Great concept but the execution was lacking. This story was way too long! Had it been edited down to a reasonable length then it would have been much more enjoyable. I like details and well developed characters but this story gets bogged down in the details. The gratuitous sex becomes repetitive and distracts from the story after a while. There is a good story in there but it was just too much of one.

Every once in awhile, I come across a book that although I started, I just can't finish. Hence, I am not going to submit a review for this book to any sites. My overall feel, was that in the part that I did read, the plot was there mainly just to give an excuse for sex scenes. There was potential but I find it difficult to read a book that so clearly is using the story to advance the sex.

This book is too long ,there are too many unnecessary details and you lost your bit while you reading .It s dark /erotic / psyhological / medical thriller and main characters described like two strong and full of love couple who struggle of PTSP . But it was more -sadisam , masohisam , anal ... This is too much for me . .Sorry , plot was good but this book was not for me . Thank you Net Galley and publisher for this opportunity .

Girl on The Edge by C.D.Reiss is a mindblowing psychological thriller. She plays with intense and sensitive topics like war, dissociation, post traumatic stress and complexities of marriage. Greysen and Caden are both wounded from battles within and in the field. They are back to civil life but can they really leave the war behind completely? Caden is changed somehow but they don't know that the worst is yet to come. The depth and layering of the story is impeccable. I have been a fan of her writing forever. She never fails to impress me with her word play, character building and story telling. Her writing is both smart and primal. You will find your own mind getting sucked deep into the blind alleys of psychological games. It is astonishing how she researched about these difficult issues. The emotions, the passion , the mystery and the breathtaking sharp story will leave you breathless. You won't know what is going to hit you. The journey is heartbreaking and nerve wrecking. Girl on The Edge would make you sit on the edge of seat literally and you won't be able to stop once you start. A perfect read for any reader who loves thriller and mind games with a hint of passion.

Really not for me I'm afraid. Too long, drawn out and I couldn't get through it. Sorry I know others have really enjoyed it.

Girl on the Edge by CD Reiss was a dark psychological thriller which investigates the triggers and treatments for post-traumatic stress disorder.

Greyson and Caden are a married couple, both with pain in their past. Greysen is a psychiatrist and Caden a trauma surgeon both active in the military. This book follows their journey through their relationship as they try and mend their psychological issues.

Although this was quite a long book and slow in places, I did enjoy reading it. I was very different to other psychological thrillers as the problems lay within the characters not outside of them and I enjoyed the way in which themes unfolded throughout the book.

Would definitely read more from this author.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my advance copy!

First of all, the book is very long - over 500 pages. It was just really weird to me and I would not describe it as a domestic/psychological thriller. Way too much sex for my liking and it did nothing for the story.

Overall, this book just wasn’t for me. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC and opportunity to read/review this book.

This is a very long book and it took for a good while to get into it and fully “get” the characters. It’s intense and highlights just how we all compartmentalise different memories and parts of our lives to make something like “living” possible. It shows how the most “perfect” people are actually imperfect and we all deal with issues on an ongoing basis. This book is very heavily based on the military and touches on some dark topics

Dark psychological suspense…

This is the story of Major Greysen Frazier, a psychiatrist, career military, a woman who enlisted at the age of eighteen and Captain Caden St. John, a surgeon who enlisted after the events of 9/11. They met while deployed in Fallujah, Iraq when Greyson was sent in to monitor the health and well-being of the surgeons. These two connected and soon married but Greyson had no inkling what the amphetamine she was giving the doctors to keep them up and running for days would do to them. It was only when the couple had left the service that it became clear that something was terribly wrong.

The psyche is more fragile than people think, it hides things we cannot handle from our consciousness as a protective device. You think you know yourself but do you know what you are hiding from yourself? What happens when you are forced to face the monsters of the id before you are ready for them?

This was a powerful story, dark psychological suspense, a marriage of soulmates that deconstructs when an unknown drug introduced into the system of one causes them to change, become a dark version of themselves, the unsuspecting subject of a secret military government experiment. The benefits of the drug were great but no one told them of the side effect that would dramatically alter their lives. These characters were compelling, you become invested in their outcome amid all the twists that arose, that their love was strong and enduring could not be denied. The plot was captivatingly imaginative.

