I loved how Madysin centered and brought Bracken back. Story took me by surprise and I couldn’t put it down. Highly recommend this book! Now I’ll get on Audible and listen to it. 🙂
As usual Suzanne Wright manages to deliver yet another amazing shifter romance. Madisyn and Bracken were perfect for each other, they complimented one another and neither wanted to fight what was happening, but they did want it to be a healthy and happy relationship no matter if there was a bond or not. A bit more realistic this time around I felt, I don’t really mind either way because each story is its own and Suzanne Wright makes it work every time.
I really enjoyed the twists and turns with the outside and inside conflict. I really didn’t know what was going to happen next which kept me turning the pages pretty quickly.
I am so in love with the Mercury Pack and the Phoenix Pack, I really hope Suzanne Wright keeps writing for many, many, many, many, many x infinity, years.
I rarely ever give a five-star review, but this book deserves it and then some! Way to go, Suzanne!!!
I have read every single book Suzanne has written. This series has taken me on a great journey and this book installment is one of my favorites! I will be honest and say the one book prior to this one kind of was a slow read. This one? Not at all. I couldn't put it down and honestly didn't want it to stop!
Madison Drake is a rare breed of a shifter and won't take any S**% from anyone, shifter as well. She is fearless, stubborn and oh so in need of sexual release for her touch hunger. She's been eyeing a grey-eyed, storm of a wolf but won't dare approach that thought. She's already been burnt by a male and she is not interested in sharing anything about herself. Even if the tall hunk of yummy is tempting her.
Bracken has endured more than most have. He is well known as the one who "righted a wrong" in a messy, yet unforgettable way, that has made him feared and awed by all. He's been carrying around black thoughts for so long, that he hasn't really been living. When he finally notices and realizes what that crazy feline, Madison, is to him, he can't stop from making her his in all the ways possible. But does he have a right to feel or deserve this reward? He has to proceed with caution and is willing to do that so as to not run Madison off. But, when things get crazy and Madison is in danger, his patience is wearing thin. But regardless of that, anyone who dares to threaten the one he cares about will soon remember what he did to those that hurt what's his and how he became the one so many feared.
I could go on and on about this book, but I don't want to ruin anything for you. Although you don't really need to read the other books in the Mercury Pack series or the Phoenix Pack series, to know what is going on in this book, I still strongly encourage you to read them. You will understand a few more things that are referenced in this book and quite frankly will enjoy the series altogether. While I am at it, I also highly suggest you read her Dark in You series, Deep in your veins and all other books she wrote. You won't be sorry.
As I am sure you know this, I recommend this book. Enjoy the yummy brooding Bracken, who has become my favorite male shifter from Suzanne, but also Madison, who has become my favorite strong, takes no S*%* female shifter. I can NOT wait for Suzanne's next book!!!
I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased and honest review.
This series is one of the best out there and I wasn't disappointed with this latest edition to the mercury pack
Madisyn Drake is a pallas cat shifter and she has made it her life job to help lone shifters find new homes. Backen Slater is a wolf shifter and member of The Mercury Pack he made a name for himself when he took out every extremist involved in the killing of his family They have known one another for years are attracted but have never made a move on it. When Madisyn is threatened after hiding a bear shifter called Daisy then Bracken's wolf jumps to attention to protect. Both of these shifters have issues he is still damaged by the loss of his family she is a natural loner but with a little bit of give and take and a whole lot of love these mates will learn to be a pair
This was a solid four for me. As I always preface these books, you can't just jump into this series at any point. It's a hard sell as a standalone. There are a lot of characters, sideline characters you "should" already now and different dynamics. Ms. Wright does have a formula when coming to these stories but they're still entertaining. I'm always a little standoff-ish from the "bar fight drama" but I take it as it's a shifter series with lots of people. It's something Ms. Wright likes to add to make the secondary story move forward. I liked Madisyn and Bracken, a lot. Their relationship was honest, with it's own struggles, but it came together perfectly.
So up front honestly here. I'm just going to say this is a biased review. I mean it's legitimately a fucking fantastic book. HOWEVER I am yet to dislike a book from Suzanne and she is the writer of my favourite PNR romance series 'A Dark In You' aka Harper and Knox. Seriously I have them all in every format. some may say I'm obsessed I am. All jokes aside though this will be a series gush fest of epic proportions because like I just said.. I fucking love her books.
