I feel like I should pull a Charlotte and do what she did. This novel could be used as a self-help book for sure!

Charlotte has always been good. She focuses on work, rarely goes out. But as you can expect, it gets boring so she decides to try and change it. Thanks to almightly Google, she finds a podcast to spice up her life. There starts the journey of completing weekly challenges - my worst nightmare as I'm a total wuss. Will she find her Mr Right?

This is a rather lighthearted and enjoyable read, if not a little too predictable.

The first book I’ve read by this author. I enjoyed it. It seemed like typical chick-lit but I found it funnier than most I’ve read in that genre in the past. Some of the British/UK terms I found confusing but they were easy enough to figure out the meaning of from context clues. I look forward to checking out other books by Ms. Ranald in the future.

Charlotte loves her job. However, her job involves long hours, dealing with highly-tensed financial traders who throw tedious and arduous tasks her way as their assistant. But when Charlotte's best friend and former roommate, Maddy starts her wedding planning, Charlotte finds balancing her career, non-existent love life and maintaining her bridesmaid's duties quite a challenge. As her world changes dramatically once Maddy and her fiance move out of Charlotte's shared home to start their own home, Charlotte is forced to take a moment to find out what she wants. Well what she wants at the moment is to kick-start her dormant single-life and heeds the advice from the podcast, Sorry Not Sorry that takes her on an adventure of stepping outside of her comfort zone and ask out a guy rather than wait for them to ask her.

Sorry Not Sorry provided me with laughter by Charlotte's antics and uncomfortable situations that she seemed to regularly land in. This chick-lit book was well written with the intertwining humourous adventures and it was never a dull moment in Charlotte's life. If you're in the mood for a lighthearted read, this is a novel that will provide and a much needed break from the intense novels such as the ones I've been reading in my book club. She was very relatable with her insecurities and and held on to her morals (well, mostly).

Sorry Not Sorry is a genuinely feel good book that will brighten up any day and one that I enjoyed reading.


Charlotte shares a house with her two friends, Maddy and Henry, but when they hook up, get engaged and move out to get their own place together, Charlotte realises that she's stuck in a serious rut. With the prospect of two new flatmates on the horizon, she soon reaches the conclusion that she needs more in her life than just work and Netflix. So when she stumbles upon a podcast called 'Sorry Not Sorry' that challenges women to embrace their inner bad girl, she decides to embrace the challenge and potentially spice up her life a bit.


I tend to read quite a lot of psychological and crime thrillers so I always relish diving into a humorous romance and Sorry Not Sorry didn't let me down.


Charlotte was a very relatable character and she could have been me or any one of my friends. Watching her trying to complete the challenges from the podcast was sometimes funny and other times cringe worthy, but I think we've all been there, it's just whether or not we admit to it! I thought that this made her and her interactions with her friends really believable. Her new flatmates Tansy and Adam were interesting and I was intrigued to see how they would be Incorporated into Charlotte's world and there were a few things that I wasn't expecting so that kept me on my toes.


This was my first outing with author Sophie Ranald and I thoroughly enjoyed her writing style which was littered with witty humour and although it didn't have me 'laughing out loud' there were a good few chuckle worthy moments. I'd definitely read more from her.


I would recommend this book for anyone who is looking for something fun and light-hearted to read and it would be the perfect accompaniment for a poolside lounger and a cocktail!

A lighthearted fun book, easy predictable reading but plenty of humour and antics to keep you interested, perfect for the beach.

This book was cute! Was it pretty predictable? Yes! but show me a romance that isn't. I liked the characters a lot. , especially Charlotte. The plotline was pretty believable and I really enjoyed that it delved a lot into the relationships between Charlotte and other women, probably more than the men in her life.

This was a super cute quick read, that would be perfect for reading poolside.

I'm usually a happy-go-lucky book reviewer but this one wasn't my cup of tea. Sorry, not sorry... but I didn't fall in love with this book. Let me clarify that I truly wanted to enjoy it but I personally thought it was just okay and the overall book fell a bit flat for me. I loved the concept of the dating advice podcast but I didn't get hooked in the way I normally do with fun romantic comedies. Mind you, there's some fun bits mixed throughout the story that made it somewhat worth reading but honestly, with the number of fantastic and entertaining books available these days, this one isn't getting my recommendation.

