Ella keeps to herself. Goes to work and comes home. You know she’s damaged but not sure why. One night while riding her bike home from work she gets hit by a van and ends up in the hospital. Her “husband” comes by the hospital and picks her up. The husband she doesn’t have. A crazy, wild ride of a novel. I loved it!

Having enjoyed a sample of this book, and adding it to my list of Must Read I was delighted to be offered a download by Netgalley. So I settled down to what I hoped would be a really good nail-biting thriller.....

Ella, mousy, secretive and let's be honest - boring, works in an office where she barely communicates with anyone, socialises with no-one, but is super-duper efficient, is involved in a hit-and-run accident as she cycles home one night. When she awakes from a coma, she finds herself in hospital with a total stranger standing by her bed, clasping her hand and declaring his undying love for her. Who the heck is he!

Meet Jacob, the mysterious "husband" who whisks Ella-Bella (aaagh, even I could scream at that!) away to his big, brand new house, having terminated the lease on her flat, disposed of most of her belongings, and is now keeping her prisoner. So there she is, this Ella-Bella, with her leg in a cast, her heart thumping, her head throbbing, locked in, under surveillance thanks to the CCTV Jacob has installed, with no way out. She cries - a lot. How will she escape? Maybe Liam, the one person at work who has repeatedly tried to befriend her, will come to her rescue. There's obviously a history between her and Jacob - he's supposed to be dead, so who is he really?

Personally I couldn't care less. The main characters are so badly drawn, but the little we do have makes me dislike them both. I should feel sympathy for Ella, but I don't. I could shake her 'til her teeth rattle. This book just goes on, and on, and on and having now reached the end of my tolerance level at 34% I give up. I'm afraid this book doesn't encourage me to try any of the author's other books.

There are so many books in this genre that it's difficult to pick out one at times. The Liar's Wife intrigued me as I thought from the synopsis it would be something I'd really enjoy. Unfortunately not. Sadly this was not at all my kind of read. Apologies

This one was great!!! Although it used a tried and true trope of "woman wakes up from coma to discover she's married, but she's not really married", Samantha Hayes put a huge twist on it. I read this one in one day and it blew my mind. I always guess the twist and thought I had this one all figured out, but I was dead wrong. Highly recommended!

Think I have found my new favourite author! If you love twisty psychological thrillers that keep you guessing to the very end then this is for you! Excellent read!

No. Just no. This book didn't do anything for me.

When reserved Ella wakes up in the hospital after an accident, she finds herself suddenly married. She has no idea how she got there and who her husband is. Until he walks through the door. Then her life becomes misery personified. She's trapped, she's abused, she's scared. She has no idea how to get out of this situation without bringing forth what happened 10 years before. This is the reason she doesn't try to escape even though she has many opportunities to do so. I waited around to find out her secret and who her "husband" was. Till then I kept thinking it better be good with all that she was going through. Honestly? It wasn't. This was rather dull...….just my opinion.

Dark and creepy, disturbing and quite a ride. Poor Ella wakes up for a coma with a husband, Jacob, who isn't her husband but she must play along. Why you ask? Because he knows her secret.

Jacob is quite the super villain and really gave me the creeps. There were several times while reading I got the all over body shivers from him, so yeah, super creep. But hello darkness, my old friend. This book is not for the faint of heart. I repeat, consider this your warning. 4 solid stars for me though, because I like a little darkness.

Thanks to Netgalley, the author, and the publishers for a copy of this to read and review.

For the life of me, i can't work out why i can't get into this. I'm going to put it down and give it another go later as the other reviews are baffling me as they are so good?

Thank you to the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC of The Liar's Wife by Samantha Hayes.

Ella has always lived a quiet and secluded life. Work, home, sleep, on repeat. She declines invitations to go out, and she avoids making long last friendships. So it makes no sense when she wakes up in the hospital after a terrible accident that there is a man there claiming to be her husband. But when she sees who that man is, her blood runs cold. Has her past come back to haunt her?

I didn't necessarily dislike this book, but sometimes storylines can go a bit too over the top for me. This one was just SO unbelievable that it was borderline ridiculous. I did appreciate the curveballs and intrigue, but c'mon. Not a bad beach read, but I have read better.

I received a digital arc of #TheLiarsWife from #NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I hadn't read anything by this author before but the blurb sounded great so I was excited to read it.

The book grabbed my attention straight away when Ella wakes up in hospital to find a card from her husband - only she has never married. So who is this man and why is he pretending to be her husband? It was then a slow burner of a book which focussed largely on the couple's 'relationship'.

It is clear pretty early on that the two of them share a past and that there is a huge secret which they don't want to come out. When it comes to the big twist near the end, all I can say is wow! It was not what I was expecting at all! I was floored when I read that particular part of the book!! Great twist. I'd definitely recommend.

Wow. This is a brilliant modern thriller. It's really different to the usual storylines. Ella is involved in an accident and when she wakes up, finds she has a husband. But she isn't married! Who is he and what hold does he have over her? Read on!

So Ella wakes up from a coma to be told her husband will be back soon, only problem is she doesn’t have a husband, or does she?

I really liked Liam and Ella and really felt for both of them tbh throughout the story and I wasn’t quite sure to believe what Ella believed was correct or not, it had me going this way and that way and back around again.

Ella’s secret is so bad she basically becomes a total loner as that’s the only way she can keep it a secret and so who is this husband, who is Jacob and what does he know? The book is told from both the past and present so you get to see Ella before and after the “secret” that altered her life.

It’s a bit of a slow burner but one it gets going bam you’re in, great little thriller I enjoyed it a lot.

Really enjoyed this book! Full of twists and turns, most of which I didn't see coming and was quite shocked by. I found it gripping and compulsive and was surprised that it has had some less than stellar reviews from other people. It's true that the plot perhaps isn't that original as there are a few books lately with a similar theme but that didn't detract for me at all. I'm a big fan of Samantha Hayes and am avidly looking forward to her next read!

For some reason I had trouble downloading this book-sorry for the lack of feedback! I'm not sure what happened.

It took me over three weeks to read this book and I think that in itself speaks volumes about my enjoyment of it. I just couldn’t get into it which was disappointing considering the good reviews I had read. It was so far fetched to the point of the ridiculous that I was just constantly rolling my eyes. When the neighbours came round and saw what was going on but didn’t do anything about it that just stretches credulity for me and so I skim read the final 50%. Thanks to Netgalley, the author and Bookoutoure for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review but this just wasn’t for me I’m afraid.

Yet again Ms Hayes has written a simply brilliant psychological thriller . This book was an absolute page turner right from the beginning . I loved it and highly recommend . 5 Big Stars from me .

Phew! My heart is still racing after finishing this book. Absolutely fantastic - full of unexpected twists that kept me right on the edge of my seat.
The hedonistic days at university followed by ten years of living with the consequences and then everything is blown apart when a ghost from Ella’s past reappears. The result is terrifying and tragic.

So, I spent most of the the book completely frustrated. Our 'prisoner' has so many chances to escape, call police, ask for help, etc. She doesn't because she's afraid that people will find out the 'something' she did.

I kept reading, because I was curious about that 'something'. It was...pretty much exactly what you expected it to be. I was hoping for something more.

The ending and the reason for everything is kind of ewwww. And frankly, the name thing was ridiculous. There's no way she wouldn't have capitalized on the truth of that in some sort of effort to break through to that person.

But it did keep me reading out of sheer curiosity.

And that's all I have to say about that.
