Jede Migräne ist anders und man muss "seine Migräne" erst verstehen, bevor man seinen eigenen Weg finden kann, damit umzugehen. Hilfreiche Tipps, Tricks und Erklärungen zum Thema Tornado im Kopf.
What a fantastic resource! I have recently been diagnosed with equivalent migraine and have been researching the condition, then I found this book and it’s all there in one place. Thank you so much Paula Greenspan.
Many thanks to Paula Greenspan for the opportunity to read and review this book. Having suffered for the past decade with migraine this book gave me such an insight to coping mechanisms and learning to recognise and know my migraine pattern. Very informative and insightful.
I have been suffering from headaches from my early teens and over the counter painkillers never worked for me, but it was only in the last couple of years when i started getting migraines that tied me to bed and made me throw up for 2 days. Unable to work, eat, sleep or even read, I was astonished to discover how much power a migraine can have over one's life.
Understanding and Treating Your Migraine is a compact jargon-free book about migraines. The author is not a doctor but rather a person who suffers from migraines herself and so this book is not a technical medical book. It is based on interviews with people suffering from migraines and their own experience. The book contains chapters on different types of migraines, symptons, migraine triggers, potential causes and prevention. It makes several suggestions on how to prevent a migraine. The author points out that each individual's migraine is unique and there is no cure that fits all. It is recommended to keep a diary so that a common trigger can be identified.
Most of the migraine causes and the suggested prevention techniques as well as the treatment are common sense. However, there were a few I had not heard about. Who knew that Botox - yes, the beauty wrinkle-free injections - is also used for people with chronic migraines?
I found this little book useful, if just to compare my own suffering to other people's and ensure that I do everything I can to minimise my migraine occurrence, although, doing so is not always an option. It is perhaps just an unlucky coincidence that I encountered a migraine while reading this book (cause: jetlag) that wiped me out for most of the past two days.
***Thank you to Pen & Sword for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.***
I have suffered with migraine for 20 plus years and jumped at the chance to review this book. I didn’t learn anything new but this is a very helpful book for any sufferer. It’s great to know that we sufferers aren’t alone, I will recommend this book to folk who need help. Thank you Paula for writing it.
'Wished' for this book out of interest, as I have suffered Chronic Migraine for around 4 years (officially diagnosed for nearly 3 years). I don't often read non-fiction, but though this would be interesting.
It didn't really tell me much that I didn't know, but it is a well re-searched book, and a good read for those new to the condition that may need more information. I've already spent a lot of time working out my triggers and how to minimise them already.
Still, worth looking through. I sat down and flicked through in two sittings to take in most of it.
Thank you for the chance to read, and I really hope this helps raise more awareness, and helps more people manage this awful illness.
