No matter where you choose to find these wonderful words or what format you enjoy this book, it is FOR EVERYONE. It will fill your heart with peace, love, and acceptance. The world never stops needing words like this.
This book is lovely. It gets this reader for nostalgia. Some of the poems I remember as the songs they were. For many they seem new. I like introducing children to poetry through songs. Many of this generation will not notice the difference, thereby making a great lesson and hopefully better music in generations to come).

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood is a collection of poems/songs from the the children’s program that starred Fred Rogers. If you grew up watching Mr. Rogers Neighborhood as I did, reading this collection will evoke strong feelings of nostalgia. While reading, I felt compelled to read aloud and on occasion sing aloud if I remembered the melody. The illustrations fit nicely with the collection and featured characters from the show. I purchased a copy for our K-5 library as I have been consistently adding poetry collections that I hope are accessible and provide an enjoyable reading experience for the students.
What a delightful treasure of a book! Any fan of Mr. Rogers will love this collection of his poems/songs. Some of them are very well known, others less so. The illustrations are beautiful and nostalgic and remind me of so many times Mr. Rogers helped me in my childhood. My children also love watching his old show and enjoyed this book as well.
What a great book for a any child's personal library and a wonderful addition to any classroom or library.
The publisher provided an ARC through Netgalley. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book so much. I grew up with Mister Rogers and to this day still love him. I read this book many times and love it more and more each time. I highly recommend it to anyone.
This is really a children's book, but it took me down nostalgia lane. I very much enjoyed revisiting these songs and enjoying the illustrations. I also dindt know he had a co-writer who wrote most of the songs, where Fred Rogers created the music. It's a fascinating discovery into children's television of the 60s and 70s.
5 stars! If you love Fred Rogers you must own this. It has all of his sweet, loving songs he used in his tv show. Many he wrote and come from his great big heart that was filled with love compassion, and tolerance for all others.
Fred loved kids and wanted them to feel that love and acceptance. He treated everyone the same. The words are beautiful. I will purchase a copy for my classroom.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me a digital copy to read for review. It is just perfect.
Such a great book of poetry by a wonderful man! I also loved the pictures. Can’t wait to read some of this with my 3 year old!
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book!
Wow, this book takes be back!!!
I'm not much for poetry, but I could sit and listen to Mister Rogers for hours! Some of these poems triggered the whole singing memory from 25 or 30 years ago. Some of them I didn't remember, but that's ok. They were still fun.
Sharing this book with my boys, well they may not get the same joy, but they will be better for it. Awesome poems dealing with emotional issues like loneliness and anger, Joy, differences, etc!!
And with everything from walking a pet giraffe to friendship and Identity, this little book of poetry is amazing!
The illustrations are gorgeous and inviting.
Please note I recieve a copy of this book from @NetGalley. I chose to review it here, all thoughts are my own,
I was practically raised on Mr. Roger's Neighborhood and his songs so I had to check out this book. The illustrations are darling and complimented the nostalgia I felt as I read. We purchased a physical copy for our library and, admittedly, I prefer it over the ebook. The illustrations didn't seem to line up with the songs as well that way. But the physical book was lovely.
Beautifully charming illustrations accompany the poems/song lyrics of Fred Rogers and well as some of his colleagues. This is a sweet addition to any collection.
You don't have to have grown up watching Fred Rogers on television to appreciate A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, but if you did, it is a nostalgic treat. Rogers' genuine care and comprehension of children is evident in this compilation of poetry that is meant to brighten days and understand that it's okay to be different and to feel what we feel. The illustrations are beautiful and colourful, sometimes taking us back to scenes from Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood, or showing multicultural and differently-abled individuals. A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood is both a throwback and exactly the type of book we need today.
Thank you very much for allowing me the opportunity to read this book! I appreciate the kindness. <3
Mr. Rogers was one of the greatest television shows that my kids watched. His gentleness, positive outlook and simple stories captured the attention of my children. When my grandchildren come over, they watch Daniel Tiger, a series developed from one of his skits. I loved these poems, they are so encouraging and positive. Though they are written as poems, they were actually songs from the series, Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. I can hear Mr. Rogers voice as I read them. I have been reading them to my grandson when he comes over and we are not rushing, but reading one or two at a time and talking about them. Things like it is okay to be sad sometimes, it's not what you wear that I like. Dealing with emotions is not the easiest thing to do and this book helps teach children about that. The illustrations were also well done and matched the poems well. This is a book that should be in every family library. I know I am buying one for my grandchildren. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book upon my request. The rating, ideas and opinions shared are my own.
This is a wonderful collection of the poetry and songs from the Mister Rogers' Neighborhood series. It brought me back to my childhood and all of those memories watching Mister Rogers on TV, and the illustrations inside modernize and bring it to life all over again for old and new audiences alike. This would make an amazing gift for all ages, and the poetry in this book remind us of all the lessons and goodness Mister Rogers taught us over the years.
I love anything with Mr. Rogers name or face on it. Such a lovely human being, that brings on the warm fuzzies a million times over.
I have grown to love Mr. Rogers as an adult, though I never watched the show as a child. But the message of love and worth he shared with kids, consistently and insistently, is something our world needs so much right now. And his own personal growth in tolerance as an adult gives me hope that everyone can change and become even more big-hearted.
These verse lyrics are not deep poetry. They are not as clever as, say, Sesame Street's brilliant lyrics. But they are full of the warmth and heart of Fred Rogers, and I think that makes this a wonderful book to read or sing with kids.

Mr. Rogers (Fred McFeeley Rogers) influenced several generations of children with his kind and gentle ways in his television neighborhood. He understood that children need routines to feel safe so he started and ended his show the same way each day. Now we have a compilation of his poetry which, as a trained composer, he put to music as well.
I enjoyed reading his poems. They have a wide range of topics, but contain reassuring verses to help children understand their feelings, and the world around them. He is not shy about sharing his love and encouraging children to do the same. Other topics he addresses include positivity, doing your best, feeling good about yourself just the way you are, and parents. One poem that I think particularly demonstrates his understanding of childhood fears is “You Can Never Go Down the Drain.”
I think this would be a fun book to share with children, choosing poems at random or when a child has a particular need. The illustrations are colorful and reflect the magic of Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood. This book ends with a brief biography for adults of a fascinating man who has influenced so many in a positive way.
I would like to extend my thanks to netgalley.com and to Quirk Books for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Memorable Lines:
You’ve made this day a special day by just your being here.
It isn’t by size that you win or you fail. Be the best of whatever you are.
It is the people you like the most
Who can make you feel the maddest.
It’s you I like.
It’s not the things you wear.
It’s not the way you do your hair.
But it’s you I like.
A fond remembrance of a show that meant so much to so many. It's also a lovely book for adults to share with children.
A beautiful homage to Mr. Rogers.
Vibrant images compliment the words to many of Mr. Rogers' most famous songs and poems. For a love of Mr. Rogers, this is a must have!