This was a hell of a read and filled with deviant sexual behavior that was distasteful, this book seriously should come with warnings. Besides including issues deriving from child abuse, there is post-traumatic stress disorder, dissociative personality disorder, violent sex (sadism, masochism, erotic asphyxiation, anal sex, and spanking with a leather belt). There is a lot of sex in this book as it’s a trigger mechanism but there was too much of it, the story is quite long and could have been edited down. This book was previously released in serial format.

An advanced reading copy was obtained from the publisher via NetGalley.

I would describe Girl on the Edge as Erotic (Medical/psychological) Thriller. The first 30% of the book I was dedicated and intrigued with the story and characters. I was expecting a lot of things to happen, seeing how long the book was (839 pages). However, it just fell flat and repetitive after a while. It seemed like (rough) sex was the answer to everything. I just got bored with it and started skipping those scenes completely. In my opinion they didn't add anything to the story. I was expecting the married couple (Caden and Greysen) to go through major character development, but they come across as one-dimensional and I didn't see a lot change. I was not invested in their relationship, because I disconnected from them after the first quarter of the book. The length of this book didn't do it any favors in my opinion, I think I could've enjoyed this book more if it was much shorter. Also the heavy focus on the military was not my thing at all. That was another factor why I didn't enjoy this book as much as I would've liked. I usually love thrillers but this one just didn't work for me.

4.5 Stars!!!

I really enjoy CD Reiss’s novels, so I was excited to dive into Girl on the Edge! CD Reiss stepped out of the box with this book and it totally worked! While still a romance, this novel delves into so much more with a ton of emotion, grit, and courage! Although this book isn’t a quick read, I never wanted to put it down! The storyline was multi-layered and the twists and turns were well timed— love that! I can’t wait to see where CD Reiss takes us in the future!

This is Shades of Grey on PTSD and deployment. A lot of sex as orgasm is central to the plot and too long as it is an intended series put together in one book. Caden and Greyson are a strong couple and it is easy to root for their recovery. The military setting enhanced the story but it tended to drag on towards the end.

An unusual thriller/ suspense subject, psychosis, multiple personalities and sex !
I found the characters very complex but well drawn. The plot turns when you least expect it and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
My job means I come into contact with people with severe mental health issues and how they behave can be very challenging. In the story the author deals well with a controversial very current subject.

Amazing!!! Grey and Caden took me on an incredible journey of mystery, suspense, action and paranoia. I could not and did not want to stop reading. I was drawn into their world so quickly and so easily!! The best psychological thriller of 2018.

I'm 20% into this and I really don't see how this is is a psychological thriller. The premise is that there are two sides to every man. It's clear the main character has some kind of split personality and his wife goes along with his Sado masochist side even though she knows it's wrong. I'm not given too much of their internal world to fall in love with either of them so I find myself not interested in where this book is going. Sex scene after sex scene filled with violence is not somethign I want to read at the moment and again, what makes this a thriller? I'd say it's more a contemporary drama.

I was dying to read this book! I love thrillers but there was just way too much sex. It took away from the story. If the sex was cut back a bit this would have been a 5 star for me. I found myself skimming alot.

I've never been this hooked on a book before! Girl On The Edge is fascinating, bold and brilliant! It is a blow me away thriller! Twisted and sexy, this story snagged me from the very first word and never let me go. A happy couple, two veterans back from duty have a beautiful home, great jobs but something is not right, something is very wrong. This crazy ride is guaranteed to leave you breathless, and looking for more. My thanks to Netgalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Wow, was this one intense! Caden and Greyson are newlyweds, both veterans suffering from PTSD as well as childhood trauma. When Caden suddenly feels he is being "watched" and inhabited by a stranger, his desire to hurt Greyson during sex is overwhelming. Fortunately, Greyson enjoys it and so it continues as Caden leaves bruises and is only able to stop short of really damaging his wife. While I am not a prude, there was SO much sex that I actually got tired of hearing about every orgasm they experienced and it took away from the plot. That being said, the plot is incredibly interesting and the ending is amazing. So fans of Reiss will surely love this novel and I will attempt the others as the writing is strong and believable.
