This book was such a good book. I read it and enjoyed it very much. I highly recommend it to anyone.

What an awesome way to convey the Nativity Story. I requested this book to read to my friends kids because it sounds fun and it was!. The kids loved it. I thought it was cute. Pirates telling the nativity story. They all love they're pirates and they got a little God in there too! Reminds me of Patch the Pirate!

I wasn't too sure what to expect, but hey, with pirates and Christmas, you can't go wrong. Catling's illustrations are wonderful and Senior's story of a leaky rowboat, missed Christmas party, and the nativity was just as wonderful. I am not sure if this would have become a holiday read in my house, but it would certainly have been read multiple times. I loved the names of Pirate Dad's friends, and the fact the guinea pig was wearing pants.

Well, this was certainly a new take on the nativity tale- as told by a pirate dad to his son. The kiddos may enjoy this story, it does have a perspective the kids will relate to- who gives a baby gold, frankincense, and myrrh? Dad and son are missing the annual pirate Xmas party, which leads to a reading of the story, but they do have a pleasant surprise coming at he end of the story. Kids will find it appealing. Illustrations were amusing.

I wasn't really excited about this book. I would buy it for my library because pirate books and Christmas books are really popular. I just feel like this book is missing that indefinable spark that gets people excited about books.

First off, I’m not sure that my galley is complete. It seems to end in a weird spot. Almost like there is no end. If that is intentional it sucks. If it’s not, then okay, this could be better. The entire premise of this book is odd. It’s a story about a pirate father and son reading the Nativity Story. They make cute barbs about the story, and it turns out that when they didn’t make the christmas party, all their friends brought the party to them. And that would have been a great end. But father and son lay down to sleep and then the snow began, and then … nothing. Just another illustration. Don't get me wrong. I love the illustrations in this book, bug that's about it. It is either an incomplete galley, or an incomplete book.

A Pirate Christmas By Suzy Senior is a fun book to read at Christmas to remind children the true gift, Jesus. Cannon and Pirate Dad are unable to attend a Christmas party so Pirate Dad reads Cannon the story of the first Christmas as a reminder that there is more to think about during the season besides parties, treasure hunts and even treasure.

What an awesome way to convey the Nativity Story. I picked this book to read to my grandchildren because, Pirates and Christmas, what's not to like. We were in for a big surprise. Instead of a pirate party, we were treated to a Pirate Christmas Story, complete with "a Lass named Mary" and lots of treasure. This was the Nativity story told with a pirate's eye. As Pirate Dad and Joe read the story, Joe asked questions and Dad answered. My grandchildren enjoyed this format and then asked me the same questions. The illustrations are fun, bright and large. These pirates are not scary, but they do have missing teeth, skinny legs, big bellies and Bright colors with not-so-scary pirates, missing teeth, big bellies and instead of a parrot, they have a hamster. The party eventually happens aboard the boat, but the message of the true meaning of Christmas is there sparkling in the stars. A great book for a family library. I am definitely going to purchase a copy of this book for my Sunday School Church Library. The publisher, Lion Hudson Ltd, generously provided me with a copy of this book to read upon my request. What an awesome way to convey the Nativity Story. Pirate Dad and Joe read the story. Joe ask questions and Dad tries to figure out the answers. Isn’t that what all of us do with our children? The illustrations are fun. Bright colors with not-so-scary pirates, missing teeth, big bellies and all. The story is a bit clunky in the beginning with the treasure map but it picks up once the story begins. I look forward to reading it to my grandsons.

This book had me at ‘a lass called Mary’. It’s such a wonderful way to tell the Navivity story and I’m looking forward to reading it to my Nephew on Christmas Eve.

Could have been longer but the story was fine. My 6 year old sat and listened and enjoyed the story and that’s what you want