Madisyn and Bracken's story GAVE ME LIFE. Dark, raw with that almost forbidden vibe. These pair couldn't be more perfectly suited.
Madisyn is literally my perfect heroine. Strong and fierce with an independent streak a mile long. She knows what she wants. She's honest and upfront with her shit and she has a pretty badass animal to boot.
Bracken is different. He went through some serious shit and it left a mark. He's darker, brooding and has that mysterious vibe. Again perfect book boyfriend material right here. Upfront and honest about his feelings. Tentive to Madisyn whilst still having that uber dominant vibe about him. Delicious.
Suzanne doesn't leave us hanging long to find out what breed Madisyn is. It doesn't disappoint either. Everything is out in the open pretty quickly which is great because we get to see the relationship between them develop without the unnecessary cat and mouse chasing tail games or drama and fillers that aren't needed. They balanced eachother out. She didn't take his shit or treat him like he was broken and he let her be herself and respected her strength. The chemistry is out of this world! Wild raw and palpable it grips you from their first encounter not letting you up for air until the end. Their story is fast paced and jam packed full of all kinds of crazy!. One of my favourite things about this author is her unique ability to create a story far fetched yet you believe it, hang on to every word and soak that shit up like it's the last drop of water in the world. Also her ability to write side characters that are just as important to this story as the main characters. All of them.. you fall hard and crave more of them. That crazy dysfunctional family vibe it what it's all about. The chemistry, the connection... it's easy to connect to and they are easy to relate to despite it being fiction. Jam packed full of action, easy banter, hilarious and sometimes outrageous shenanigans. Lots of loving and some real sweetness. Must I go on?..
I can't gush enough but I shall stop before I give shit away. Seriously though if your a fan of this author then there's no question you love it. If you're a new b start from the beginning.. you'll thank me later.I genuinely can't see what's not to love.
xo
Madisyn and Bracken have known each other for quite some time. They find each other to be quite annoying. Until the touch-hunger becomes too much for Madisyn and Bracken is there to witness her pain. When one thing leads to another, ending with an unconscious Bracken, suddenly they realize they are fated mates. Simple, right? Except Madisyn is questioning Brackens desire to mate with her just as I was. How could a couple who are fated to be together not recognize it for years and then suddenly, bam.
When Madisyn agrees to give Bracken and their relationship a chance, they actually end up working out quite well. Thoughts and feelings from the past are brought into the light and the lack of recognition is soon understood. Not sure if I completely bought the whole set up, but I’m a lenient reader and accepted it for what it was and moved on. In doing so, I found this to be another great story to add to the other books in this series.
Bracken is another wonderful alpha hero and I loved his need to protect what is his. Add in his own struggles from the past and I was a goner for him. Madisyn is a feisty, tough, independent heroine who prefers to be alone. Watching her change into a character that accepted the presence of the pack warmed me. After all, in my opinion, friends and family are everything.
This definitely had some intense action scenes along with a steam factor that was beyond sizzling. When this couple get together things are HOT. My Kindle may not ever recover.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley and Montlake. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Full disclosure, I freaking love Suzanne Wright books. In fact, I don’t think I’ve given less than a 4-star rating for any book in her Phoenix Pack, Mercury Pack, or the Dark In You series. They are hot, sexy, action-packed, and full of all kinds of interesting characters. Yes, the pack series do have some of the same plot points from book to book, but seriously, I don’t give a flying rat’s patootie. Not one. As for the Dark in You Series—Knox is my hands down favorite PNR hero of all time. And anyone who knows me knows I read one hell of a lot of PNR. So, it’s a big deal when I say Bracken gave Knox a run for his money. Holy shamoly, he just absolutely did it for me. (Now don’t fret, Knox. You’re still the one, but it was close).
“If you ever so much as bother Madisyn again, I won’t just destroy you, I’ll wipe out your entire clan. It’ll be as if you never existed.”
