Not my usual genre but this book had me gripped throughout. Will be looking out for more of the same!
Unfortunately, I really struggled with this book and just couldn’t get into it. I stuck with it, but to be honest I lost interest half way through. I found it very predictable and slow.
This is an odd read- sadly I just could not get to grips with the story at all.
The characters lacked depth and just didn’t seem believable.
Not for me,
Thank you to both NetGalley and Hodder and Stoughton for my eARC of this book in exchange for my unbiased honest review
Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. What a great read I was drawn in from the beginning. Not sure I actually liked the main character Kimber but saying that well worth a read.
Kimber comes home after a weekend away to find the locks changed at her house and a storage her living in it. He has plausible excuses why he is there but he seems to know Kimber’s darkest secrets and doesn’t appear to be leaving.
Unfortunately I struggled with this. The characters were not believable and I didn’t like Kimber. She seemed like a nasty piece of work. I wanted to like it but this just wasn’t my cup of tea. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.
A great start to this book about a woman returning from a short break to discover the locks on her house have been changed and a strange man is living there. However is he a stranger to Kimber? He seems to know something about her and what happened to her sister years back. Although I did enjoy reading the book I didn't particularly like the main character and felt that the story dragged in parts especially towards the end.
This is the definition of a page turner, a excellent thriller in my point of view. Kimber returns from a long weekend away relaxed and refresh only to find her keys don't work to get in to her home, not only is someone living there they have changed the locks and her neighbour confirms his story that she had rented the house to him for 6 months. Think it can't get any worse then Laura (the author) has a whole load of surprises waiting for you. Kimber has a past like us all but a whole lot worse I'm guessing,
I'm not going to give any spoilers but someone or is it someones really got it in for our Kimber, She lost her sister then her Dad vanishes she has a testing relationship with her Mum a lot for any teenage to cope with but now its several years later she thought she had control of her life even with a few rocky bumps on the way but you need to read them for yourself. In every chapter there's something new to keep you guessing and hocked.
I loved this thriller and hope you do as well thanks NetGalley and Mulholland books for my copy.
Oh wow! What a rollercoaster of a book I didn't know what to expect next! Loved Kimber although I kept reading Kimberley 🤔 she went through every emotion when she found a stranger had moved into her house and changed the locks!! But is he a stranger, who is he and what does he want. We have the back story of Michelle, Kimbers sister who died, is it related? Not only does Kimber have to deal with this but her whole life is falling apart and she doesn't know who she can trust!! Full of suspense it kept me riveted from beginning to end.
The Stranger Inside by Laura Benedict is a psychological thriller. Kimber returns home from a weekend away to find that all the locks in her house have been changed and a stranger is living there. He claims that he is renting the house when Kimber calls the police. She is unable to get to any of her clothes and personal possessions until the authorities can sort out this problem. Kimber is not a nice person and will do anything to get what she wants and the stranger knows something about her past that can destroy her life.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton for my e-copy in exchange for an honest review.
Loved this book plenty of twists and turn not knowing which of the characters where on Kimber’s side or plotting against her . Will definitely read more from this author .
Really enjoyed this book however I did feel it was a bit drawn out in places. Plenty twists & turns and would recommend it. Defiantly worth a read. Thanks for the preview.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for the ARC.
There is a very good complex plot to this book with excellent character development, the story being told between past and present with past secrets slowly seeping into Kimber Hannon's life - and destroying it. Lots of intriguing twists which you really don't see coming.
This is a suspense thriller.
However, the suspense was just so long-drawn out that I honestly considered not continuing before I'd reached half-way. To and fro, Kimber goes back to the same people, repeating the same things, over and over again such that it felt never-ending and honestly, boring.
If the book was culled of its repetitiveness and inconsequential writing It could be a cracking read.
I enjoyed this book, though didn’t really warm to the main character. It’s a good read though and would recommend.
This is really a page turner, I was hooked from the first page to this gripping story!
However, this arc needs a wee bit tidying up: like a 'beside table' instead of a bedside table and there was this weird scene on a porch where Lance was wearing his sunglasses, and then a few paragraphs later his eyes are cold.
Apart from that: magnificent read, it took me less than two days to read.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book.
Gripping thriller that I just couldn’t put down!! Lots of twists and turns that keep you guessing until the end!
What attracted me to this book was that the synopsis reminded me of a dream from my childhood that has stayed with me all my life. Eager to see if the plot was anything like my own nightmare, I delved into this thrilling ride of a story and couldn’t put it down.
I love it when characters are flawed and in my opinion, our main character Kimber, is certainly that. However, throughout the story, Kimber struggles with her old self and tries to be a better person, whilst dealing with lies from her past and secrets she fights not to share.
Another book that I couldn’t put down and one which I would highly recommend to other readers. I will certainly be checking out Laura Benedict’s other novels.
Thank you to Hodder & Stoughton and Netgalley for the ARC.
Absolutely stunning book! One of my favourites of this year. Kept me hooked from first to last page. Can't wait to read more from this author. A well deserved 5 star rating.
