A MERCIFUL FATE is the latest entry in the well written and engaging “Mercy Kilpatrick” series by Kendra Elliot. Mercy is a prepper and an FBI agent. I never expected this series to stay this good for this long (this is book 5); but the author continues to surprise me with good cases to investigate, as well as unveiling Mercy’s character layer by layer. Mercy and Truman, as well as the other characters in Eagles Nest are (mostly) easy to like and follow. That, along with an interesting, creative storyline and surroundings made the characters actions feel real and true to the plot line.
A MERCIFUL FATE is a good entry in an RS series that continues to shine.
A skeleton along with empty bank bags is found in an abandoned remote cabin in the woods. The skeleton is identified as a member of the crew from the Gamble-Helman armored truck robbery. The case has remained unsolved for close to 30 years. One of the members of the crew was apprehended and is in prison. A tabloid reporter shows up in town with information about the current investigation and starts asking questions. Two local women are victims of vandalism. Are any of these events connected?
This is a great addition to the Mercy Kilpatrick series. I love the characters in this series. This book is filled with suspense and lots of twists. There was one at the end that snuck up on me. This is a great series, each book could be read as a stand alone, but start with the first, you won’t regret it. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