Now, this wasn’t all fun and games. Poor Bracken has been through the wringer. We found out in Wild Hunger (Phoenix Pack #7) that Bracken lost his entire family in a horrid attack that almost got him too. He is no longer our happy go lucky Bracken with a great sense of humor. He is dark, broody, and brings new meaning to the word alphahole. He wasn’t a slouch before, but now he is one walking, talking, stone-freaking-cold badass. And did I mention sexy? Hoo-boy. Keep your significant other handy, you’re going to need him.
“It was an atomic explosion of raw need that made her body flare to life, like she’d been plugged into a power source.”
I’ve liked Madisyn since we met her in Mackenna and Ryan’s book, Savage Urges (Phoenix Pack #5). When I found out what kind of cat she was, I had to google it. Actually, her cat is even more badass than Harley’s which is saying something. She has a heart of gold but she is so far from a pushover it’s hilarious. So yeah, I adored her.
Even though Bracken and Madisyn are true mates, this was no insta-love romance and they didn’t immediately succumb to the pull. Both had too much water under their bridges to have a clear connection. Add in all the threats swirling around them and this ended up being a nailbiter of a story in more ways than one.
Echoes of Fire felt just a shade darker than what I’m used to for this series, and I loved every bit of it. Dark, sexy, full of action and with some fun woven in, I loved everything about Echoes of Fire and can’t wait to see what Ms. Wright has in store for us next.
Spice’s Rating: 5 Walking, Talking, Stone-Cold Badass Stars
Suzanne Wright is one of those authors that are an automatic one click buy for me whether it’s a book from one of her paranormal series or one of her contemporary works. I don’t need to read the blurb to know I’m going to love whatever she’s given us and, with a great plot and strong characters, Echoes of Fire was no exception.
Bracken is both feared and respected in equal measure both by the shifter and human communities. After the lose of his entire family at the hands of extremists during an attack where only he survived, he carries a burden of guilt and feels undeserving of any happiness. Madisyn, a loner by nature, is a Pallas cat shifter. A rare breed that is basically insane and doesn’t think twice of taking on three bear shifters who think she’s easy prey. Despite knowing each other for several years Bracken and Madisyn are completely unaware that they are mates until Bracken is hurt and close proximity means the bond is triggered but both are willing to take things slowly and let the bond develop naturally. Although saying that, the sexual chemistry between them is scorching & nearly sets the sheets on fire. I loved the character of Madisyn. Pallas cats might just be my new favourite form of shifter. She was such a crazy badass. She reminded me of Taryn from Feral Sins, both with their total disregard for their own safety and habit of attacking first. I loved the exchanges between her and Bracken. She gave as good as she got and pushed him past his grief and judging from what she talks about in her sleep her dreams are just as exciting as her life.
One of the best things about Suzanne Wright’s books is that she manages to bring in old characters without their appearances seeming forced or about of place. I loved catching up with old friends and seeing how their lives are going and no book would be complete without Dominic and his one liners. I can’t wait to read his story. Revenge will definitely be sweet for both the Phoenix and Mercury packs when he finally meets his match. I can’t wait to see what Suzanne has in store for us next.
This is book 4 in the Mercury Pack series and even though this can be read as a standalone, it would be better to read in order so you know all the characters.
Madisyn and Bracken meet after Madisyn beat the crap out of three shfters in the restroom. Madisyn is a Pallas Cat shifter, which are small, furry, cute but mean as hell... cats. She has an attitude and can definitely back up anything that comes out of her mouth. The owner of the club wants to know what started the fight but everyone is keeping quiet about it.
Bracken is called to come get Madisyn. He's known for being tough ever since his family was killed but he likes Madisyn. She also likes him but she doesn't let on since she has no idea how he feels. But when Bracken realizes that she's suffering from touch hunger, he gives her what she needs but in doing so he bites her and leaves his mark. He tells her that if she needs the touch of another to come to him, no other. His wolf is possessive but she doesn't understand why right away. Bracken's pack is great and for the most part they were all very welcoming to Madisyn and very happy for Bracken.
When danger comes calling from another pack, Bracken does what he can to make sure Madisyn is safe. His pack and the people from the shelter she works at even get involved because they can't let the alpha of the pack get what he wants. I really liked how everyone came together to help Madisyn even though she's completely able to take care of herself. She's one kick ass little cat.
