Great thriller, could no put it down through all the twists and turns. Would highly recommend to fans of this genre. A very intriguing spy thriller.
I have to admit that I am a huge fan of anything espionage or secret service related. Secretly, I have an ambition to be a spy but having ginger hair and being loud makes me stand out a bit. I love the James Bond movies and have seen them all. I haven’t read any of the Bond books but I have no doubt that I will. Anyway back to the point. I read the synopsis for ‘The Failsafe Query’ and it certainly sounded like a James Bond kind of read. I needed a bit of excitement so I grabbed my Kindle, grabbed a cup of tea and then settled down for one hell of an adventure. I thoroughly enjoyed ‘The Failsafe Query’ but more about that in a bit.
It’s no word of a lie when I say that I became hooked on this book from the moment I read the synopsis. It sounded like just the kind of read I enjoy and so I eagerly dived straight in. I had only intended to read a couple of chapters but I ended up become so wrapped up in the story that I read way more than any couple of chapters. I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough as I became desperate to find out how the story panned out for certain individuals. It seems like a huge understatement to say that reading ‘The Failsafe Query’ became addictive. I constantly wanted to read more and more. This was one of those gripping reads that had me on the edge of my seat and kept my attention throughout.
‘The Failsafe Query’ is extremely well written. The author certainly knows how to instantly grab your attention and draw you into the story. For me, ‘The Failsafe Query’ hits the ground running and maintains a fast pace throughout. Reading ‘The Failsafe Query’ felt like being on one hell of a scary and unpredictable rollercoaster ride with more twists and turns to the story than you would find on a ‘Snakes & Ladders’ board. Just when you thought that the action had settled down long enough to take a breather, reclaim your stomach and gather your thoughts then off the action would go again. There were times when I almost had to read through my fingers as I feared what was going to happen next.
In short, I thoroughly enjoyed ‘The Failsafe Query’ and I would definitely recommend it to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Michael’s work in the future and when I finish typing the review, I am off to download the other books in the series. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.
This was a very difficult read. It was overwritten and far too ponderous. Any good ideas are lost in far too many words. Definitely in need of a good edit.
