I loved this book thoroughly!! Absolute mind blowing, different thriller, though some parts may be slightly unbelievable

What do you call a book where the events make your pulse race?

What do you call a book where the plan unfolding makes you hold your breath?

What do you call a book where you jump with joy knowing things are falling into place?

What do you call a book where every scene makes you long for more?

What you call a book when your breath gets hitched and you forget to breathe when the cops come a-knocking?

What do call a book which you never want to end?

What do you call a book which makes you wonder at the intelligence of the author who writes it?

I call such a book AN UNFORGETTABLE ROLLERCOASTER THRILLER,
AND I CALL SUCH AN AUTHOR - ABSOLUTELY FREAKING BRILLIANT!!

This was Rona's best book to date, and I have no words to express how this author made me feel while reading the book.
She made me go bonkers, I tried imagining what would happen and how the scenes would play out, when everything seemed so dismal and inescapable. But she surpassed my imagination.

And the author found a fabulous way to fix every loose end like a jigsaw puzzle. I guessed the basic arc, but who cared on the face of the writing where the mind zaps and zings trying to figure it all out.

I didn't want to analyse this book I just wanted to feel it, I wanted to cheer it, I want to pump my fists and jump up high after reading it. The story was a bit overboard in some parts, the theme sounded familiar when the book started with Mel leaving from work late and joining her family at a remote holiday home, only to find the house empty with all the lights blazing!! Where were her husband and kids? The stage was set, cops were called, and the story rolled on. But there were a lot of things happening behind the curtains, and they literally blew my mind away!! Rocking fun all the way!!

I want more such books from this author who has shown what a thriller ought to be.
Good going, Rona!!

I’d like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Love You Gone’ by Rona Halsall in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

After being delayed at work Mel arrives at their holiday home in the Lake District expecting to find her husband Luke and children Tessa and Callum waiting for her. What she doesn’t expect is an empty house and no sign of what’s happened to them. After contacting Mountain Rescue, Mel rings the police who track the family to a bus stop but no further and are starting to fear the worst.

‘Love You Gone’ is compulsive reading. It’s an incredibly gripping psychological thriller covering an issue not often discussed. It has a complex plot where the separate strands are successfully drawn together, chilling characters, twists and turns, and numerous red herrings to throw us off the track. The final twist in the epilogue is so unexpected that I was left open-mouthed in disbelief. Rona Halsall is a very accomplished writer and anyone who can draw me in to read a novel in a day has my tick of approval. Although I haven’t heard of her before I’m definitely going to seek out her previous thriller.

I LOVED this book!! I never suspected what was going to happen and was completely shocked about the truth. So many twists and turns. Nobody is who they appear to be. Part Two completely changed the book and I LOVED it!!

Mel finally arrives at the holiday cottage around eight o'clock at night. She's expecting to find her family there waiting for her. The door is unlocked and the lights are on, but none appears to be home. Everything appears to be normal. There's a note on the mantle that they went out on a hike. A few hours go by and her husband and children still aren't back. Mel finally calls the police to report them missing. Eventually all the lies and secrets come out and you finally find out what happened to Mel's family.

I loved the story, writing style and characters. The dog incident was horrible. The first part of the book was amazing because I never suspected what was to come. *****SPOILER ALERT (Mel and Ted were very similar, especially the way they treated Luke. Although one was a pussycat compared to the other. I never suspected that person was involved in the last chapter. I thought someone else was there with Mel. I didn't feel bad for her, too bad it didn't happen sooner.)*******

Definitely recommend the book. I can't wait to read more from the author.

Thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author, Rona Halsall, for a free electronic ARC of this novel.

#LoveYouGone #NetGalley This was an easy book to read, which I read in one day. I liked the way that the book was told from the perspective of the two main characters Mel and Luke, and hearing it from their different points of view completely changed where my sympathies lay! Lots of twists and turns and plenty of action to keep me interested. Without giving anything away to those who have yet to read I do think that some of the issues could have been handled in more depth and I felt that the ending left too many loose ends for my liking. A good read, but with a bit of tweaking could be a great read.

I really enjoyed this book. I was hooked at once, and found it really easy to get into which is always a great start.
What I loved the most was I've been wanting to read a story like this for some time. I can't really say why without giving too much away, but the story deals with a very real issue not explored enough, and challenges the usual gender roles associated with certain themes.

The story remained exciting and suspenseful through to the end, and I devoured it in two days.

This is going to be such a hard review to write as the least you know about this story the better!

The opening chapters of Mel getting to the holiday home to find her husband and children missing had my interest piqued straight away. How could they just disappear? The police as well as Mel seem to be totally baffled. Then comes the secrets and lies. This is where I want to start screaming and shouting with excitement with all the OMG's as they just kept coming at me and I blooming well loved it!

I'm not going to say anything else about the actual story line as believe me, to do so, would just spoil it for anyone else. What I will say is, that if you love a psychological thriller that is seriously going to mess with your head, well here it is.

Love You Gone is a story that totally took me by surprise. No way could I ever envision the wonderful dark and twistedness of what was inside. From picking the book up I only put it down as I needed sleep, then was first thing I picked up the next morning not putting it down until I finished it. This book is going to send the reader spiralling through lots of emotions as the twists and turns keep coming. The adrenaline was coursing through my body as the thrill of what I was reading just intensified. A book that is definitely worthy of shouting about. Loved it!

4.5/5 - this was right up my street - I love a good tale of 2 sides - and this didn’t disappoint! There are several spoilers in the feedback of this book - and I think this spoils things a bit! (Not that I am reviewing the reviews here - but come on people - some of them mean you don’t even need to read the book!)
I Really enjoyed the book - although I felt the ending was a bit wishy washy! I loved reading the 2 sides to the story - and this didn’t disappoint - very cleverly written and I will be looking out for more by Rona Halsall.