I loved these two. They're both hurting for different reasons and when they come together, you can just tell they are made for one another and they help each other heal. I highly recommend this series.
Disclosure: I was sent this ebook free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review but all opinions are my own.
I have no words.
No words to describe how much I enjoy these wolves’ stories and how they keep surprising me in their awesomeness. I mean, this is the 11th book between the Phoenix and Mercury packs. Before I started, I told myself to lower my expectations because there’s just nothing new that could happen. No way Bracken could be as alpha or Madisyn as weird and kick-ass without them being a lesser copy of the shifters that came before them.
But you know what? I shouldn’t have bothered, cause Ms. Wright once again blew me away with Echoes of Fire.
Still, this is a shifter romance so there’s mating and bonding. There’s action, fights, battles, and intrigue. There’s lots of really hot sex and the-by-now-expected butt-sex-epilogue. Ms. Wright just has a way of writing that gets me totally engrossed in the story, completely connected to the characters.
Bracken was utter perfection. After the tragedy he barely survived, he was left more aloof, detached and menacing than ever. Watching him come alive again for Madisyn was spectacular. He was alpha as expected, but his protectiveness and possessiveness went seriously over the top and that was just the cherry on top of all his bossy yumminess.
Madisyn was the shit. We knew she was slightly on the other side of crazy from the previous books, but man! She was epically kick-ass. Fierce, loyal and with a devil-may-care attitude she was everything I was expecting and exactly what Bracken needed.
“Someone ate a full bowl of Bitch Flakes this morning.”
“Dude, I ate two.”
Their chemistry was obviously ridiculously hot and their animal side interactions adorable. I really liked how she made Bracken handle their connection and how they were open about facing their issues.
Echoes of Fire had everything I needed, wanted or could even dream of, I loved it from start to finish and I want these series to go on forever. That said, I really wish we’d gotten the chance to see Madisyn exacting revenge on the whole Lucah cat-fish issue, there is just no way this feline would let it go without some inventive payback.
Sparkles’ Rating: 4.5 “Can I get my own alpha wolf now?” Stars
Once again I am reminded of why I wouldn't want to be a shifter in Wright's world. There's a sickness that seems to pervade it. This time it is a predatory bear who won't take no for an answer and a stupid, ego-driven woman who also can't take no for an answer.
Madisyn and Bracken are great together. Both have something inside that is intrinsically broken but when they come together, that part of them begins to scab over. For Madisyn, it's about trust.
For Bracken, it's about safety. After all, he watched his entire family - including baby nephew - die when an extremist group hit a shifter group. His guilt and pain led him to slaughter the human group in return and they deserved it. But he has no intention of allowing it to ever happen again. So, Madisyn is a helluva challenge since she is more than capable of protecting herself.
Madisyn is a lone shifter in more way than one. She chooses to be alone, but she is also without family and has been since she was twelve. She answers to no one; she depends on no one. But Bracken makes her want to be with him; he's an anchor when she didn't even know she wanted one.
The sex is explosive but the romance is a slow burn as Bracken slowly cajoles his cat into his life, his bed, his pack. It's probably the sweetest I've read so far because he is just so gentle with her. I enjoyed that a lot since it is rare in Wright's books. This is a good book in the series and I am glad Bracken gets his HEA after the horror of losing his family. As usual, the pack dynamics are interesting and there seems to be a bit of a greater arc coming into play now so we'll have to see how that works out.
4-4.25 stars. This book was another great addition to my fave shifter series! Echoes of Fire was Madisyn and Bracken's story. Madisyn is a lone pallas cat shifter who is friends with the Mercury pack wolves and works at the shifter shelter. Bracken is a wolf shifter and enforcer for the Mercury pack. He lost his parents, siblings and baby nephew in a recent attack by the anti-shifter extremist group and has been struggling to recover emotionally. He and Madisyn have been acquaintances but something happens between them that brings to light that they are true mates. The two of them like each other but take it slowly getting to know each other and fully forming a bond. In the meantime, Madisyn faces a threat from a bear shifter clan who wants her to tell them where she has helped hide a bear shifter from the shelter. They go to vast lengths to hurt her, Bracken and the Mercury pack. But Madisyn is no pushover and won't go down without a big fight, and Bracken will do anything to keep his mate safe. The two make a powerful team and they come out on top in love and war.
