A brilliant format, organised into seasons and will be useful no matter where you are in the world. With growing tip and suggestions of what seeds to order for each season, you can't go wrong.

Organized by season, with suggestions for what to do (order seed catalogs in winter) and when to plant. Colorful and approachable. Includes gardening wisdom (hence the title, I guess...) and quotations.

Vegetable Gardening Wisdom by Kelly Smith Trimble, gives good advice for the novice gardener with short articles and quotes in an easy to read format. The book has very nice illustrations, recipes, and advice just in time to plant your Spring garden. This would make a cute gift to a friend who is maybe thinking of starting their first garden.

4.25 This is an excellent book designed mainly for the beginning gardener set up in an easy to read format, with a wealth of useful information to get you started. The average gardener will enjoy this book as well though. Being an average gardener myself I already knew most of the advice given throughout the book but what I enjoyed most were the quotes throughout the book given by authors of other gardening type of books and have already purchased one of the books quoted. What a useful resource to find other gardening books! Iwill definitely will be researching more books that were quoted. I loved the format of this book and it doesn’t bog you down with too many details that are in many gardening books.

A different kind of gardening book for those readers who do not like the school book format of A lot of books today. With short articles mixed in with gardening quotes and recipes, readers can read A lot, a little or skip around without losing the lessons the book is designed to share. Add in the gorgeous photography and you'll find yourself turning these pages many, many times. Three generations of gardeners from novice to expert gave 5 stars to this book.

I really enjoyed this book. Rather than big walls of text or complicated, detailed information, this book presents usable advice in small bites, augmented with inspiring quotes from various gardeners and books, a few easy recipes, and lovely illustrations. If you're looking for something to spark your garden excitement again, this will do it!

This is a sweet gardening book that is a cross between a helpful hints book and an inspirational quotes book, with lots of colorful illustrations to up the eye appeal. Each page has a simple tip or a gardening quote, surrounded by a colorful pattern or with a hand drawn illustration. Tips and quotes are broken up into seasons -- spring, summer and fall. There were a few tips that were new to me and a few simple recipes I made a mental note to try. Some of the book quotes resonated enough with me that I ordered the books from my library to read more from those authors.

This would make a nice coffee table book or gift for a gardener. It's not really a must-have but it would be especially nice to read on a cold winter day away from the garden.

I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for the purpose of review.

I love how this book is laid out. It contains four sections, (one for each season).

Throughout the pages, there is quite a bit of growing advice. Additionally, there are tested soil remedies, garden quotes, and simple recipes.

I found the illustrations to be exceptionally appealing. Instead of boring stock photos, there are artistic sketches of garden plants. Nice touch!

Thanks to #NetGalley, I had an advanced PDF to read and review.

A nice book with lots of tips and information on each page. A great book to flick through and find something new that is enlightening. One could get very lost in this book for hours. I really like it and it certainly fills a need when I can't get out into the garden because of weather or health. With hand drawn illustrations and using various font it is never boring but always intriguing.

I loved this sweet little book of gardening wisdom. Perfect for a new or seasoned gardener. Bite sized information you can devour in one sitting or pick up at will from your coffee table. Thoughtful quotes sprinkled throughout that made me want to read more.

Interesting concept and the design offers a lot of appeal. Unfortunately it was of little interest to me as a gardener. A quick Google would give you the same information offered in this book. May work as a gift to a new gardener. This is certainly not a how to.

I will use some of the advices in my garden for sure.
This is a book for everyone who have garden.
I plan to give this book as a gift to my friends and family that love to spend time in their own gardens.

As an inspirational book giving snippets of advice it's a lovely book. It's not a step by step guide to growing but for a relatively new vegetable gardener I got lots of tips and lots of encouragement to try new things.

This book is both inspirational and beautiful. It is sure to please a newbie gardener looking for inspiration. That being said, there isn't much information here for a seasoned gardener. All information sits on one page which is good for breadth but the depth here is a bit lacking.

It is December and in Zone 7, the summer garden is a distant(though fond) memory. With the exception of one cold frame with hearty greens, everything else has been harvested and all I see are empty beds waiting for next year's planting. So what happens now? Well, I review the season's successes and failures, make plans for next year's garden, peruse the arriving seed catalogs and read gardening books!
Vegetable Gardening Wisdom is different than the in-depth books I usually choose. It is divided into four sections: Late Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. Each page then provides a tip, suggestion, quote, or some type of information. It might be a recipe, or facts about healthy soil, a tip on seed starting or another 'nugget' of information. I found myself reading this while 'obeying' my Fitbit and using the 2 minute Relax setting. Every page had me thinking about a different aspect of gardening. The illustrations are lovely and I found myself looking forward to reading this every night after getting home from work and before mealtime madness.
I can't imagine a gardener(whether a novice or newbie) who wouldn't enjoy this book. I'm excited about the April 2019 publication since now I know what my best friend will be getting for her May birthday.
I received a DRC from Storey Publishing through NetGalley.
4.5 shiny stars. I will be posting to other platforms closer to publication.

This is such a fun and informative book! I just started my first vegetable garden this past summer, and after reading this book I have a lot of ideas for improving my garden next year. I love the artwork in this book so much...black and white drawings with tons of detail. The author is very knowledgeable on the subject and gives a very thorough overview of growing your own vegetables. Now if only Spring would only hurry up and get here so i can put all these ideas to use! I highly recommend this book. I received an advance reader copy of this book via netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

This is not a step-by-step how-to book, it's more of a source of inspiration for anyone new to vegetable gardening, exactly as the cover suggests. The illustrations and design of the book are lovely and it's the type of book to dip in and out of as it does contain a lot of useful bite-size tips however if you are a beginner looking for specifics as to how to plant and tend to a vegetable garden you will need to look elsewhere. This book would make a lovely present for anyone who has an interest in gardening and growing their own veggies.

Thanks to Storey Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The idea of this book is interesting but it may not be for me. I am not fond of getting bits of advices this way and I must also say the design and colours did not suit me at all.

A unique concept among gardening books, this one has snippets of garden wisdom attractively situated on each page. Not necessarily an efficient use of page space, but for those who have short attention spans or less time, it might work. The "gardening wisdom" shared is of good quality, easy reading, and includes quotations from other famous gardening and food personalities, such as Mel Bartholomew, Barbara Kingsolver, and Anthony Bordain. Recipes are scattered among these pages, as well as hand-drawn illustrations of various concepts or vegetables. Definitely not a "how to garden" manual, but still imparts wisdom as the title claims. I'd recommend it for the beginning gardener as a "fun" read that will teach you some things along the way.