If the cover and description of the book on Goodreads still leaves you curious, there's quite a few reviewers that found the story fun and witty and downright laugh-out-loud funny. Perhaps some of you will connect with the character and find the story relatable and entertaining, however this reviewer isn't one of those gals. And unless there's another novel that follows in a series, I felt as though there were details left unfinished. That's fine for women's fiction but a good romantic comedy doesn't leave you hanging unless there's more to follow.

This was a very enjoyable read for me. While it wasn't as funny as I was expecting it to be based on the summary provided, there were quite a few funny moments. I really liked Charlotte, the main character, as well as her new friends. I did dislike how for a while it seemed like Charlotte just could not win; it seemed to be one thing after another. This could make it more relatable, I guess? I'm not sure since I couldn't relate to her.

Overall I thought this was a fun, quick read. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a fast, lighthearted book.

Honestly, I was semi enjoying this book but it all went downhill. The protagonist had way too many love interests and got feelings for random guys and just dropped them on the next page. I feel like there was no story arc just the author writing herself into a corner multiple times. The cyber issue was super random and not necessary. I’ve read some decent chick lit but unfortunately, this wasn’t one of them.

I enjoyed the concept of this book as I'm a #podcastjunkie but the execution fell a little flat. Charlotte decides to follow a dating podcast's advice to the letter and crazy hijinks ensue. It made the book feel a bit episodic to me.

I did not find the book to be funny as purported by the blurbs for it. Most of the parts about Charlotte’s life are disagreeable: her best friend becomes very remote, her new roommate has stalker troubles, her new man is married, and her boss is an overbearing tyrant.
It is a good book to read but not in the funny, laugh out loud vein.

Ooh boy! I just finished reading this steamy, sweet, roller coaster of a rom com romp and I’m just so happy! This is the type of book that is pure pleasure when reading it for me. It fired on all cylinders—friendship, love, heart break, mystery, career, cats, and margaritas. This rom com was just what I needed this Valentine’s Day!

When good girl Charlotte finds herself living with two new roommates instead of her best friend Maddy, she realizes her life may not be as full as she previously thought. Enter an old podcast she discovered, Sorry Not Sorry, teaching good single girls to live life a little bit bad, and reap the rewards…

Charlotte is such a fun character! I related to her a bit because she’s a bit of a pushover at times, but I think it is because of her big heart. She wants things to be ok, and so maybe at times she hides the truth from herself. But she is also fiercely loyal, hard-working, and filled with love and laughs to share with the world. All she wants in return is love and maybe a few margaritas!

I loved the way this book really encompassed Charlotte’s whole life. It wasn’t just one thing. It covered her dating escapades, new friendships that are still blossoming, old friendships that aren’t what they used to be, getting along with her neighbors, work drama, and finding her way in the world through it all. The multiple stories going on in Charlotte’s life made the plot move incredibly fast. I didn’t find a dull moment in the book!
I loved the idea of learning to be a “bad” girl. As the podcast suggests, maybe being a bad girl just means letting yourself live a little. A girl doesn’t have to do bad things to be a bad girl, she just has to let herself get out of her comfort zone. I found this inspiring—something I should learn to do more of!

With a book that will make you laugh, cry, smile, and cheer along Charlotte—I’m already wanting more from Sophie Ranald!!! Do not miss this one—it is the perfect read for any girl out there, no matter how bad or good!

Charlotte has the job of her dreams but her personal life is a little lacking. Best friend Maddie gets engaged to their housemate Henry and they leave to start planning a wedding. Charlotte is left home alone, working round the clock and no sign of romance whatsoever. So, she starts listening to a podcast called ‘Sorry Not Sorry’ where she is given tasks to complete, which aim to bring out the ‘bad girl’ and find her that perfect man.

