A. MERCIFUL. FATE. Kendra Elliot.
Ollie a simple man liking the openness of the forest with his dog Shep. Throwing a stick, until he comes back instead with a bone. A dilapidated cabin, held the remains of a person, under the sleeping bag, were bags from a bank. If that was the case, it would go to the FBI. For Agent Mercy it sounded fascinating, a thirty year armored car robbery. Now to go over the meticulous notes that Art had done on the case. Retired, but coming in to help. The void is the fifth robber, and that there was no contact afterwards.
They found a weak link of someone on the inside to use, and no one suspected, even thirty years later. Skelton’s and secrets come out from Eagles Nest about the people who lived there, that were involved. Thankfully the Chief of Police Truman Daly arrived in time, so that more didn’t die. Mercy is a survivalist, with the love of Truman she is not as anxious about being prepared. Her sister had her baby, and then there will be a couple of weddings coming up. Engaging plot, that kept unfolding and the pieces finally came together at the end. Given ARC by Net Galley and Montlake for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.

Merciful Fate continues this great series and is yet again another winner, honestly this series just gets better and better. FBI agent Mercy Kirkpatrick and her fiancé police chief Truman Daly have their work cut out for them when Ollie and his dog come across human remains surrounded by empty bank bags. This links back to a serious $2million bank robbery thirty years previously, only one of the robbers was caught and he remains in prison.
As the case unfolds many skeletons come out of the closet effecting some of the well known citizens of Eagles Nest, not only are they at risk but also Mercy and her niece Kaylie.
Mercy and Truman’s wonderful relationship is stronger than ever and it’s great to see how Mercy has blossomed with his love.
The twists and turns and unexpected revelations make for a well paced page turning story. I hope this series carries on and on it’s so good.
My thanks to net galley and publisher Montlake for the opportunity to review this thrilling read.

Merciful Fate is as action packed as they come and artfully done. FBI Special Agent Mercy Kilpatrick and her fiancé Eagle’s Nest Police Chief Truman Daly along with their charges Ollie and Kaylie are fully involved in this latest mystery after Ollie and his faithful dog Shep find human bones and some empty bank bags out in an abandoned cabin. D.B. Cooper? Probably not.. but possibly close. You will certainly enjoy the telling of this story. You will walk away wanting the next book. (I recommend starting at the beginning of the Merciful series and reading them all. You will be better for it).

This is such a wonderfully written book! Mercy has grown so much as a person through each book. There is a lot of tragedy and murder in this book, a lot of it hit close to home for Mercy. The author weaves such an intricate and intriguing tale. I received an advance review copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

FBI Agent Mercy Kilpatrick is back in the latest installment by Kendra Elliot. While hiking in a remote area of the woods outside tiny Eagle's Nest, Ollie and his dog Shep have stumbled across a set of human remains on top of empty bank bags in a ramshackle cabin. The case is quickly turned over to the FBI when it is determined that the remains may be connected to the Gamble-Helmet Heist, a notorious 30 year old armored car robbery. As Mercy digs in to the case, she finds roadblocks and danger at unexpected turns.

Meanwhile, Truman is working a case where two popular residents of Eagle's Nest have had their properties vandalized and a tabloid reporter has turned up in town, sniffing around both the bank heist story and the vandalism victims. Is it possible the town of Eagle's Nest has been the hideout for a gang of bank robbers for the last 30 years?

I've read the entire Mercy Kilpatrick series and each book has been better than the last. Mercy's evolution as a character has been fun to read and she's a strong, smart, independent woman. A Merciful Fate is a fantastic 5th installment in the Mercy Kilpatrick series, but also could easily be read as a standalone novel. Fans of Kendra Elliot will enjoy the readable, fast paced storyline and the unexpected plot twists. Highly recommended for fans of mystery/police procedurals or strong female protagonists.

Kendra Elliot is a must-read author! I eagerly anticipate each of her new books and novellas. The Mercy Kilpatrick series is a favorite since book one, and this one continues the excellence. I am particularly picky about characters that are strong, determined, but believable, and Elliot delivers, each and every time.

When skeletal remains are found in the woods, FBI Agent Mercy Kilpatrick finds herself and her fiance, Police Chief Truman Daly, embroiled in a decades old mystery. Who was the mystery driver of the getaway car that escaped with millions of dollars in armored car money? Why did one of the robbers wind up dead in an abandoned cabin in the woods near Eagle's Nest? And will someone kill to protect a decades old deception? Fast paced and entertaining. I couldn't put it down!

It’s hard to believe while we are on book 5, only a year has gone by in Mercy’s world.
“A Merciful Fate” has Mercy Fitzpatrick investigating a 30 year old notorious armoured car robbery cold case. When skeletal remains and paraphernalia from the robbery are found near Eagle’s Nest, Mercy and her fiancé Police Chief Truman Daly begin to wonder if their small town and the people in it have a part to play in the infamous cold case.
I’ve read all the books in this series and I think they go from strength to strength.
And while I had figured out the ‘baddies’ by the middle of the book (for once!) it still didn’t make this book any less enjoyable. If you’re looking for a fast paced, romantic suspense novel featuring a great group of characters, you’ll love ‘A Merciful Fate’.

Suspenseful, edge of your seat moments, with great characters and a bit of a twisting plot.

