I’m obsessed with Lisa’s writing style and really look forward to each of her releases. Even if you’re unfamiliar with the series, this title still holds up as a standalone novel that will keep you up late and on the edge of your seat throughout. Another smash.
Never Tell by Lisa Gardner is a mystery thriller book that is the eleventh in the series which I didn't know when I requested it barring a few instances which mentioned stuff that happened previously you can read it as a standalone. I enjoyed this book because of the characters and plot especially the twists that I did not see coming. I am adding the rest of Gardner's books to my never-ending TBR.
Never tell by Lisa Gardner.
Book 10 of Detective D.D. Warren.
One death might be an accident.
Two deaths looks like murder.
A man is shot dead in his own home, and his pregnant wife, Evie, is found with the gun in her hands.Detective D.D. Warren instantly recognises her. Sixteen years ago, Evie also shot her own father. That killing was ruled an accident.D.D. doesn’t believe in coincidences. But this case isn’t as open and shut as it first appears, and her job is to discover the truth.Evie might be a victim.Or she might be about to get away with murder again.
A really good read with good characters. Although my first from this series. I did enjoy the twists. Had me guessing. 4*.
This was a really enjoyable read, I flew through it, turning pages to try and find out what was going to happen. This was quite far into the series but I didn't feel like I'd missed anything by starting at this point in the series.
This book was easy to get into and easy to read. Although it is the 10th book in the series (I think it should be made clearer that it is partnof a series) this book did work as a stand alone.
I absolutely love Gardner's writing & this one didn't disappoint.
Fast-paced with plenty of character development another real page-turner from one of my favourite suspense writers.
A previous Netgalley choice got me in to Lisa Gardner's books, and this one did not disappoint. It entwines the present day's events with crimes from years ago, and keeps you turning the pages as you are desperate to find out the conclusion. This author is extremely popular at my library, and I am working my way through her back catalogue.
As a fan of Lisa Gardner, it was comforting to be back with familiar characters and following on with their stories.
Here you meet Evie who comes home to a crime scene finding her father dead. Flash forward she is coming home to another crime scene finding her husband dead.
We meet DD and Flora from previous books working together to find out what really happened to Evie and learn that as usual, not everything is as it seems.
I really enjoyed this book and thought the book would end a certain way but was proved wrong. Highly recommended for fans of Lisa Gardner.
Enjoyable and easy to read from the off.
I've read a few DD Warren books before, but I don't think that I've reviewed any for NG.
A man has been shot and his wife, Evie is holding the gun DD recognises Evie from a case long ago which also involved a shooting.
Very easy to get into and very easy to read. Even though this is the 10th book in the series (I didn’t know) this book also works as a stand alone. This book follows Evie and two shooting incidents. First her father and now her husband. Is she guilty of killing both, or just one, or neither? I enjoyed it other than a couple of things. I guessed the plot pretty early on. High recommend to anyone looking for a page turner.
It has been a while since I read a Lisa Gardner book and I was keen to get back into the swing of things with DD. It didn't take long to feel like I had never been away and as a bonus, we see the reappearance of Kimberley Quincy. Flora Dane is also another character we see return and I was so pleased to see her and watch the integration of her along with DD and Kimberley.
This latest book starts out with the death of a man seemingly shot by how own pregnant wife. But that wife it appears was also accused of shooting dead her father when she was a teenager. This book was an absolute treat to read with lots of previous stories being intertwined with DD's current life. There is plenty of action and some old fashioned 'who dunnit' threads appearing throughout the book.
I absolutely loved this book but I think more so because i Knew the history of the characters. Don't get me wrong you can certainly read as a standalone but like many other series of books its wonderful to see the growth and lifeline of a character develop over time and this was no different. Thankfully although disappointed when I finished I have the latest release due out later this year ready to read!
I absolutely adore the writing style of Lisa Gardner and this gripping page turner doesn’t disappoint!
The characters are well rounded and the story flows well from the first chapter.