I loved Madisyn and Bracken. Madisyn was such a scrappy little fighter. She rarely showed fear or backed down from a challenge. Bracken adored his mate and was so protective of her, especially after losing his family. They were a really great match and I very much enjoyed their relationship progression. The writing was good and the story was interesting. Also, this book was very action packed. There were lots of fights and battles.
Overall, this was a great, fast paced book. Madisyn and Bracken were funny, sweet and sexy together. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for more from Ms. Wright and the Mercury pack series!
Oh.my.god. I can't believe I loved this book! Let's just say the last few Suzanne Wright book's have been slightly disappointing to me and for that reason I delayed reading this book for a long time. I think one reason why I really loved ECHOES OF FIRE was because I loved the bad ass hero and heroine of the book this time around and I loved those types of characters, they give me some sort of rush!
Last we heard of Bracken he lost his entire family and is a wreck and it's very intriguing to notice the changes in him from how he's been in previous books. It's somewhat like he doesn't have that will to really live anymore. And Madisyn is a loner shifter who works at the shelter who is BFF to Makenna who recently joined the Phoenix Pack after mating with Ryan. As it seems Madisyn is having trouble with with some nasty bears who are demanding to know where the location of a recent shifter of the shelter is located and Madisyn isn't budging.
Now Madisyn & Bracken find out very early in the book that they are true mates. I'm so glad that this was found out by both of them very early on because I always hate when the true mates thing drags out for so long. Bracken wanted the bond, not doubt about that, but Madisyn had concerns, but I'm glad she gave him a chance. These two are explosive! I loved both of them as a person. And Madisyn can give any other dominant shifter in this series a run for their money! This girl is bad-ass! Just don't piss her off!
One thing that really sold me on Madisyn and Bracken as a pair was that they completely respect each other! Everyone in the Mercury Pack have been somewhat tiptoeing around Bracken, babying him, waiting for him to explode from the tragedy he has been through. But Madisyn will not do that because she knows its not what he needs! And I love that she gets that.
So ECHOES OF FIRE was just an absolutely amazing read! I loved the main couple, the story, & the side characters & the fact that I seriously have a girl crush on Madisyn! But damn, only 1 more book in the Mercury Pack and 1 more book in the Phoenix Pack and then it's over! *starts crying*
4 stars
As a fan of Suzanne Wright I could not wait for this book and I really enjoyed this new edition to the Mercury Pack series. Madisyn and Bracken are a great characters and little different to Wright’s usual type, She does a great job of navigating between loss, hope and a hot romance. Madisyn definitely had a Roni feel to her strong, funny and viscous which I love. Bracken is intense and broken but his patience with Madisyn was sweet.
so why not 5 stars -1) it took a while to get passed the we’re just friends/mates/should we decision 2)I love these books but as the series continues they are feeling more formulaic which takes a great book to a 3.5-4.
Definitely enjoyable and a great read for fans of paranormal romance.

I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review
Let me first start by saying that I love, LOVE this paranormal series so I was really looking forward to the new book ‘Echoes of fire’. So you can imagine my pleasure when I got the chance to read it before release.
Bracken Slater is one of the enforcers of the Mercury Pack and a character we already met many times before in the previous books. In those books he’s the layback guy, someone who likes to have fun and who is an easy character to be with. So I was very surprise when I started the story and I discovered a totally different man in it. I can understand (after reading what happened to him) why he would be a different man then before but I had a little trouble connecting with this ‘new’ version of Bracken.
I did love Madisyn and I especially loved her cat! It was a new cat species to me. (I looked it up on the internet. I would recommend that you do that too! It’s totally worth it.) The interaction between the other members of the pack (and the Phoenix pack) were again great to watch. I really love the friendship, loyalty and love that they have for each other. The connection between the pack members is one of the things that I like very much in this series. (And the craziness of some members too.)
