This third in the sensual Twelve Dukes of Christmas series has St. Nick’s brother, Christopher Pringle, hunting for a wife with whom to share his travels and adventures. If you are reading these in sequence (although not necessary!) Christopher believes that now St. Nick is betrothed to Penelope, it will be easier for him to have his pick of females in the little village of Christmas. Almost immediately, he runs across a sort of tour guide to the stars who is not giving any type of true or accurate information. A public disagreement ensues.
Yet, Christopher cannot seem to stay away from Gloria, who becomes his matchmaker in his goal for a wife. But, the more time they spend together, the closer they become. It does not seem to matter that they appear to be opposites. Christopher begins to realize she is the woman with whom he wants to spend his life and adventures.
There are so many humors aspects to this book. Gloria loves leading Christopher on about improper star information. Not sure which is funnier – the astrology misinformation or the driving lesson. No matter what, you will enjoy Christopher convincing Gloria that she is his HEA. Can’t wait for the next installment of the Twelve Dukes of Christmas book!

I was so looking forward to Christopher meeting Gloria since they both loved the stars and it was not the best first meeting for them! Penelope was inspired to have Gloria be the matchmaker and help Christopher find his bride.
It was so much fun to watch as what Christopher thinks he wants, turns out not to be and he keeps changing the type of bride that he wants. After meeting three eligible women, he still has not found the "perfect" bride to match him.
After Gloria and Christopher start doing things together, they realize that there is an attraction between them but there still is the problem that he wants to travel and have adventures while Gloria is petrified to leave home.
The HEA after is great and I loved that Christopher was willing to take a chance and Gloria was open to try small steps! The epilogue shows how far they had come to make both their dreams come true.
If you’re in the mood for a lighthearted, fun, Regency Christmas romp then you’ll want to check out the 12 Dukes of Christmas series by Erica Ridley this holiday season (or any time of the year). Ms. Ridley always delivers a spunky, sexy, love story and Wish Upon A Duke is further proof of that.
Could there possibly be two people who are more opposite than Gloria and Christopher? One wants the life of adventure and travel, the other also loves experiencing new things, but they travel through their imagination and good books. Each has a very real reason for why they want to keep their life style intact… and both were embroiled in a heated argument the night before they officially met. Sounds like oil and water, right? Just wait, love will find a way.
Wish Upon A Duke is a quick read, but one that will easily draw you into the romantic antics of two people who would be perfect for each other… it they each were willing to take a chance. I had such fun with this story, and I’ve no doubt that if you love a good Regency Romp that you will be caught up in Gloria and Christopher’s romance as well. I would recommend this story or entire series to any reader who loves Historical or Regency Romance, the magic of the Christmas season, laughing out loud and interesting characters who live by their own design not by convention.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
I received a free copy of Wish Upon A Duke in exchange for an honest review. This was a quick and easy read. However, there was nothing spectacular about this story. Christopher and Gloria's story was too predictable, and I really missed the banter found in Erica Ridley's other books. Overall, this was well written, but I'd suggest another read for entertainment.
Another great romance in this series! I loved the interaction between this couple and there are several amusing scenes as their love blossoms. It has its poignant moments when you realize that their deepest desires are so far apart, but it is totally heartwarming when love wins the day. Ms. Ridley gives her characters such interesting personalities that you get invested in the outcome of their story and in this case I'd love to revisit this couple in future books.

Very likable characters, good humor, warmth, and chemistry. Very enjoyable read.
Christopher is looking for a wife. One that would travel and see the world with him. And like the stars. Yet he finds himself surrounded only by ladies looking for a quick romp, after his brother, a famous rake, is not available any more. A friend suggests Gloria as a match maker for him, but upon visiting with her he recognizes her as an ignorant dreamer he met the night before.
Gloria, herself an accomplished astronomer, likes to play out her imagination even if she is aware of underlying science. When Christopher belittles her, she is too proud to set him right.
The uneasy couple sets out to find a wife for Christopher, while reluctantly start to appreciate each other.
This was, like the other "Dukes of Christmas" novellas, an easy and entertaining read. It did not capture me as much as "Kiss of a Duke #2", probably because both characters acted unnatural (e.g. Christopher jumping to conclusions way too fast), and Gloria's phobia for water did not make any sense to me. And Christopher was the one who had to make all the compromising.
