Wow, oh how I could read 900 pages of this. The setting is beautiful, taking the classic kingdom setting and mixing it with the sea, islands and sand has me imagining this book playing out in my head. Samantha Shannon has a way of making this world deliciously beautiful. The characters are cut throat and daring, their actions keep you on the edge of your seat.
I definitely need Shannon’s other books in my collection.
Only problem with this book was.... IT WAS ONLY A SAMPLER AND I NEED THIS WHOLE BOOK RIGHT NOW!!!

This excerpt was so awesome, I can’t wait to read the rest of the book!! I loved the dragons and the politics.

Never in my life have I been SO. BUMMED. that all I had in hand was an extract. I knew, after only reading a little ways, that I needed the full novel as soon as humanly possible. What an incredible story this is going to be!

I think the beginning was a bit messy. I understand that the author had to set the ground for the story but maybe she gave us too much information all at once and it all became a bit chaotic. Also the first few chapters didn’t really flow well but then it got much better.
The premise of this book really does sound great and like something I would enjoy and so I’m willing to give this book a chance when it comes out in February!

Samantha Shannon has a lovely way with words. She quickly became my favourite author after The Bone Season. While this book is much different from TBS, it is just as great! The preview of the book left me wanting more. I can't wait until my preorder arrives and I can finally read more about these fantastic creatures and learn more about the wonderful characters.

This is SO epic and right away i want the whole book!! I cannot wait for this!
It seems on par with Game of Thrones where this whole new world is waiting and you cant read enough of it!

Read the excerpt....
hooked to the book..
Need The Priory of the Orange Tree like I need air to breathe...

The 26th of February cannot come soon enough! I'm so glad I have Priory of the Orange Tree preordered. In this extract, Samantha Shannon gives us an insight into the world and characters she has spent the last three years meticulously crafting, and I'll say it was without a shadow of a doubt worth the wait. I eagerly anticipate reading the rest of this large tome upon release date, and will write a full, comprehensive review upon finishing such.

An enchanting and gripping start to what I can only imagine to be a favorite fantasy read. As a fan of Samantha Shannon's TBS series, I'm partial to her world-building and story-telling style, but she is truly taking it to the next level with this latest high-fantasy standalone.
I'm already invested in the strong cast of characters, and look forward to reading more about the world Shannon's created for her readers.

This little excerpt has me excited to finish the book. I hate that it ended, but man this book is going to be one wild ride

A promising start to what I think will be an engrossing novel. Two cultures, two faiths, and two women appear to be poised to break new ground in their own territories by managing political and personal challenges. One, trained from birth to ride dragons in defense of her kingdom, attains her goal of becoming a dragon ride, but her willingness to take risks by sheltering outsiders and seeking answers about her heritage place her in a precarious spot. The other, a servant of the leader of her matriarchal society, is being manipulated by political forces as she seeks political knowledge herself. I hope the full book will be available to read soon.

I've never read anything by Samantha Shannon, however I'm desperately awaiting the arrival of Priory of the Orange Tree. This taster is fantastic and leaves me wanting more. Bring on February!

This extract shows an example of what is shaping up to be an impressive epic fantasy. I love that there is such an abundance of strong female characters - not just add-ons or helpless characters. As with starting any epic fantasy, it can be confusing at first with the multiple viewpoints and storylines being established and it takes some effort to remember who is who and doing what, and to form bonds with the characters, however, towards the end of the extract the lines begin to connect between the characters and the intrigue of the plot begins to emerge. It definitely leaves an interest in discovering the developments of the storyline to come. I would have loved to read more and discover the characters and their motives and lives further, and was definitely disappointed when I reached the end of the extract! If you are a fan of epic fantasy (and of dragons!), this is for you.

Just the first 100 pages of this book have me hooked. I can't wait to learn more about the characters and finally meet the dragons!

This excerpt is amazing! I am definitely interested in this book and cannot wait for it to come out. I love the author's writing style and the pace of the story-slow but enough information and action to keep the story going.

Beautiful writing, intriguing plot and one of my most anticipated reads of 2019. I've got two copies (one physical, one ebook) and the day of release booked off work to read it!

Shannon creates this atmospheric realm of excitement that I get with her other published works. The premise and characters sounds great! Will look forward to reading the rest when this title is released.

"Her scales were a pale, clouded green, like milk jade, her mane the golden-brown of riverweed."
OH. MY. GLOB. This excerpt gave me more than I wished for and I'm trembling with excitement for this 800+ page epic this February! Never have I read a tale about dragons more vividly than this one, and this is not to say that dragons are the only thing that makes this book a whole lot more interesting. There are political schemings, layered characters of noble duties and ambiguous morality, and an endearing innocence in the magic of this world. I'll surely be reading the book when it gets published this Feburary 2019!

I seriously can not wait for the actual book to be released! Samantha Shannon did it again and this small glimpse blew me away!

Samantha Shannon has a way with words! She always creates incredible vivid worlds and believable characters.
Unlike the Bone Season this story is written in 3rd person and I really like that! The story flows so naturally. I have no words, Samantha is amazing! I was intrigued from the very first page.
There are a lot of characters and they're all so different. I can't wait to read the rest of the story, this was just an excerpt, there is so much more! And I need more!
This is the epic fantasy we've all been waiting for!