Again the writer Suzanne Wright wrote a good story, one filled with humor, emotions and steamy sex scenes. But in contrast with the previous books where I was intrigued and excited when I was reading them, here those feelings were less present. During the most part of the story I was wondering, what if Bracken hadn’t had this happen to him, what if he was still the guy like before? Would Madisyn and he have been together? It had me thinking about the true mates bond and wondering if it’s possible that the mates aren’t always compatible?
‘Echoes of fire’ is a good story. I just wasn’t prepared for this ‘new version’ of Bracken in this story and I missed the ‘old’ Bracken a bit.
Echoes of Fire has to be my favorite Suzanne Wright novel… to date. Her spin on the shifter world, the introduction of a shifter animal I’ve not seen anywhere before and the ease with which I’m transported back into her worlds every single time I pick up a new book are just a few of the reasons why I look forward to the continuing adventures of The Phoenix Pack and The Mercury Pack series. And, yes, I mention both packs for we will be seeing some old friends along the way, and maybe stirring up some memories of the past as well.
Alright, folks, can we all say badass. Madisyn and her animal are completely kick but, takes names, won’t break a sweat or a claw badass. She’s a loner, has no filter whatsoever and is a perfect match for Bracken. We’ve met Brack before, yet this Bracken is edgier, darker and… more in control, yet out of control in the same moment. I know that doesn’t make sense, but it is a feeling that flows off of him in this story. And Madisyn is the only one who can really reach him now. She “gets” him but she’s not about to let him take over either. Each are strong, determined and just fit together right – and they should, they are after all mates.
I’m not about to give spoilers away… so Echoes of Fire is an intense, action packed story that will grab your attention and not let go til the end… and even then you’ll be thinking and waiting for the next story. There is danger, history, sizzling sexy times, friends and foes… and a damned good story to be found in the latest addition to The Mercury Pack world. And I loved every second back in this world.
To be frank, I, personally, don’t think a reader will get the full impact or understanding of the nuances of this world if they start at Echoes of Fire. This is a series, and a spin off series, that really needs to be read in order. This is a world… and to “get” that world you need to know the entire story of it… in my opinion. Could you read this alone and enjoy it? Of course. Yet I don’t believe you’ll understand the whys of it all, or the underlying reasons. If you possibly can, please consider starting at the beginning.
I was caught up in this world once again and would not hesitate to recommend Echoes of Fire and these two entire series to any Paranormal Romance, Shifter Romance reader who enjoys intricate stories, intriguing situations, a rarely seen shifter animal and a really good story to sink teeth or claws into.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
5 stars for Bracken
5 stars for Madisyn
5 stars for feral kitty cats
5 + 5 + 5 ...yep definitely another winner for me. I for one am just going to say this is a very biased review. I love Suzanne's writing since I first discovered Feral Sins. More than a dozen books later and I wanna say we're besties 😘 hmm a girl can dream.
Anywho, Bracken is lowkey manipulative. Me likely. He's the quintessential caveman possessive "your mine " grrrrrr alpha but he does it subtle like so by the time she's getting those vibes it's a done deal.
Madisyn is so strong and badass not unlike other heroines in this series but everyone has their own unique quirks and identifiers that it doesnt bore us.
Snarks, smackdowns and schemes galore but with our favorite wolves and their menagerie they always come out on top and in style. Definitely a must read 💜💜
This series has a formula but the author writes it so well it doesn’t feel repetitive. Two strong and likeable people coming together and navigating their mate bond. I was engaged in the story and I really liked characters.
Due to a personal tragedy, Bracken has changed from an affable, but shallow, pack member into a brooding alpha male, battling with inner demons. Madisyn is a loner shifter who works at the bar the Mercury Pack owns.. She knows Bracken and thinks of him as a friend. A mate isn't on either of their radar. Until it is.
With trouble all around them, can these two independent shifters come together, not only as a couple, but also to help put a stop to the danger they are facing? I recommend reading for yourself to see exactly what happens.
Loved this story! Bracken and Madisyn are awesome together. Plus we get the other Mercury Pack wolves and Phoenix Pack wolves who love to be a part of everyone's lives and to have their back when needed. Ms. Wright is a shifter-writing goddess. Lol
I was gifted a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias.
