Grisly crime scenes, 2 odd but compelling detectives, one feisty girl who managed to survive, and the killer they need to catch.
Although I found the plot intense and the first half very fast pace. But the second half lagged just a bit and one of the detectives really got on my nerves (but I did love the two together). The break in of the bad guy POV jostled me out of the story a bit and I found it distracting at times instead of helping the plot along. A good start to a series - worth a nice read if you like police procedurals.
A huge thank you to the author and publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.
A great start to a new series. Loved watching the relationship between maddie and Harry develop, interspersed with a gripping storyline
He is Watching You was a bit of a slow start for me but it did pick up and keep my interest.
The relationships between some co-workers were so great and really made the story in my opinion.
Can’t wait to read what’s next.
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC of He Is Watching You by Charlie Gallagher.
Oooof, this is a dark one, buckle up and reinforce your stomach lining babes, you'll need it.
Maddie Ives has been tasked to find a missing woman who struggled with drink and stability. It seems like her missing woman may stay missing forever, but Maddie has a feeling in her gut that this may be more than a transient runaway.
Harry Blaker, another cop, has been called to the scene of a man who was run over by a car and left to die. It seems cut and dry, but maybe a bit too random?
Ives and Blaker team up to link the two strange and seemingly unsolvable crime to find out why people in their town keep getting hurt, or worse.
Like I said, this one is grizzly, and intricate. I really enjoyed the first half, it had me intrigued, it had me horrified, I was in. But it started losing me toward to end. A bit to slumpy and draggy compared to the beginning. Still worth the read.
The first of a series following kick ass detective “Maddie Ives”
A fast moving story that will have you turning the pages into the small hours desperately needing to know what happens next!
This is the first book in a new series, and once again the author doesn't disappoint. The book was well-written, gripping from beginning to end. Recommended.
Gritty police procedural, engaged me enough to want to read other books by this author. I would recommend this book.
This is the first book in the series. Although this was an easy read I really enjoyed it and cannot wait to read more .

When the killer is watching your every move and watching you take your last breathe you hope and pray that someone out there will find you and set you free
Good start to a new series
Another cracking read from Charlie Gallagher. Tense, gripping and action packed. I quite liked the character of Maddie and would definitely be interested in reading more of her.

He Is Watching You is a must read for the year. I have found a new favorite author. I could not put down this book. Great writing and characters.
"He Is Watching You" eBook was published in 2018 and was written by Charlie Gallagher (https://www.writercharliegallagher.com/). Mr. Gallagher has published ten novels. This is the first in his "Detective Maddie Ives" series.
I categorize this novel as ‘R’ because it contains scenes of Violence. The story is set in contemporary England. The primary character is DS Maddie Ives.
Ives has spent most of her police career as an undercover officer. Now that her identity has possibly been revealed, she has been posted to Canterbury to keep her safe from retribution. She is assigned to missing persons and reluctantly begins to dig into her new position. Her first case is for a missing woman who is known to disappear on drunken binges.
DI Harry Blaker is working Major Crimes in Canterbury and is called in on a hit-and-run. He and Ives begin to collaborate believing that there may be a connection between missing persons and the hit-and-run.
The murderer has planted cameras so that he can watch the bodies of his victims. He is surprised to discover that one isn't dead yet. He must finish her. He already has his next victim selected. Soon Blaker and Ives find themselves in a race to find the murderer before it is too late for his latest victim.
I thoroughly enjoyed the 9.5 hours I spent reading this 380-page mystery. I like the characters and plot of this novel. I look forward to reading more in this series. The cover art is OK but could be tied more to the plot. I give this novel a 4.5 (rounded up to a 5) out of 5.

Thankyou to NetGalley, Joffe Books and the author, Charlie Gallagher, for the opportunity to read a digital copy of He Is Watching You in exchange for an honest and unbiased opinion.
I thought this book provided a good, quick, chilling read. I was hooked from the start and enjoyed the rollercoaster ride of a storyline. Would definitely be reading more from this author.
Worth a read.
Wow! An exciting new crime series featuring Detective Maddie Ives! I use the word exciting because I AM EXCITED to have discovered this author, Charlie Gallagher!
Character developments- Mr. Gallagher introduces us to detectives Maddie and Harry, and he superbly develops their character. They are fully fleshed out, to be dynamic , well developed , round characters. I can see them in my mind’s eye;- so real they seem! Theiir dialogue and actions are true and authentic to their character. Both are likeable and play off one another with clever banter. I can’t wait to visit with them in future installments!
Plot - Fast paced and intriguing! I was never bored because there was plenty of action and suspense as the mystery is unraveled.
Climax- Riveting!
Denouement- Satisfying....very much so! All threads tied together and explained!
Summary - I CAN’T WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK!
What a great book! I was very excited to get a chance to read this book. I was so impressed with this author and this book. I loved every minute of it! I will look for more books from this author! *This book was given to me for free at my request from Netgalley and I provided this voluntary review.*
I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
OMG SO FREAKING GOOD!
He Is Watching You was such a good thriller. It kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. This book has three point of views, no I wont tell you their names but it's the detective, killer, and victim. The flow from each pov just kept me engaged. I honestly couldn't put this book down and I kind of yelled at my phone sometimes. Like no, don't talk to strangers buddy. If he's acting strange just leave because you will probably end up dead.
The detective was an okay kind of character in my opinion. I don't really understand how they go from learning the basics of a computer to getting on this case. Seemed a bit weird but eventually I got invested. The there's the killer, and boy did they deliver. This character is so smart, or maybe they are only trying to act like it.. but I had no idea they put a camera above the container. Maybe I scanned over it without paying attention.. but this character definitely kept me on my toes.
It also probably doesn't hurt that my guessing game sucks ass. Overall, I loved this book so much that I already can't wait to dive back into. The creepiness of this whole thing took me to a new level. I will probably end up having nightmares about what this killer did but damn, did I enjoy it.
I loved the storyline and I cared about the characters. I will be reading more by this author and highly recommend this book.
