Love You Gone is definitely a page turner of a psychological thriller. It has twists and turns that draws you in and keep you enthralled and entertained to the very end.

Great characters and plot line and well written.

I love a book with a nice twist and 'Love You Gone does not disappoint! A real mix of characters and the character of Mel and Luke and their relationship was brilliant. The ending was quite abrupt but it didn't take away from the book. A very good read.

"When Mel arrives at the holiday cottage in the Lake District, she expects to find the heating on and her husband Luke and the two children waiting for her. Maybe a bottle of wine open…
Instead, there is just a note on the side, saying they’ve gone out for a walk."

‘Hello? Police? My husband and our children… they’re gone.’ With a sentence like that I went in thinking this was going to be another generic kind of thriller, but man was I wrong! This novel is chalk full of wild twists and turns. If you liked behind closed doors you'll love this one!

Mel (40) is married to Luke (34). She was late getting to the holiday cottage: her seminar had run overtime. But when Mel arrives there Luke and her stepchildren, Tessa (10) and Callum (9) were not to be found. All of their clothes and belongings were there as was a note saying that they were going on a hike. It was already dark and rainy. Mel thought that the kids wouldn't be out in this weather, surely.

Mountain Rescue arrived and picked up a scent from their dogs that led to a bus stop. What was going on with Luke? She received a call from a parent from the school she was a fundraiser at and HAD to answer. Mel loved her "mummy-world" where she took charge. When the police arrive the following day, Mel tells them that she actually is the stepmother of the two children, that Luke had a short fuse and his temper took over whenever he had the right trigger. Luke and Mel had been married for a year after a 6 month courtship.

Before his marriage to Mel, Luke and the kids went to live at the family farm. It was nice to be with Luke's parents, but cousin Ted was a bully. This jerk played into Luke wanting to be with Mel instead of his "family".

So a plan was put in place...

Kept me reading straight through! Brilliant thriller with a surprise at every corner. You have to read this one!!!

Many Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for a great read, once again!

This is a great read. The author makes you care about the characters. Do not think that it is all feel good just like life it takes a turn and you will find yourself wanting to rush to end of the book to find out on things turn out (don't do it). It is well written and you will not want to stop reading until you get to the end.

It's a gripping read that I had to finish. It's true when people say that there are three sides to every story and the author very cleverly got that across. I would read more by this author and I would like to thank the publishers and netgalley for letting me have the book to review

“Love You Gone” by Rona Halsall is a psychological thriller that tells the story of Mel, who is meeting her family on holiday. She arrives two days after them due to work, but when she arrives Luke and the children are not there. They’ve left a note saying they’ve gone for a walk, but when it’s dark and they haven’t returned the police get involved.

This story is told in four parts first from Mel’s perspective where we start to learn about her and Luke’s relationship. Part two is told from the past in Luke’s perspective, and that’s when we really learn what’s been going on behind closed doors in their relationship. I can’t say much more without giving away major plot twists, but I found this a really enjoyable read. The writing is very good, and I look forward to reading Rona Halsall’s other book.

This is a psychological thriller that keeps you wanted to learn more and possibly routing for a character you thought you might not in the beginning. I highly recommend this for fans of psychological thrillers. It will keep you guessing and wanting more!

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

4.2/5

Reading Love You Gone was a wild ride. It crammed several thriller plots into one and it worked for me.

Mel arrived in the little cottage late only to find that her family was gone. She found a note saying that Luke, her husband, and their two children, Callum and Tessa, were just taking a hike. But it was getting late and Mel had a feeling something might happened to them. The polices involved had to deduce the possibility from accident, runaway, to murder. It wasn't easy, especially with so many skeletons buried inside the closet.

The first 10% I thought it was gonna be the usual who-lies book. Digging deeper, there were so many lives entangled inside that made me unable to put it down. Around 30% mark, the book took a different turn. Then another, and another. Honestly, I didn't even mad because it was well written. After two disappointing reads, I'm glad to read this.

Another great book by Rona Halsall., I was lucky enough to get an advance copy of her first novel through Netgalley and couldn't put it down and this book was the same, I finished it in one day. Can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

so loved this story and what it is about the author has beautifully written it not many authors tackle this issue bullying violence control that is what some people in life like Luke loses his wife and wants the best for his children so he moves back to his parents farm and makes up with his father but ted not like it he meets a woman who he falls in love with that's all I will say this is authors second book and cant wait to read more I highly recommend this book.

I LOVED this book! Extremely well written, suspenseful and exciting to read. Even the ending, where so many good books fall short, was appropriate and satisfying. I finished it in one sitting because I just couldn't (or wouldnt) put it down. No holes in the plot, and everything came together seamlessly. This author is terrific, and I hope to read more books of hers in the future. Highly recommend this novel!

This was an excitng book to read, and enjoyed it.
Who was the abused and who was the abuser.
Luke lost his wife, he had two children, no family to help him and along came Mel.
After a short time together he was convinced to marry her, and then things came from bad to worse.
It was an exciting plot. And kept my attention going,
Read the book in one go, well done, and thanks for letting me read this early copy of the book

This is the first book by Rona Halsall I’ve read, but it definitely won’t be the last! Gripping from the start, I was hooked, right through to the final twist at the end. Well written, full of suspense and an absolute joy to read. Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

This has all the makings of a bestseller!!

This book grabs you by the throat and refuses to let yo go till the very end.
My first Rona Halsall book and I like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for the advance copy.
The book is very well written and the main characters are both fleshed out, our story follows Mel and Luke as they tell us there story from both perspectives along multiple timelines.
It has some great twists and at Halsall really creates that intense feeling of fear and uncertainty throughout and keeps the tension ramped up right till the very end.
Without getting into spoilers it was great to see the subject matter told from this point of view so commonly this is not the case so I applaud Halsall.

I loved it a fantastic read.

Well worth your time and money a must buy.

This was a fantastic read , I raced through it almost without stopping , although I had an idea what was going on thanks to one of the netgalley reviews it was still such a shock when I realised what was happening , when Mel arrives at their holiday cottage her husband and children are out , they have left a note saying they were out for a hike , as the hours tick by and they don’t return Mel starts to worry and calls the police , the investigation starts and we find that Mel isn’t being totally truthful , then the second part of the book told from Luke’s point of view is actually quite shocking, a fantastic read with lots going on . I loved it

Flew through this book. I couldn't put it down.
It hits on a few hot topics including domestic abuse. It's taken from a fresh angle and as a woman I appreciated it.
The story grabs hold of you with plenty of twists and turns along with a few jaw dropping moments.
A fantastic thriller, I look forward to reading more books from Rona Halsall.
If you're a fan of gone girl you're seriously going to enjoy this!
