Echoes of Fire is the latest installment from Suzanne Wright from the Mercury Pack wolves. Bracken lost his family during an attack by the Extremists and Madisyn, as a cat shifter, is aloof and distant.

I admit to my fangirl-ness of all things Suzanne Wright has written. I adores all of her shifter books (Phoenix and Mercry Pack). Her vampire (Deep in Your Veins) and demon series (Dari In You) are excellent as well

Wright takes two struggling characters and takes you on their journey past their problems toward recognizing their relationship makes them stronger together. As with previous Mercy Pack (and Phoenix Pack) books, there is always some physical threat to the couple which, while overcoming, heightens the bond between the hero and heroine. Wright manages to take the formula of boy meets girl, boy pursues girl, challenges ensue, boy gets girl and make it fresh and exciting for each book.

Wright manages to create dynamic and interesting characters. I love how you see the relationship of the other pack members develop as well. It's a fun ride to see Bracken and Madisyn come together.

I’m a nut for Suzanne Wright. I love her stuff, and by stuff I mean sarcastic heroines and dirty talking heroes.

Still, the last few Phoenix Pack and Mercury Pack books have frustrated and disappointed me. As much as I adore her stories, the repetitious characters and plot devices is becoming cereal-box-stale. I love characters like Jesse and Harley from Force of Temptation. However Trick and Frankie were a yawn fest. To be honest I can’t differentiate Trick from the guy with the bad pick up lines despite having read all the books. They aren’t close to being the same character but Trick wouldn’t be missed by me if he were to disappear. Lure of Oblivion wasn’t a shiner for me either. I waited excitedly for Xander’s book like a kid promised ice cream; the reality is that these later books are becoming hit and miss.

Just in time to mend my breaking heart come Bracken and Madisyn. Echoes of Fire has put me back on the happy side of life. No stale cereal in this box.

The ongoing unrest swells within the shifter community as egotistical alphas vie for territory and power. This agitation within the shifter world is running parallel with the terroristic attacks of the anti-shifter radicals. The terrorists are prepared to sacrifice lives on both sides to prove shifters are monsters. Although Nick and Shana have no desire to expand or control more territory many shifters want to be at the top of the food chain. Territory is power. Power is influence. Allies fighting for your territory means you and your allies get to devour challengers. Sometimes greedy shifters collaborate with their enemies to destroy common threats. Sometimes your enemy of your enemy is just pretending your they’re ally--dumb people do dumb things.
So don’t trust bears.

The local shifter shelter where Madisyn works is the ideal soft target. Hungry Alphas are dying to put their thumbs on the pulse of Dawn’s Sanctuary. There is no better pickings for slaves and sacrifices than those who are weak, homeless, loners, and/or rogues. When hungry bears come looking for revenge they know where to strike first and strike hard. Without a place to hide those seeking help can’t disappear.
So don’t trust bears.

It’s not just volatile shifters on her tail that is Madisyn’s problem; it’s the cantankerous wolf who steps up to service her front that is the obstacle. Madisyn’s contentious frenemy relationship with Bracken is more of a headache than it is a comfort. Admitting she needs help of any kind is irksome to the independent cat shifter.
Pallas, Wolves, and Bears, oh my.
Don’t trust the bears.

Sigh. Dearest Bracken, I want you to be my date on a date I’ve also made with Jesse; I suck at maths but you + Jesse + Ali = naughty daydreams. We can roleplay: You and Jesse could pretend you are the wolves I meet on the path to grandmother’s house. I’ll be holding a coffee cup, dressed in a sassy red hood and little else. I can ‘Oh what large teeth you have’. ...And if you should eat me all the better.

I loved this book. The character development was far more solid than that of both Lure of Oblivion and Wild Hunger. While Madisyn’s characterization is somewhat similar to Harley, or even Harper in the Darkness in You, she’s much more endearing than the overused character profile of Taryn. (I love Taryn. I just didn’t like all the Taryn’s that came after Taryn.)

The one thing I would desperately like to see in the future is another peek into a fresh shifter pack or pride. It would be great to move us into the world of the Pallas. Bring us the Devereaux’s.
Please Suzanne, could we please have Tate and Luke?

Amazing as always. This author can do no wrong. Read the series it is so worth it. The characters were really good and the animal shifters that are used by the author are original. A good strong plot and a lot of fun with steam and romance.

Such a good book by a fantastic author. It left me dying for more after I read the entire thing in one sitting. I had been dying for Madisyn's book since we met her a few books ago and I had no clue which path Bracken would take after what happened to his family. They are both such strong characters and the author truly bought them to life! Roll on the next book!

4 STARS

This book was read while I was in a book slump. But still, it keept made me want to know what happened even if I didn't want to read that much.

Bracken just made my heart hurt throughout this book. He was in so much pain, self-hate and guilt that I had a hard time feeling him other than that and I just wanted to hug him. At the beginning of this book I think there was almost to much focus on it and not on him (does that make sense?) But when I started to get more fouth into the book I started to see him more and feel his personality in a way that made me connect with him again.
I loved how he was so protective of Madisyn and how he fought himself when he knew he was too much and didn't just have a tantrum when she didn't do what he said and didn't let him boss her around.

