Lauren has spent years running from the tragic suicide of her stepsister and BFF Hannah. Now, 10 years later, she returns to her hometown to pay her respects and catch up with old friends,. As she is there, she finds Hannah's diary and uncovers secrets and starts to receive odd texts such as "I don't know why you're back, but I know why you left". Hannah is dead, right? Is there more to her death than previously thought? What secrets are others hiding?
I found this to be an enjoyable thriller - although it did feel like more of an YA book than adult. It kept me turning the pages until the very end - very good debut novel!
Thank you to Vikki Patis, Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC of this great book!

Lauren and Hannah were sister for two years when Hannah's mom moved in with Laurens dad. They were as close as real sisters. Until they had a fight and Hannah's mean streak came out. Hannah knew everybody's secrets. In her 18th birthday she killed herself. On the tenth anniversary of Hannah's death there is a memorial planned Lauren plans to go she doesn't want to but she goes for her dad. Lauren and some Hannah's friend's started getting strange texts as soon as she gets back to her hometown. Who's sending the text and why?? I want to thank NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book for an honest opinion. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to my friends.

In The Diary Vikki Patis takes the reader back in forth in time in our heroine's life, to when she was a teenager. Because of this at times it feels like a YA novel. Ms Patis keeps the reader guessing and gives us some edge of the seat moments. I was given an early copy to review.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I thought this was a well written and perfectly paced suspenseful thriller.
I was drawn into this story from page 1 and couldn’t put the book down until I finished it.
An unexpected and great ending from a 1st time author.
I can’t wait to read what she writes next.

The Diary by Vikki Patis is a thriller read with Lauren returning to her hometown and childhood friends to mark the tenth anniversary of her friend Hannah's death. But it is not all it seems when the group starts receiving text messages from an unknown number.

Although I did enjoy this book, I found it much to similar to the Pretty Little Liars franchise. In saying that it was easy to read and I did enjoy the twists and turns. I wanted to know more about Hannah and her life and I felt like this was skimmed over a little bit. I wanted to get into the characters a little deeper than this book allowed.

This is a great beach-read for anyone who did enjoy Pretty Little Liars and anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers.

I was given this e-book on NetGalley for an honest review.

I found this quite a tame psychological thriller - yet I did want to continue reading. Written to be tense I just wasn't on tenterhooks but I could well imagine a lot of people would be so don't let my 3* rating put you off!

Lauren goes back to her home town for the 10th anniversary of her stepsister's (Hannah's) suicide - whilst there she meets up with old 'friends' who are all receiving similar creepy messages implying he/she knew their secrets and trying to get Lauren to leave town again.

Lauren finds Hannah's diary from the time leading up to her death - could some of the secrets be found in there? Why did Hannah kill herself? And does one of her friends know more than they're letting on?

I think overall I just didn't like any of the characters therefore couldn't invest in their feelings or the taut atmosphere surrounding them. The friends, and I use the term loosely, were horrible and each seemed to be looking out for themselves! However it was still a page-turner and although I had figured out who was sending the messages I still wanted to know why they had done it and found the ending interesting as it all came together.

My thanks to Bookouture via NetGalley for providing me with this advanced reading copy in exchange for an honest review.

A thriller based book. Lots of twist and many tenses moments are to be had with this book. Many unspoken secrets and an ending that I never predicted- which is always good.
Thank you to both NetGalley and Bookouture for my eARC in exchange for my review

Interesting book. Good character build up. However this seems to be a big take on Pretty Little Liars that came out years ago. And was more entertaining. The author writes well and makes for an interesting story, but in some parts it goes too long.

* I think the author / publisher/netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for fair and honest review.*

I wanted to like this more than I actually did. The story moved from present day to 10 years prior with a bunch of teenage girls. When we were in present day, it seemed that we were still with a bunch of teenage girls. BLECH!

Many thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for this advanced readers copy.

The Diary is a psychological thriller that’s tense, gritty and builds up to a great ending. There’s secrets, lies and sisterhood. It’s well written and keeps great pace throughout and I look forward to reading more from this author.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the chance to review.