After reading Rona Halsall first book Keep you safe, I was excited to read this book Love you gone.
The story starts with Mel, after arriving late at the holiday cottage to meet her husband Luke and their two kids. Only to find the doors open and Luke and the kids nowhere to be found. Mel is worried about Luke and calls first Mountain rescue and then the police get involved. When it comes to light that Mel and Luke marriage is not the perfect marriage everyone thinks. We learn that a year after Luke’s first wife Anna died Luke meets Mel and after a whirlwind relationship Mel moves I together. Mel’s temper though can change so quickly and becomes abusive towards Luke.
Love you gone is a quick read, written in several different perspectives and characters. It’s an original story with lots of twists and turns. It’s a gripping read and will keep you hooked to the last page.

This was a quick but really engaging read. Mel is supposed to meet her husband, Luke, and the kids at a holiday cottage. When she arrives, they are gone. Enter the story as told from both of their points of view.

I read the book in two days mainly due to the fact that I couldn't put it down. There are plenty of plot twists and turns to keep it engaging. First you are pointed in an obvious direction then the secrets start coming out!

I would 100% recommend this to anyone who likes a good suspense story!

A gripping thriller where no one appears to be killed until the very end. A story about families and their unusual interwoven lives. A fatal attraction, maybe? Don’t miss this one!

Having read Ms Halsall's previous book, 'Keep You Safe' I was delighted to have the chance to read this too. I found it to be a much tighter, more atmospheric read and finished it in two sittings. The characters are well rounded, detailed and personable. The premise of this book is original and absorbing and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The problems I had with the author's first novel aren't present here. The naivety I saw in that first book has no place within these pages; in fact it is hard hitting and thought-provoking throughout. There are several threads to the story told for the most part by the two main characters, Mel and Luke and seeing things from their sometimes totally different points of view was brilliantly done.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this novel thanks to Netgalley in exchange for an unbiased review and recommend it unreservedly to anyone who likes a psychological thriller which makes you think and reassess your view of what is hidden beneath the surface of a normal family.

Love You Gone is a good thriller. It is twisty and quite fast paced. Great, easy to follow writing style. Characters you actually care for. I couldn't put it down.
Rona Halsall is a new author to me and I would happily read more books written by her.

There are in fact two sides to every marriage ... every story, relationship and every family. Love You Gone was full of varying perspectives of the same story from both the main characters, husband and wife, Luke and Mel. True story, I couldn’t wait to go to the Toyota dealership on Monday so I could finish this book! It was that good.
Synopsis: Mel shows up to a holiday cottage meeting her husband and two children only the cottage is empty. She finds a note saying that Luke, and the children had gone for a hike and would be back soon. After some time, Mel starts to wonder if something happened because it is dark and they have not returned. The rescue team comes, the following day the police get involved to try to figure out what happened. But like with any story, with every new bit of information the police learn, they also realize there is always another side. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of Love You Gone and opportunity to read and provide and honest review for this book. I cannot wait to read more of Rona Halsall’s books. Love You Gone is available on November 15, 2018.

I thought this was a very intriguing book, it started out in a quite an ordinary way, and then swiftly took a very interesting turn.I kept thinking I am sure things are not going to be as straightforward as they seem but I had no idea what was going to unfold. What a great imagination the author has, very duplicitous,I loved it.I really like twisty books and this was certainly that.I enjoyed the pace of the book, the characters did annoy me I wanted to smack them, and I don't normally feel violent but the adults were pretty hard work .Having said that, and without giving anything away, I did warm to one of them as the book went on, and I certainly didn't see all the plot twists .it was great and I really enjoyed reading it, I will definitely look out for more books by this writer, I like the way her mind works and she is a gifted writer. Thanks so much to the publishers and netgalley for an ARC.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This story kept me reading because as I went on there were many twists and turns and I wanted to know what really happened. The book was told from different perspectives which I usually do like because different things are revealed as you hear from different characters. I wish this book had gone back and visited Mel's perspective again - she was the first person we heard from and her perspective was never heard from again. I kept wondering what she was thinking of things or how things were affecting her. The ending was a bit of a surprise. I enjoyed this book but would say its a pretty average thriller.

2.5
This one has me stumped. The reviews are fantastic and there are quite a few of them. It wasn’t that this was bad, it just wasn’t great, and certainly nothing new. The story was half over before the first interesting sentence captured my attention and it wasn’t a surprise (the reviews basically caused me to anticipate it) but at least something interesting was happening. There were several times the author finalized the chapter with a fantastic ending sentence that made me smile (juicy tidbits).

The mystery unfolded at a decent pace once the action got going. The characters were good, as was the writing. The plot was interesting but, for me, took too long to get there. There were surprises and red herrings. The final reveal is decent, not exceptional.

I read way too many thrillers (and reviews) so maybe I am jaded. I think if I hadn’t encountered the initial reveal in another story I probably would have enjoyed this more. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and Bookouture for a copy in exchange for a review.

Love You Gone is a psychological thriller that starts out as a story of a women that goes to join her family on holiday, after being delayed at work, only to discover that they are gone. She finds a note saying that her husband and children have gone for a hike and will return but as night falls, she fears that something has gone really wrong.

And then things take a turn and another and as Mel, the wife, answers more questions from the police. And then they take a few more turns as the story is revealed in flashbacks from the husband, Luke’s, perspective.
Lots of unexpected twists and turns and reveals that you aren’t expecting.

I received and ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Easy read book that made you want to keep reading. I thought it was a well told portrayal of an issue that is not often spoke about. I enjoyed the different parts of the book and how it moved back and forth in the timeline, where you gained additional information that changed your perception of the characters and the plot. Those poor children though!