Madisyn is my hero! I want to be her when I grow up! I mean for real the backbone that woman has is incredible. She has such a strong will and she is just a power woman that will not back down for no one and she is who she is and people will just have to deal with that. She was amazing with Bracken and when those two were together I could just feel their peace and how they were just made for each other. They just fit.

I don't know how Suzanne Wright can keep making these book and still make them good, but she does.

Rating: Super 5 stars

I love that SW has trusted me all this time to read her books before hand.

The cover, I like it, I am not super in love with the guy, tho.

The story, I have been with this series since I met Trey. I have read the first book so many times I lost count, and is happening again with this one. I think we all feel for Bracken, he was broken, destroyed and he did need someone who could let him know life sucked but sucks more if you don't live it. Madysin works at the shelter and someone is looking for a guest to basically make her a slave. Madysin doesn't like that so she won't give the info. Therefore, we have fights, and blood and scary moments and "you'll die b17ch!" And happy ending too.

The romance, Yowza! Bracken does know his way around...sigh...

Madysin, she is strong, stubborn but not dumb to let a man walk all over her. She knows how to say what she needs and wants.

Bracken, oh Bracken, I am sad to say, but on previous books, I didn't feel like he would be like this, is like he is almost Trey (obvs nobody can be Trey), they have the same intensity.

The ending, well, I hope this series continues for eternity. There was no cliffhanger.

Overall, did I like the book? Nope...I.LOVED.IT, with every beat of my little black heart. Would I recommend it? Absolutely...go ahead, read it, you won't regret it.

dnf at 50%. This is a case of it's me not the book. I think I am actually kind of over the series. The characters feel like they are all the same. They talk the same and they all screw the same. It is just kind of boring. I may come back to it someday.

Holy effing shit!!!! I couldn’t love it more!! It was just enough of the typical Suzanne Wright style, but different enough that it felt fresh, new, and unbelievably AWESOME! These characters are EVERYTHING!

Gah!! I loved it so, so much. I joke all the time that I’d read a million of these books, but it’s not really a joke at this point. It’s a fact. This is my absolute favorite paranormal romance series!

Oh my gosh! The sass in this book is perfect! I absolutely loved it. I have read a few Suzanne Wright books and she has never disappointed and Echies of Fire is just the same. Great story, greaat characters, great writing. Absolutely loved it x

I loved this book, a vicious when provoked yet out for the underdog woman, slightly darker than normal man who has his own issues . The humor Suzanne puts into her books is right up my alley - I'm definitely more sarcastic humor and this book has it in spades. The only problem with Suzanne Wright's books is that once I finish one I don't want to wait for the next one!

I do not understand how perfection can get better but somehow Suzanne wright does it. I adore all her Phoenix pack, and mercury pack books. All of them. They are incredible, they are life. When I read who this story was about I was disappointed that it wasnt Bracken and Shiloh because that was what I was expecting BUT right from the first chapter I was hooked. Disappointment was gone in a heartbeat. It's honestly hard to pick a favorite hero and heroine. I honestly love and adore them all. The heroines make me want to be them and the hero make me wish I was with them.

Echoes of Fire was another great shifter romance from Suzanne Wright. Whenever I launch into the Phoenix or Mercury Pack books I am immediately swept into my happy space. I love the crazy, intense chemistry between true mates and the journey they go through as their bond snaps into place.

An action packed story that had a few slow moments (this is when my reading buddies declared they were waiting for me to comment on the pace slowing in sections (insert eye rolling emoji).

I want to talk about the inner animals in this story. I loved Madisyn’s Cat, a wild, strong willed creature that redefined the term cat fight. No scratching and slapping here, this cat viciously shredded her opponents after methodically trapping them with no chance of escape. Not once did she come across as vulnerable and unable to defend herself.

The interaction between their animals was an unusual combination that just worked. Essentially we’re talking about a canine/feline HEA. IKR? Humans often declare themselves either as cat people or dog people. Yet this feline and wolf complimented each other beautifully, each provided the key to make the other complete.

Readers who enjoy a bit of action will be delighted with the level of girl power energy radiating off the pages. The male egos in the packs stood by offering their assistance as required. Never encroaching, but keeping a respectful eye out for when their assistance was needed.

As usual, you will be pleased to know the cheeky humour was sprinkled throughout the story. It was a little lighter than usual which I appreciated. Greta got a run for her money and I want to know what they slipped into her coffee because the woman was sticking up for Madisyn in this book. She keeps this up and I am going to think the woman has a heart!

Brace yourself for the alpha OTT chemistry between Madisyn and Bracken. Forget echoes, this book was sizzling with fiery passion and wanton need. My one niggling comment I need to mention is that pounding is not the verb I would have reached for. You pound a nail into a plank of wood. I will leave it at that and just say even with my twitching at the thought of a hammering, there was no denying these two hit it off between the sheets!