I have a vivid imagination (or have just read too many psychological thrillers lately) but I really found myself worrying about Charlotte’s safety. Her first new housemate arrives drunk in the middle of the night and the second one hardly ever leaves his room. Surely the poor girl should have met her new housemates before they moved in? However, the front of the book clearly states ‘The Perfect Laugh-out-Loud Romantic Comedy’ so the new arrival would have to be a very cheerful serial killer!

My OTT worry for Charlotte just shows what a believable and thoroughly likable character she is. There was just the right amount of cringe moments balanced out with some witty one-liners and a good array of background characters.I’m sure anyone going through the dating game will be nodding their head in agreement (and frustration) with some of the relatable moments in this book!

A Bridget Jones- kind of novel. Sorry Not Sorry is the name of the podcast that had a life-altering effect on our girl, Charlotte. In short, a nice, well-written book. My only complaint? Charlotte could have done with a little more spine and spunk. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.

You can tell you have hit the jackpot on the rom-com reading front when you forget to eat lunch because you're so engrossed in a story. What an absolute triumph of a book, I completely loved each and every moment of it and I'm truly sorry it has come to an end.

The writing is engaging and witty with a laugh a minute at the turn of every page. Charlotte was an all round dream of a character and I related to her in an instant. Her Newcastle upbringing with a career history in banking and penchant for Viognier wine struck a familiar chord with me and I loved her even more for it. Her trials and tribulations were outright dramatic and entertaining and I could see us being friends in an alternative lifetime.

Sorry Not Sorry is an outright celebration of life, love and friendship and I loved every moment of my time spent with Charlotte. I sincerely hope that this is not the last we hear from her as I feel she still has plenty more to say for herself in life and certainly in love.

My Thoughts

This book is so refreshing,it just had the right amount of laugh, love and sexyness into it. The story revolves around the love life, work and friendship of our protagonist with the help of a podcast recorded years ago.
The main character, Charlotte is not so over-the-top kind of girl, not so bitchy. In fact, she's actually kinda nice😊 unlike other chic-lit characters I've read before.
The plot of the book is also not over-the-top which worked with the lightness of the characters. At first I thought there would be catfights of some sorts, (too cliche for me) and thank God there wasn't, just some confrontational scenes to spice up Charlotte's life.
The author's writing style is really good for me, the lightness of the story really fits the way she put up every chapter and every episode of the podcast😊
All in all, the book is really light as it was refreshing, the kind of book I want to read after splurging from some dark or thriller novel😊

A fun entertaining story that will make you giggle!

This was a playful story with an unique angle... as a podcast listener(although most of my podcasts are about serial killers) I really enjoyed how this media was used in the story... a quirky story about taking yourself out of your comfort zone and finding your inner bad girl....

Charlotte is a workaholic about to lose her flatmate and friend to marriage... when she realizes she doesn’t do much more than work day in and day out she starts listening to the popular “Sorry Not Sorry” podcast... this podcast assigns you tasks that will help you find your inner bad girl.... going to be honest some of these things I don’t believe would make you a “bad girl,” but it might take you out of your comfort zone.... but bad girl or not I think it made for a wonderful story and helped Charlotte... there is quite a bit more to the story and some characters actions I didn’t necessarily agree with, but I don’t want to spoil anything...

Charlotte was a pretty sympathetic character, I really felt for her, she really had a lot on her plate... A super demanding job, planning a wedding for her BFF, and looking for the elusive perfect man... I have to admit though I did not always find Charlotte terribly relatable... The secondary characters were wonderful I would love to read a book about Tanzie, she is a girl I can get behind! I also loved Bianka, got to love a character it is fun to hate! And boy was it fun to hate her! It is so true that as our friends begin to get married and have children we tend to lose touch or become closer to those that are at the same stage in life as we are.... I was the second in my friend group to have kids so I guess I was the one to lose touch, but believe me there was many a Friday night I wish I was out with the girls rather than changing diapers... The grass certainly is always greener on the other side of that marriage fence....

An engaging story that will make you want to find your inner bad girl and start listening to podcasts! Recommend!