Don't let this scare you away, though - well written and well worth the time spend!
I liked this holiday/not holiday themed book (as all year is like Christmas in the town of Cressmouth). This is the third in a series of standalone books, but characters are reoccurring so you will get to know them better if you read them in order. This book has the romance of Christopher and Gloria and how opposites attract and about compromising and moving past fears. There is some nice little bits of humour sprinkled in this tale. This quick read is set in Regency England, but it is a little liberal with its contemporary phrasing and some of its reference, but I find that it just adds a little bit of charm to the story. Overall, an enjoyable read. *I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
Marlowe Castle Cressmouth England
Miss Gloria Godwin leads groups of people on “sky-walk” tours where they learn the names of stars and constellations. This is a popular tour with people who visit the area. Named for Christmas, it is always Christmas here.
Mr. Christopher Pringle, is part of a house party being held at the Castle. He is second in line to a dukedom behind his brother, Nicholas, who has always been a rake and is now engaged to be married. With Nicholas’s wedding announcement, now the ladies have all turned their eyes to Christopher and he is being besieged by eligible young ladies. Christopher, who loves to travel, is looking for a wife. He hopes to find one in just a few weeks so he can marry and set sail on a voyage.
Christopher loves astronomy and when he hears Gloria on her tour calling the different constellations by pet names rather than their proper names, he is outraged.
After a discussion with his brother about finding a wife right away, Nicholas and his fiancé suggest he consult a matchmaker to help him find a bride. When he discovers she is none other than Gloria herself, he is quite put out. However, he realizes he must stick with her to get the job done.
Each time Gloria introduces Christopher to a different woman and sees how well they get along, she thinks he has found the woman he wants to marry. Nope. He has not. But as they spend time together, they share their passion for astronomy and how they look at the stars. Christopher prefers facts and the proper scientific names for them. Gloria, on the other hand, enjoys using her imagination of what they look like to her and gives them pet names. Although they disagree on the names, they do share a love of the stars themselves. Could this love lead to a love between them? They say that anything can happen in Cressmouth if you just wish for it.
A clever, if somewhat silly, little tale. I’m sure that Christmas lovers will enjoy this sweet little story.

Wish Upon a Duke by Erica Ridley. Christopher Pringle is a traveler and is now ready to settle down and wants to take a wife with him. The trip is scheduled to start in a month and is to India. He is currently on holiday and staying at Marlowe Castle in Christmas, England. Gloria Godwin also loves to travel, the only difference is she does hers through books. She first meets Christopher on one of her stargazer tours. They next meet at the reception hall of Marlowe Castle. Christopher is hoping to find his wife but as he meets the women, but they ask about his brother Nick who is a rake instead. They don’t know that Nick has fallen in love and the banns are to be announced the next day. After that the women fall all over him but he can’t stand them propositioning him. He goes to his brother and his future sister-in-law sends him to a matchmaker. The matchmaker is of all people Gloria. I won’t tell anymore as I don’t want to give the story away but I enjoyed it and I think you will too. I received an advance copy for my honest review.
Beautiful story loved reading it. So heartfelt. Erica does it again. Great characters always with a dash of humor.
Gloria loves stars and dreams of travel. Christopher also so loves stars and travels as much as he can. He’s looking for a wife-but what he though he wanted in one ends up being totally different. Really enjoyed this book.
Three and a half stars.
Third novella in a series set in the English village of Cressmouth (Christmas).
Miss Gloria Godwin is a remarkable young woman, astronomer and mechanical engineer, she was traumatised by first her father's death at sea and then her fiance travelling to India and never returning. As a result, she has a pathological fear of water and travel. Despite this fear she loves to read about travel.
The Right Honourable Mr Christopher Pringle, previously the quiet overlooked Pringle brother, is getting a taste of what it feels like to be the most eligible bachelor in the village, he is swamped by eager single women desperate for his hand in marriage. Christopher loves to travel, he makes a point to never stay more than one month in one place, but he would like to share that life with someone so he engages a matchmaker to find him a wife.
Christopher's soon-to-be sister in law recommends Gloria as a matchmaker, and she does indeed find women who exactly meet Christopher's requirements, the only trouble is the infuriating matchmaker appears more and more attractive every day. It's a pity that their interests are so different.
