This was a funny and romantic story. Tatum is finally getting her dream of becoming a sous chef, but she is working for her ex-boyfriend who has a new girlfriend. Tatum does what many women have done over the years and creates a fake boyfriend. Although Jason isn't really fake. He is the cousin of one of her friends and he has recently moved back to the area.

A fake romance that blossoms into something more, but is it enough.

I've received a ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really had high hopes for this novel and unfortunately I was let down. There was barely any real chemistry between the main characters and it just was engaging enough for me.

Tatum/restaurant staff childish behavior was a total turn off. The fact that Tatum didn't bother standing up for her self and continued to tell lie after lie annoyed me. Jason deserve better and I was really hoping he didn't give her a second chance but we all know in every romance novel, there is always a happy ever after. Tatum ruined the book for me and towards the end, I ended up skimming through the the last few chapters. How I managed to read the entire book without dropping it is a mystery within itself.

Great read - the story of Jason and Tatum. Both recently out of relationships and told to keep away from each other, but they can't help themselves!

Sadly, this book daddy work for me. I liked the last few book by this author I have enjoyed. This one I struggled to even finished. I wished it was more comical and a little more mature.

Leddy Harper is a new author to me, but I liked this book. It was funny, made you feel awkward for the heroine (very awkward at times!) and sweet. I liked Jason and Tatum both and their interactions never felt forced. The secondary characters were good as well and they all had a roll to play in this book. **ARC by NetGalley. All opinions are my own**

I enjoyed this - oh Tatum what a web she weaved! One little white lie and it gathered speed and grew legs! Loved Jason - he took a while to realise what he had and what he wanted but got there in the end. There was humour, some angst and family drama.

This was a wonderfully writtens story with lots of great laughts. It is told in the two main characters view points. It is a little bit forbidden romance but also sorta had a slight love triangle as well.

Tatum meets Jason at her roomies and besties house. Jason has moved back to town after breaking up with his girlfriend. Meanwhile Tatum was engaged and her ex and boss broke her heart and is now dating someone else who works with her and so life is hard for her.

The two meet and hit it off but both are broken hearted and Jason's cousin/Tatum's bestie says do not go there. And so they totally go there. This book features lots of half truths and lots of hijinks. If you want to laugh and fall in love with the characters then you will love this story. Tatum is a total hoot and Jason is her perfect partner.

Mini Review:::

Sadly, this book just wasn't for me. The writing felt choppy and the plot happened far too fast, but at the same time it FELT slow. I just couldn't relate to the characters and their relationship didn't feel genuine.

It does follow the trope of fake dating pretty well, which might interest many readers! But for me, I couldn't invest which broke the experience.

I liked and disliked the book. Overall, it was really good but some scenes bugged me a lot. For example, how the author explains Jason's break up with his girlfriend hit a nerve with me. It was all out in the open over a phone call to a relative. It felt like the author was trying to force the dialogue so the audience would understand Jay didn't give second chances and that he used to be a player but wasn't anymore. I can't reiterate how much it buged me. Again, this scene just felt so forced. It might have been better if the reader continued to think he was a player and gradually learn to trust him as Tatum learns to trust him.

I did think the two together as a couple were really cute. Tatum has a cute clumsy air about her and Jason is typical alpha. However, they don't really even get together until roughly half way through the book. And when I say get together, they don't really date. They are sort of friends. Their relationship builds very slowly and honestly it's awkward in some places. Cute but awkward.

I wouldnt read it again but I did enjoy the book while I was reading it.

Thank you Netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Unfortunately I wasn't too fond of this novel. The
Tatum and Jason's connection was lukewarm at best and their interactions was immature. She just gets dumbed by her fiance who she desperately wants back but as soon as she meets Jason it's all forgotten. Then she's kind of cold to him but has to pretend she likes him because she lied to her friends that he was her boyfriend. The writing had no depth and I felt it describes a high school relationship rather than an adult one.