I do highly recommend reading the earlier books before jumping into this one. You could probably do ok, but if you really want to know the characters and some of the references, start from the beginning :)

Thank you to #NetGalley for this ARC of #AmercifulFate

Kendra Elliot offers a fantastic new novel in her popular Mercy Kilpatrick series. This is the fifth book in the series and a welcome addition. The series is linear and each book, including this one, can be read as a stand-alone. While Elliot’s writing has become somewhat more subdued in comparison to her earlier works, this novel offers that edgier feel that will leave her veteran fans satisfied. Elliot’s characters easily support the complex storyline that she creates and leaves readers wanting more. Great read. 5 stars.

I have a lot of feelings about this book. I enjoyed the mystery part very much and I love Mercy and Truman. The mystery is well paced and keeps the reader engaged and Mercy has gone from difficult to connect with to a fuller, richer character who I enjoy reading. And Truman is the hero every girl wants — solid and steady. I am a little weary of some character always being in peril and tend to roll my eyes at all the bad things that have happened to the main character and their inner circle, but I do love this series for the mysteries and how well the characters have grown and changed. This is one of the best in the series.

Another enjoyable story with Mercy and family. I like how the characters evolve personally, and in their relationships all while another mystery unfolds. I recommend this series!

A Merciful Fate.

I really love Kendra Elliott’s books although I have to confess this is my first Mercy Kilpatrick book. It read fine as a standalone although I’ll be adding the rest of the series to my TBR pile!

A Merciful Fate has everything you come to love about an Elliott book, suspense, twists and tension, this is a true page turner and I couldn’t put it down! Five stars!

There are very good reasons why each of these books are eagerly awaited by Kendra Elliot fans. The first four in the series were exciting and thrilling but didn't shy away from the loving relationships which grew throughout them. The lives, histories, and needs of the main protagonists have always been explored as much as the crimes they aim to solve and the reasons for them. Thankfully book five is no different.

After her fiance Police Chief Truman Daly was kidnapped in the previous story FBI Agent Mercy Kilpatrick has begun to realise how much her life has changed for the better because of him. As she embraces these changes and looks towards a positive future a huge case lands on her desk, fuelling her excitement even more.

All of the main characters from the previous books are here but for some of them their stories are explored far more fully as clues from an armed heist three decades old re-emerge with a vengeance. The story is fast moving with hints and red herrings abounding. As always the writing is tightly atmospheric and riveting. I worked one part out but discovered the rest with Mercy and Truman.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this novel thanks to Netgalley in exchange for an unbiased review and recommend it highly for anyone who has read the previous four or likes a really good crime novel. There are at least two threads which will, I think continue into what I have a feeling will regrettably be the final outing for this series. I am already excited for that but a little sad too.

I have been reading Kendra Elliot for a while now and have found her books to be well-written with engaging characters and unique story lines. This series is especially good with Mercy and Truman as the main characters. I heartily recommend this author. I received an e-book from NetGalley in return for an unbiased review.

Mercy Kilpatrick and Truman Daly are back and better than ever in book 5 of the Mercy Kilpatrick stories, A MERCIFAL FATE.

30 years ago there was a big bank robbery. One man was arrested and tried and is serving his days out in prison. 4 men got away. When the carcass of one of those men is found in a remote cabin in Oregon, Mercy’s FBI team is called to investigate. There’s 2 million dollars still missing and the government wants it back.

Through a series of “anonymous” tips, and a couple of unexpected murders, Mercy and Truman push through the quagmire of decades-old investigative mistakes and deadends. A reporter is killed and the Mercy’s niece is shot, and then her sister Rose goes into premature labor. Add to the emotional strain of all this, Truman and Mercy should be planning their wedding, not solving murders or looking for money.

I’ve loved all the Kilpatrick books, and this one is the best so far. Fast paced, with great characters and dialogue, this book should be on your to-read list.
Thanks to Netgalley and Montlake for an advanced copy for an honest opinion.

This is book 5 of this series. I am really enjoying this series and want the next one now, lol. This book has it all, characters that you really like especially Ollie, and a good mystery with lots of twists and turns,

A Merciful Fate is book five in the series. A dead body surrounded by empty money bags is discovered by Ollie. So begins an investigation by Mercy and Truman into a thirty year old armoured car robbery.
Then some acts of vandalism start happening. That along with a very inquisitive reporter make Mercy and Truman realise the acts of vandalism and the robbery may be connected......but how and why???
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this arc. Brilliant as always by one of my favourite authors. A huge five stars!

Wow! This book had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Ollie is learning that there are rules, but some rules need to be broken. Mercy and Truman are trying to figure out what happened to the participants in a thirty year old robbery. Vandalism has hit their small town on top of everything else, and they aren't sure if it's connected to the robbery.
Another amazing read by Kendra Elliot.. Intrigue, mystery, nailbiting excitement. Well worth 5 stars.

An absorbing mystery about a 30 year old armored-car robbery. Mercy and her FBI team get the first big break about the age old mystery when a body is discovered turns out to be one of the robbers.

As Mercy and the FBI are trying to uncover more about the heist, Truman and the Eagle's Nest police department are trying to figure out who is vandalizing two prominent women in the town's businesses. Are these two things completely unrelated or is there a thread tying them together.

An enthralling read from start to finish in an engaging series.