I’m loathe to give away the plot in a review as it could really spoil what can be a draw dropping moment when the twists and turns occur throughout the book.
If you are looking for that “one more chapter” can’t put down read then this is the book for you!
Ooooh this was a great book and had me turning pages into the night!!! Love the character DD Warren and it was a fast paced page turner which I love! Had me gripped from the start and didn’t let up, loved the ending and can’t wait for the next one!
This is my second book by Lisa Gardner in as many months. In both cases I had a suspicion about the brain behind the murder(s) - or in the first case, behind the abduction. Not sure if that was intended by the author, not sure if I appreciated it as a reader. Perhaps I'd rather be blown away by a dazzling twist at the end?
Enjoyable and well-paced story, though.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book.

An electrifying thriller.
A man is shot dead in his own home, and his pregnant wife, Evie, is found with the gun in her hands.
Detective D.D. Warren instantly recognises her. Sixteen years ago, Evie also shot her own father. That killing was ruled an accident.
D.D. doesn’t believe in coincidences. But this case isn’t as open and shut as it first appears, and her job is to discover the truth.
Evie might be a victim.
Thanks to NetGalley and Cornerstone for giving me an advance copy of this awesome thriller.
*thank you to Netgalley, Lisa Gardner and Random House UK for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*
4 stars.
With a beginning like this story has, it's hard to not fall deeply into it and not want to stay hooked. I was interested right away and found this to be rather fast paced, excellent read. You don't need to have read any of the other books in the series that have come before this one to enjoy it. It kept me wondering right to the end and was just right for what I was wanting from a story. This definitely gets a tick from me.
This is the first D.D. Warren novel I have read and it won’t be the last! A secret from her teen years comes back to haunt pregnant Evie when she returns home one evening to find her husband shot dead in his office. The thing is, this isn’t the first time a close relative of Evie’s has been shot dead at home, so understandably the police suspect Evie. The novel sees D.D Warren try to decipher the lies that Evie is telling and meanwhile Evie is convinced that her dead husband has been up to no good. In this story there are lies, and subterfuge at every turn and when the ending hits, it hits with a vengeance. I really enjoyed Flora’s storline. As a survivor of the most traumatic experience, Flora’s character is exciting, flawed and really gets you rooting for her. Loved this book!
I love these characters, and I enjoyed this book, but the plot was a little too contrived for me to give it the usual 5 stars that Lisa Gardner gets from me. She is one of my favourite authors and can always be depended upon to get the adrenaline pumping. In this book, DD and Flora once again pair up to solve a murder which is not as cut and dried as it first appears when the accused is found standing over the victim holding a recently discharged shotgun. This is not the first time the Evie Carter has been found in this position. Is it really possible that it could just be a tragic coincidence? As the story unravels and the backgrounds of the key players are revealed, the situation becomes dangerous for all involved and it is a race against time to find the truth and save the innocent.
I loved this book! The way the story intertwined with the previous killing to eventually unravel and reveal the secrets from years ago was great, the characters had me intrigued and I couldn’t put it down towards the end.
Thank you Netgalley for letting me have a copy of this book.
I absolutely love Lisa Gardner, I have loved every single one of the books that I have read of hers and this one did not disappoint.
The suspense and the plot twists in her books get me every time and this is no exception. I was hooked from start to finish. Never Tell was so easy to pick up but so so difficult to put it down. Make sure when you pick this book up you have put a couple of hours aside because you will struggle to put it down so much.
I pride myself on the fact that I have read so many thriller books that it is now really difficult to take my by surprise. However Lisa Gardner has done it again. The plot twist took me by surprise and I did not expect it at all. I can't believe she has done it again. I was so enticed by the story, especially with the parts about the dark web. Through my line of work I am familiar with its function but I am so so happy that the research that Lisa clearly did was portrayed in this book.
I would recommend this book to anybody that will listen to me, it is fantastic and I can't wait to read more!
