should have realised this was a cheating trope book, but i tried my best to get past that. The ending though... it ruined the rest of the book for me, I felt, and I know I wasn't alone in that feeling sadly.

I loved this book. It made me laugh and cry and I loved all the song mentions which explained how the characters were feeling without having to explain them.

The book actually hit home for me, so many people marry and are with the wrong partners and have a lifetime of just plodding along and getting by because they don't want to upset anyone, or are too scared to make a change because they are seen to not be doing the right thing. They live their lives with a lot of 'what if' moments rather than being truly happy. People waste so many years of their lives doing this. But a lot of this book is due to fate, or you could say coincidence, but hopefully people will end up with the person that they are meant to be with. You could say that the characters got their comeuppance in the end, but that would be too cruel.. Cheating is always the wrong thing to do, but sometimes the feelings are just too strong. Yes they should have done the right thing years ago, but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Just don't read the ending in public! I had to stop reading on the train, save it for when you are in private!

Oh my god what a book. I can’t believe I left this on my shelf unread for this long. However I did not like the ending how could you do that to me was so damn sad I almost cried and I never almost cry at books. I loved the characters and the fact they met on the same day every day was so romantic.

The cheating trope has to be one of my least favourite in the romance genre so I really should've done my research pre reading this however I had come to enjoy the relationship between Jamie and Stephanie and was absolutely not ready for that gut punch of an ending. I will now be going to hide with snacks and my feelings.

An epic love story, I adored it... but be warned you'll need tissues - it will break your heart!

It takes you on an emotional rollercoaster that is wrong but so right. I was captivated from the start, I couldn't put it down, I simply had to know how it ended.

This was such a sweet story. Very well written and funny in places, the story unfolded so easily between the two central characters. They were created and drawn very precisely, and that made it easy to understand and love them. Loved it!

I loved One Day by David Nicholls and this story sounded similar so I picked it up and it did not disapoint. The Day We Met by Roxie Cooper is an epic tale of two people whose story spans a decade. It starts with their meeting and follows the years after with the characters moving in and out of each others lives. It was a real page turner and I couldn't put it down. Highly recommend for a fun read.

I’ve shamefully had this book on my NetGalley shelf for over a year and I’m kicking myself for not picking it up sooner because I completely and utterly adored this book! It follows Stephanie and Jamie who meet on an art course and feel such a strong connection to each other. They swap numbers and hope to see each other in a year’s time at the next art retreat. We then follow them in alternating chapters as they navigate their lives and they see each other once a year. They know they have strong feelings but they’re married to other people and don’t know what they should do. I know infidelity is a tricky subject to cover but I couldn’t help but root for Stephanie and Jamie. The way they expressed feelings through sharing meaningful songs was so beautiful. I don’t want to say too much more about this book as I’m wary of spoilers so I’ll just say that I loved this novel and I highly recommend it.

This book is told, in alternating chapters, from Stephanie and Jamie’s view points. So interesting that we got to see into the minds and the feelings of these two people. It covers relationships, family. affairs as well as tragedy

Heartbreaking and emotional but a good read.

This book was well-written and had a great original story. I'd definitely recommend it but beware there are likely to be to be tears!

The day we met is one of those books that is perfect for reading by the pool or on the beach on your summer holidays. Deals with the idea of soulmates and that everyone has a soulmate out there.

In some ways this is the kind of book I hate. It depicts the obsession society has with staying with someone just because you're with them, denying yourself obvious happiness elsewhere.

At the same time, it's beautifully written and utter escapism, which got me to see past that and just enjoy a darned good story.

I adored this book.

I thought I was going to struggle with it due to personal thoughts and feelings around fidelity but due to the characters being so likeable, I just couldn't put this book down.

I struggled to get into The day we met. I gave up after reading a few chapters as I was bored. Just wasn’t for me.

When Stephanie and Jamie meet at an art retreat, there’s an instant connection. There’s one problem though - the both of them are in committed relationships. The pair decide to meet up once a year to continue their friendship/romance but how long can their relationship last without destroying everything else they care about?

Where do I start with this one? The good bits first of course! The writing in this book is really good, Roxie Cooper definitely has the ability to plot a really good story and pace it well. I definitely appreciated the writing skill.

Another good thing in this book is that one of the main characters Stephanie goes to therapy for a long time in this book to help with her mental health and continue a normal life and this was always seen as a good, healthy thing to do which I appreciate. Good mental health awareness/care!

Now, I am surprised I haven’t seen more people be turned off from this book considering its main plot is infidelity. I’ve seen lots of people hate books because of cheating and I have never had major problems with it before but this one for some reason rubbed me up the wrong way.

Stephanie and Jamie are both great characters in their own right, and they are also great together. I just really hated they continued emotionally, and sometimes, physically cheating on their partners. For years. Even after children came into the equation. I think there’s a point in such relationships where a selfishness takes control and this definitely happened here. The characters (particularly Jamie) were just cowardly and did not act in the right way. I also think the author made it a bit too easy by having the other halves act a bit difficult (or just a downright ass in Matt’s case) but in real life that’s not always the case. I just can’t help but think how smashed my heart would be if someone I was married to had such a relationship for years and wasted my life in a marriage I thought was for life.

I also do think some of the technology in this book could have been a bit off? There was a point when Stephanie and Jamie were texting each other YouTube videos to watch and I really felt like those years may have been before the time of YouTube links been text to people and being watched on phones.

Also MASSIVE cliche ending that I actually couldn’t believe (even though it did still make me cry a bit, have to be honest. I was mad and sad at the same time). I saw what was coming, I really hoped it wouldn’t happen because COME ON. But nope, it happened.

One for fans of One Day by David Nicholls.

A decent contemporary story. A good relationship plot with good character dynamics but not quite enough growth/development. Would recommend.

I am in charge of our Senior School library and am looking for a diverse array of new books to furnish their shelves with and inspire our young people to read a wider and more diverse range of books as they move through the senior school. It is hard sometimes to find books that will grab the attention of young people as their time is short and we are competing against technology and online entertainments.
This was a thought-provoking and well-written read that will appeal to young readers across the board. It had a really strong voice and a compelling narrative that I think would capture their attention and draw them in. It kept me engrossed and I think that it's so important that the books that we purchase for both our young people and our staff are appealing to as broad a range of readers as possible - as well as providing them with something a little 'different' that they might not have come across in school libraries before.
This was a really enjoyable read and I will definitely be purchasing a copy for school so that our young people can enjoy it for themselves. A satisfying and well-crafted read that I keep thinking about long after closing its final page - and that definitely makes it a must-buy for me!

Wow. For once everything I read about this book was right - it was such an amazing and well written story. The love story was gentle and drew you in not quite knowing where it was going to go. The ending was certainly not what I expected but I don't want to spoil it for anyone. Made me cry on more than one occasion. Well worth a read and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

I had a cry, but it felt a bit repetitive, and ultimately not so much romance as forced love. Not so much joy as misery.