So if you are after a steamy, action packed shifter book that will have you pining for your own Bracken, be sure to add Echoes of Fire to your TBR list!

I am a huge fan of Suzanne Wright's and love both the Phoenix and Mercury Pack series. They are all one click for me so I knew this was going to be one that I read. Bracken has been one of my favorite characters and I am so thrilled that eh got his own book finally.

After such a heartbreaking loss of his family being killed in the last book, I could not be happier that Bracken is pushing beyond it and living life. It would have been too easy to have fall into a deep depression and get lost in the mix. I do think that his loss and the love he had from his family is one of the reasons he accepts Madisyn as easily as he does. At least once he realizes what she is to him.

As far as Madisyn goes I am so thrilled to finally know what kind of shifter she is. I'm not telling either in case you haven't read the book yet. Although I do admit I had to look them up. She has spent so much of her life alone that when she discovers Bracken is her mate she doesn't trust that he wants her for any other reason. She doesn't even think he likes her. She stays true to herself which is great. The way their relationship develops makes things easier on them as a couple than it did any of the other I think. I'm thrilled that Shiloh wasn't Bracken's mate too. I like her but she just didn't seem right for him.

I can't wait for Eli and Dominic’s stories to come out. Although I would love if Cain got his own story. He doesn't fit into any one pack but he does have a special connection with one of the little girls. He protects and watches over her. I bet his story would be amazing considering everything thinks he is crazy.

I've read a few of the Phoenix Pack books and all of the spin-off Mercury Pack ones, but I'm pretty sure you can join this story at any point in the series (either one). Each of these books is a littles self-contained love story, mixing unique pairings with predestined mates.

Bracken is a bit of a broken shifter. He's still serving his pack as an enforcer but his heart just hasn't been in it since his entire family was murdered, leaving him as the lone survivor. He's about to leave for some time on his own, but the sudden task of picking up an injured Madisyn snaps everything into place.

Madisyn is awesome. She's tough as nails, can take on any opponent (verbally or physically with her insanely vicious shifter side) but she is dumbstruck by the sudden identification of her mate. He's upfront with her and is just... perfect. All of their verbal sparring was like foreplay leading up to this moment. Oh, and there's bad guys out to get her, leaving everyone on edge. Don't worry, though, we get a nice self contained HEA where these two work out the kinks (or work on the kinks...). I always like the slightly broken romance pairings, so this was a nice read for me.

It seems like I’m in a minority here, but I wasn’t a fan of this book. The plot held no appeal for me and I didn’t care about any of the characters. I’ll continue reading Suzanne Wright’s books, though.

Great addition to the series. I really liked Madisyn and Bracken. It was a good mix of romance, action and suspense. The sex was steamy and the story was engaging. Recommended for fans of the series.

The fourth book in the Mercury Pack series is a thrilling read that draws readers in and refuses to let go. Madisyn and Bracken are strong, bold characters that really stand out and grab attention and the chemistry that burns between is electrical. The relationship between is rocky from start to finish and quite entertaining as they struggle through it. Readers can’t help but get caught up in all the upheaval that occurs emotionally between Madisyn and Bracken as readers can easily understand their motivations which it makes it difficult to open their hearts. The couple exchange some witty dialogue, some feisty debates, some sweet heart moments and lots of sizzling attraction and red hot passion during their journey to reach their happily ever after.

But the tangled emotions of this relationship is not the only thing that makes it interesting, threats from their past add thrilling danger, intriguing suspense and adrenaline pumping excitement. The plot is fast paced and flows smoothly which along with the author’s ability to bring stories to vivid life, makes it easy for readers to become so caught up in the story that they lose track of time. The character interactions of this series and The Phoenix Pack series are one of family, loyalty, understanding and the struggle to survive and fit in which makes it easy for readers to connect with the them and also invites readers into their lives, so readers really can’t get enough of this fascinating world.

Suzanne Wright is one of my favourite paranormal authors. I know when I pick up one of her books I won’t be disappointed.

Madysin and Bracken are great together. Madysin is deceptively badass and Bracken is totally swoon worthy!

I love the easy banter and the whole pack relationship. I’m so glad that we get to see couples from previous books!

I can’t wait for more from the Mercury and Phoenix packs!!

Another book that takes us into my fave werewolf/shifter world. Bracken has held a special place since his family died in a previous book. I wondered how the author was going to find a female that could deal with the change that would inevitably come to him as a result of having endured such loss. I remember Bracken from Carnal Secrets when they three young wolves were so fun and funny with their banter. But life changes all of us, and such a great loss at a young age would inevitably change him even more. Madyson was just the perfect person to allow for this to happen. She was so amazing in being able love Bracken for who he was now and not who he had been. She was also changed by previous circumstances and so she could easily relate to him and what he wanted. I loved how fierce and blood thirsty she was because it said something about her. In the end another wonderful addition to his great series. I can't wait to see what happens next.