After ten years away from her childhood home, Lauren returns home. It’s the anniversary of Hannah’s death. Hannah committed suicide and Lauren is the one that found her. The story continues going back in forth in time, we learn about Hannah, Lauren and her friends and the events that led up to her death and meeting them ten years later and how all their lives have changed.
I was looking forward to read this and I liked the premise of this story but, this book just didn’t do it for me. There were no likeable characters and I felt that the story was so repetitive. Also this is described as suspenseful psychological thriller. I didn’t feel it like that, just an ok read.
Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for an ARC of The Diary by Vikki Pattis.

I could not put it down! The plot draws you in and keeps you guessing the whole way along.

You think you see something as a clue and have an idea of what's happening and then it just doesn't unfold that way!
I've read many books where you kinda know very early on what's happening and who to point the finger at but that isn't the case with this book.
I read this and the whole time I couldn't help thinking how very pretty little liars / thirteen reasons why it felt to me.

A fantastic written book praise to the author cannot wait to read some more Vikki Patis titles, you know how to draw a reader in and keep them there.
Thank you to netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book.

The Diary is a suspenseful and great book. Lauren comes home to her old town to visit her dad She hasn’t been there since her nest friend Hannah died 10 years earlier. It’s a edge of your seat thriller.

‘I know all your secrets, Lauren.’

Lauren has spent years running away from her home town, her childhood and the memories of her best friend, Hannah. Until the tenth anniversary of Hannah’s death forces her to return home and to the group of friends she abandoned there. It should be a quick visit, just so Lauren can pay her respects.
At home, Lauren finds Hannah’s old diary. A diary full of secrets. The terrible things Lauren did, the lies she’s told, the reason she ran away. And she receives a message: ‘I don’t know why you’re back, but I know why you left.’
But no-one else has seen the diary, and Hannah’s dead, isn’t she?

I was really excited to start reading The Diary
by Vikki Patis, as soon as I started this book I couldn't put it down! There were parts that I didn't see coming, with an ending that wowed! I would recommend The Diary to anyone who loves a good thriller!

I really wanted to like this book but it was hard. The description was so enticing but unfortunately the book does not deliver. There are many under developed characters in this book that it feels like you are lost and have no idea who to focus on.
The plot lacks structure and thrill. This one wasn’t for me.

The story flicks between now and then. In the present, Lauren makes the hard decision to return back to her family home for the ten year anniversary of Hannah's death. The past we get to see more of Lauren and Hannah's relationship as well as what life was like back when they were in their teens and the build up to Hannah's untimely death.

This book is packed full of secrets and who doesn't love a good secret? Hannah I kind of had mixed feelings about. In a way she is very much like a big sister to Lauren, always looking out for her, but in the same breath, at times it felt like a bit to much. It almost felt like rediscovering who someone really is. Hannah's diary certainly opens a whole can of worms and even has Lauren questioning how well she truly knew her.

You can definitely feel the build up of tension as the story progresses. I really enjoyed reading of Lauren and her dads relationship and it felt like the bond between them was growing tighter which I loved. It was also interesting to see how Lauren's relationship with her old school friends differed. All of them have their own secrets that they don't want to get out and I couldn't wait to find out just who was behind it all.

The Diary hooks you in from the start and kept me there until the very end. It makes you think about just how well you really know people. I thought the conclusion was very satisfying and well worth the build up of suspense. An enthralling page turner of a read.

This is the type of book that I enjoy and while I had an idea who was sending the messages, until the end I was a bit unsure and that is down to a clever author, as the book went on more characters were reintroduced and the probability of it being one of those grew. I would definitely recommend reading this and will be going back to read more in the future. I would like to thank bookouture and netgalley for letting me have the book to review.

An unique storyline that kept me interested throughout the book. The mystery of the plot was good, although not as suspenseful as what I was expecting, due to the summary of the book. A first read from this author, and I would try her again.

Just ok for me. Nothing really outstanding in this book to want me to keep picking it up. Not likely no recommend.
