinced by this one. I just didn't engage with the story and characters, it was a bit confused I felt.
This is my first book by this author and won't be the last. Thoroughly enjoyable read. The storyline flowed nicely and had engaging characters. Lovely eye catching cover too. Supernatural and beautifully written. I look forward to more by Katlyn Duncan.
Thank you Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
When Rose witnesses a young girl throwing herself to the sea. She is desperate to find out who the girl is and did she survive. This sets off Roses reoccurring nightmare making Rose more determined to get closer.
An OK read.
Amazing book. Loved it from beginning to end.
Well written which kept me captivated throughout.
I will definitely be reading other books by this author
This is a quick and easy read. It is a strange story. I want to read the next in the series to see what happens.
Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.
I found myself drawn to the main character Rose, but felt there was something missing. I thought it was a weird ending but I will be reading the next episode as i am intrigued to see where the author goes from here.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the review copy.
My thanks to HQ Digital for an ARC of this novel via NetGalley.
Recently I have been seeking out novels with themes of sea lore and so its cover, along with those for the following books in the series, drew me to request it.
I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t fluff but dealt with serious themes such as the effects of trauma, loss and estrangement. There are light moments and romance to balance the darker aspects, which made me appreciate it more.
I felt a great deal of empathy for Rose and look forward to reading the next in the series in January.
This is my first book by this author and won't be the last. Thoroughly enjoyable read. The storyline flowed nicely and had good charaters. Lovely eye catching cover too.
Thank you Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
Having read this author before I was intrigued by the synopsis of this book. Not only does she give us mystery, but she throws in mythology and a love story too.
Rose has a hard life between looking out for her mother and working. She doesn’t need any more stress, but that is exactly what she finds herself getting when she becomes embroiled in something she doesn’t understand. As she starts digging further, Rose discovers that she is more involved in the mystery than she first thought.
I loved the way the story flowed, the characters were all really well written, and I am in need of the next book as soon as possible!
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing a copy.
This is a first for me by this author but certainly won't be my last... and to know there will be more in this series is a happy thought.
Life is not always as it seems on the surface…
Like everyone raised in the idyllic seaside town of The Burrow, the ocean played a large role in Rose Barros’ life. She lived her life to the rhythm of the tides until a near-death experience changed her love for the water to a soul-deep terror, driving a wedge between herself and her sister, Reen.
Now, the only thing threatening to drown Rose is a mountain of bills and the burden of caring for her mother. She needs her sister more than ever, but rebellious Reen has skipped town and shows no interest in returning.
But that all changes when two strangers arrive in the quiet seaside town and turn her life upside-down… The first, a girl who leaps from the pier before Rose’s eyes; the second, the handsome new Chief of Police who doesn’t take kindly to Rose interfering in his investigation of the girl’s disappearance.
A thoroughly heart-warming enjoyable read... with a bit of mystery and a hint of supernatural.
The description of the community was great and it made me wish I lived in a place like that!
I loved reading Rose's story and can't wait for the next instalment where hopefully we'll learn more about Reen who was quite intriguing.
Thank-You Netgalley for my ARC.
Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. This was a really good read with a strange ending. The story is very well written, roll on the next book
