Girl on the Edge by CD Reiss is a captivating and intense psychological thriller that blends romance with suspense. The story follows a woman struggling with her past and trying to reclaim control of her life, only to find herself drawn into a complex relationship that challenges her emotional boundaries. Reiss’s writing is sharp, gripping, and filled with twists that keep readers on the edge of their seats. It’s a thrilling, emotionally charged read for fans of dark, suspenseful romance with layers of intrigue.
Decent story, not as much of a psychological thriller as I was expecting, but entertaining enough that I pretty much finished in one sitting
This was billed as a psychological thriller but didn’t come across that way to me. Found the focus on the sex scenes quite heavy and spent most of the novel thinking the name of the book was ill chosen. Good premise for a novel but the execution didn’t work for me
Um... yeah nothing annoys me more in terms of reading than when I pick up a novel that has been misrepresented; this is by far the most extreme case of that I have had the displeasure to discover. DNF'd this on pretty early on. I was not the targeted audience.
This book was a thrilling read, and kept me glued to my chair! I love suspenseful books, especially if I don't see twists and turns coming! Recommended.
This one wasn't for me, I found it very difficult to end it. I remember that I didn't finish the story because it was just too much for me. It was hard to understand since the beginning and the first half of the book felt pretty heavy. I tried getting into the story but I guess this genre it's just not for me.
The premise of the book is great and the author really delivers. Great read. Highly recommended. .
Started reading the book and wasn’t enjoying it and do not want to read it. Is this 100 characters yet?
I love the books that this author writes and I was excited to read this one. The first few chapters were engrossing but when the "the thing" made an appearance I lost interest and found it too convoluted.
This one wasn't for me even though I really wanted it to be.. I kept trying to get into it but it wasn't pulling me in or
wouldn't hold me there.
This really wasn't for me. I tried my hardest to get into it but it wasn't pulling me in and holding me there.
CD Reiss is amazing!!!!! This book is FIRE!!!!!! It’s kept this “girl on the edge” of my seat, and TURNING ALL THE PAGES!!!!!
This book was just too slow for me and I couldn’t engage with the characters. Unfortunately, I didn’t finish this book despite trying on a few occasions.
Thankyou to NetGalley, Flip City Media and the author, CD Reiss, for the opportunity to read a digital copy of Girl On The Edge in exchange for an honest and unbiased opinion.
Unfortunately, I struggled to finish reading this book. I had no connection with the characters and felt the storyline was very slow. Not a book for me.
The story behind "Girl on the Edge" is actually quite interesting, but I almost didn't find out because I had a hard time getting through the first half of the book. At first, the book appears disjointed and is hard to understand, what is going with Caden and is all this just an excuse to set up BDSM sex scenes. But after the 50% mark, with some more clarity about what's going on with Caden, the story got much more interesting. I think the lens through which this book is view also affects how it will be perceived. As erotica it succeeds: it's definitely erotic, but there's more to the story to keep it interesting. If it is meant to be more of a thriller, it would have benefitted from dialing down on the sex and delivering a more detailed emotional portrayal of the characters.
Thanks to NetGalley for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I just could not connect to this book. It was well written, but more of an erotic book than I like. I’m more New Adult with some romance. I couldn’t connect to the characters, I just couldn’t picture any of them.
The Edge is a series and not my genre. This is more erotica and not to my taste. As other reviewers have mentioned it does touch on issues regarding PTSD. Thank you #netgalley for the free e copy,
Girl in the Edge was just not for me. I just could not get into the book and it was a struggle to finish it. I wanted to like it.
I really wanted to love this book but I couldn’t. It had a great plot about a wife dealing with her husband’s PTSD but I just couldn’t connect with the characters like I wanted to. I found myself skipping over parts and that’s just not me. I’ll come back later and try again.
This book had a decent story and plot line about an army couple dealing with PSTD and split personality disorder all thanks to a controversial method/ medication designed to eradicate stress/ mental weakness and enhance physical performance during active war.....the problem is it just took too long to get anywhere with it. For almost half the book, there was nothing but a lot of rough, BSDM sex between the couple (their way of dealing with the situation) and it just got repetitive and tiresome. There were 2-3 instances when I was almost tempted to give up on it because I was frustrated! The pacing was alright too but for a book that is supposed to be a fast paced, psychological thriller, it sure took it's own time to finally get to the 'thrilling' part.
My thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the ARC. I really hoped I could give this book a higher rating but I feel what let it down was the sheer length (over 700 pages) it required to tell the story.