This was a charming Christmas novella, Gloria takes delight in teasing Christopher and indulging her imagination, Christopher helps her overcome her fears.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Erica Ridley’s newest regency romance series features twelve delightful laugh-out-loud romps… and plenty of delicious dukes!
My Thoughts:
If you read book #2 in this new series and thought it excellent then you will be thrilled with book #3.
This somewhat holiday based new series by Erica Ridley has started off with a bang! It is simply irresistible.
I liked the beginning of the series when I read Once Upon a Duke. I fell in love with the Twelve Dukes of Christmas when I read Kiss of a Duke. I stated then that it was one of the most entertaining books I have read this year and it is but Wish Upon a Duke may outshine it.
I am now very much looking forward to the next installment in this series.
I gave this book 5.0 of 5.0 stars for storyline, humor and characterization. This series is so enjoyable and an easy read.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book by invitation to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
This doesn’t feel like a Regency novel but more like a contemporary small town romance which just happens to be set in the past. It has an almost fairy tale quality and I found it delightful.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Christopher Pringle has been in Cressmouth or Christmas with his brother, Nick. His brothe found a wife, now he wants someone for his own. Miss Gloria Godwin has agreed to help him find a wife. She has introduced him to several, but Gloria's charm and beauty always comes back to him. She names the constellations wrong, she doesn't follow recipes. He just can't deal with her, until he realizes he can't deal without her. He needs her and wants her to go on adventures with him. She is afraid to leave her home even though she loves him with all her heart. Will she overcome her fears and will he wait? I loved Christopher from the first and am so happy he wants love. Sweet and naughty scenes in this book. I received this book from Net Galley and the publisher for a honest review. The opinions expressed are my own.
This may simply be proving that I’m nothing more than a squishy mass of gooey marshmallow, but Gloria’s story reduced me to tears – multiple times. Her justly earned fears are utterly heartbreaking. And Christopher’s wanderlust is almost as devastating. Especially when the pair are squared off in opposition to one another. I loved watching these two very different yet so similar people fall in love with each other. It hurt my heart to witness how much both Gloria and Christopher were willing to sacrifice for the other’s happiness. I’ve only just finished this book and I want more Christmas already.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author from NetGalley.
Delightful opposites-attract romance!
At first glance, world-traveler Christopher seems to be exactly the wrong kind of man for Gloria, who is content to never leave her small, picturesque town. When she's called upon to act as matchmaker for him, Gloria finds no shortage of women who meet his stated list of requirements. Christopher thinks he knows what he wants in a bride, so he's beyond confused that his heart keeps directing him towards the one woman who meets none of his criteria.
I loved this delicious little love story right from the start. Christopher and Gloria each think they know what they want, but their hearts reveal what they really need. Their conflict was believable and seemingly insurmountable, making their journey to their HEA especially poignant and heartfelt. I'm looking forward to reading more in this wonderful series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This series just gets better. This time we are back with Christopher Pringle. The younger brother to Nicolas, the Rake we met in book 2. Christopher wants to marry for love, and will not settle for less. He loves astronomy but cannot stand it when Gloria Godwin is telling misinformation to young impressionable children. He argues with her and then leaves. He goes to talk to his brother, and his betrothed tells him of a match maker whom he can meet with. He agrees, and goes to the matchmakers house where he meets Gloria. Gloria agrees to help him and find him a match much to his astonishment. There is no doubt a match will be formed, just not the person Christopher was expecting.
Erica Ridley is a great author, check out her other books too. I love the Dukes of War Series!
(She writes with adult content.)
I adore this series! It's the perfect holiday fluff to get you into the Christmas spirit! And this one is my favorite yet. I've been looking forward to Gloria and Christopher's story ever since they were introduced, and it was a delight! A lovely wallflower who loves watching the stars because they make her feel closer to her deceased parents, and a rule-following, no-nonsense stickler for propriety? My favorite kind of people!
Gloria and Christopher are both just waiting to be noticed: she because she has secluded herself in a sleepy little village where it is Christmas all year round and refuses to let anyone get to close, and he because he has spent his entire life in the shadow of his rakish brother while all he wants is to find true love. They are both just the nicest people, and I wanted them to get their happily every after since the moment I met them. I loved how both brought out the best in each other, how patient Christopher was and how Gloria slowly teased him out of his stick-in-the-mud attitude. It was wonderful to see them grow closer!
This series really a delight if you are looking for short, sweet, comfy romances that warm your heart!
