Great ,quick read. Having read the blurb about hen party on a murder mystery weekend, I knew this would be right up my boulevard and I wasn't disappointed.
A hen party takes a very sinister turn when their murder mystery party becomes very real, with stories out witches and urban legends, Clarisse's hen weekend becomes like something out of an ITV1 drama. Looks like her chief bridesmaid ,Tamsyn had a lucky escape having to pull out at the last minute...or did she???
This was a great read, just off to Google Jersey witches...
Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to review this book, this is my honest opinion
What a book! I had no idea what to expect and had no idea how to guess at the outcomes either.
I read this on holiday in about 2 hours, I just couldn't put it down and found the pages were turning really fast.
I was utterly hooked on this story, that starts off as a group going on a hen weekend, and once they arrive at their destination, events become creepier and creepier.
Interspersed with the present day story we get to know about a specific set of occurrences from that past, that become very relevant.
I can't really say much about the plot, I went into this blindly and I think that may be the best way.
This is the first book I have read by this author and based on this evidence it certainly won't be my last either.
Fast paced, the whole book takes place over one day, there were many times where I paused, looked up and mouthed WTF... as I couldn't believe what I was reading, while hurriedly going back to see just what did happen next.
Unputdownable, gripping, addictive reading, this is one fantastic book.
Thank you to Corvus and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

As tensions quickly boil over, it becomes clear to them all that there are some secrets that won't stay buried...
the story is told by Nada a close friend of the bride, when i first started reading The Bridal Party reminded me of the Ruth Ware book "In A Dark Dark Wood" as the story is very similar i did like the story a lot at times it was a bit tense and dark. it is creepy at times my only problem with the story is the ending i found it boring i got to the end and i thought is that it is that the end, i was waiting for one last twist to come but i did not the book would of been perfect if the ending was much better .... thank you to Netgalley and the Publishers fo
It’s Clarisse’s hen weekend, an opportunity to let her hair down with her closest friends. However from the moment the party arrive at a secluded house in Jersey something isn’t quite right. This is going to be a hen do like no other, the hens have their own secrets that they won’t be able to keep forever.
I was granted access to this book through Netgalley. My own hen party is only a couple of months away so this book really appealed to me. Unfortunately I found the synopsis to be the best part of the book and really struggled to keep myself interested within the storyline. I just couldn’t connect with any of the characters, that said however, I think that was probably an intentional factor from the author. I will however say that the ending did take me by surprise and the ending alone gained this book an extra star. If you’re looking for a quick paced, easy read then this book may be for you. As I said the ending is definitely worth the wait in my opinion.
There's not too much for me to say about this, I didn't like it, the first few chapters were ok and then it just went 'meh' and never picked up again.
The main character we follow, Nada, is not a strong enough person to keep it together, she was weak, unsure of herself, subservient to the others and kind of a doormat, I was hoping she'd get stronger as we got further in but despite a couple of moments that gave me that hope she just fell flat again.
The premise is interesting and the and I absolutely loved the setting but the characters didn't pull me in and have me gripped. I skim read most of it and only kept going to see how it ended and then got frustrated because the characters hadn't changed at all, there didn't seem to be any growth.
If you liked this book then brilliant, if you didn't I understand. I will pick up the authors next book because I know that not all books are going to gel with everyone.
*Huge thanks to J.G. Murray, Atlantic Books, Corvus and NetGalley for this copy which I chose to read and all opinions are my own*
Enjoyed this book but wasn’t too keen on the flash backs. All in all a good read & would recommend this book
Well this is definitely a hen party from hell! Great little mystery and I loved the parts about witches and cults, very enjoyable.
The Bridal Party is a gripping, intense story of friendships, secrets, betrayals, lies and revenge.
The story centres around a group of friends,Clarisse,Nada,Afreya,Gaia and Elana who have flown out to Jersey for the weekend for Clarisse's bridal party. The weekend had taken a mysterious turn even before they had left the airport when they received a WattsApp message from Tamsyn, the maid of honour informing them that she unfortunately couldn't make it to the party. Confused and upset they decided to make the most of the stunning, isolated seaside house that Tamsyn had arranged for them to stay in. Upon arriving at the house they were surprised to discover that Tamsyn had organised a murder mystery,a game that became more and more intense and sinister as the day progressed. The object of the game was to expose the killer in their midst. As tensions and tempers boiled over,it become clear there are some secrets that won't stay buried.
We follow events in the present day and also in flashbacks to the past as they are told from Nora's point of view. To be honest,I didn't think Nora was a very likeable character, I found her behaviour was often frustrating and struggled to understand her obsession with Clarisse's happiness, Her obsession maybe made sense later in the book but not in the earlier flashback chapters. My favourite character was feisty Gaia, yeah she had a bad attitude at times but she wasn't afraid to speak her mind and fight back whenever she saw an opportunity. The group of friends were a mixed bag of realistic personalities, the sort of group that you might expect to find in a pub or club, getting drunk and having a laugh. I loved the isolated setting, the big house surrounded by a deep forest. Hinting that the house and the area around it had a dark, sinister history added to the creepy atmosphere of the story. I always think that forests can seem sinister and otherworldly even in broad daylight never mind in the dead of night when you can hardly see and all you can hear is your own footsteps that sound so.loud no matter how carefully you tread or maybe it's not your footsteps, maybe it's the footsteps of whoever is pursuing you.
The Bridal Party is a chilling, sinister, intense thriller that had me on the edge of my seat from the first page right through to the unexpected ending that had just a dash of poetic justice. I would love to watch a film adaptation of this book. This is a well written debut psychological thriller and I look forward to reading more books written by this author in the future.
Sounds good, really isn't. Crashingly predictable, bland characterisation and a plot which verges on hilariously hokey :(

THE BRIDAL PARTY was for me an excellent between books to read. You know, when you need something lighter and fast read? I've been reading pretty heavy stories and this one felt so good to read. I breezed through the story during a couple of hours.
Now, first I want to say that the flashbacks didn't do much for me. I quickly realized what was going on and those flashbacks were hardly surprising. I did find the beginning of the book best when the gals arrived on Jersey for Clarisse's bridal party and the bride of honor is missing. And they are all confused to a lot of things. Like why have the costumes they have said to bring with them been changed...? As I said before I quickly figure out the plot, so I did skim read a bit to get to the end. It's like a murder mystery episode of any TV-series, the beginning, and the end is the best. As for the ending, I was not surprised, until I was surprised. And I liked it. Yup, excellent twist towards the end of the book. So, would I recommend the book? Yup, this is a perfect I-have-a-coupe-of-hours-to-kill-book and I'm alone in a dark house far, far from civilization ... muahahaha
Fantastic to read!
The story is gripping and full of tense moments. Twists and turns await every page! I really enjoyed reading this a lot and can highly recommend it.
