I took up crochet about two months ago. I've been hearing about C2C but have yet to tackle it myself, so when I saw this book available for review, it seemed the perfect opportunity to learn more. With an opening explanation of the process, a host of patterns with clear instructions and excellent illustrations, and an appendix of useful stitches and techniques, I found this book a wonderful resource for both those new to C2C and those looking for new inspiration. I appreciated that the patterns were not all for blankets but also included other accessories and fun projects, and many of the designs appealed to me personally. This is definitely a book I will consider buying in the future as it contained some wonderful items that I might like to try as I progress on my crocheting journey.
Stunning contemporary designs, if you think that crochet patterns are all granny squares then think again! The patterns have clear instructions along with a complete colour chart and gorgeous photos of the final pieces. This book is not for you if you are new to crochet but if you are familiar with the basics and want to hand-make some fabulous contemporary accessories for yourself or your home then this is the perfect book for you or to gift to a friend or loved one.
Thanks to F+W Media and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
It's definitely that time of year when I'm thinking of warmer hobbies, and those involving wool (my favourite medium) are just perfect, along with the fact that I love crochet, so this book is ideal.
I hadn't actually heard of C2C crochet before, I have no idea why though because it's such a great idea. I love the look of the stitch used in this method, the diagonal box stitch, and the way of creating items corner to corner just seems such an easy and satisfying way to make something. There's a multitude of designs in this book for everyone, from smaller projects (a hat) to the larger ones (a blanket), with very clear instructions and photos with each project, along with detailed techniques at the end of the book.
I'm definitely going to give the 'Peak-to-Peak Beanie' a try, along with the 'Tapestry Pillow', but I also liked others like the 'Frosted Window Throw'.... so many choices! Lovely book.
Crocheting has quickly become one of my favorite things to do whenever I'm not reading. It has become a true addiction, and I've tackled a few big projects already in the past. As soon as I saw Corner To Corner Crochet I wanted to learn more about the technique. That, and I fell in love with the throw shown on the cover... The corner to corner crochet technique is well described and illustrated with photos to help make it easier to learn the technique. US terms are used in this book, making it easier for me personally, but UK conversions are offered in the back (the stitches are easy, just HDC and DC mainly, so this shouldn't be too difficult). Corner To Corner Crochet offers, apart from the explanation of the technique itself including how to change color and weave ends, 15 patterns using this technique. I especially liked the Faded Arrow pattern, although I would use a bolder color for more contrast. The Wee Wanderer Baby Blanket is adorable as well. But my absolutely favorite is without doubt the Inverse Throw as shown on the cover. I'll definitely be making that one! Or maybe turn the pattern into pillow covers... I'm not sure yet. I also have the right yarn for the Crested Butte Cowl, so I might give that one a go as well. Corner To Corner Crochet was without doubt enlightening, with techniques and stitches explained with both words and numbered photos. I will be looking forward to try this technique myself!
Great for advanced beginners, this book has lots of tips, tricks, helpful suggestions and even basic techniques. The book includes lots of well-designed patterns for pillows, blankets, hats, and several other projects. The blanket patterns were particularly nice.
I enjoyed the way this book was laid out. Having all the basics upfront makes getting into the patterns easier and quicker. I also enjoyed that each of the projects you got a chart and written instructions for so you were able to follow the pattern in which ever format you are more comfortable with which opens the patterns up to a wider audience.
