Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.
This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.
Totally enjoyed it. Fast paced and completely unexpected ending. All in all, a satisfying read that, even though I hated both MCs, kept me engaged throughout.
This was a brilliant read. As soon as I started reading this book I just knew I was going to love it. Highly recommended
Dear Publishers.
Firstly, thanks very much for the opportunity to read and review this title.
Unfortunately, I just wanted to let you know that I won't be reading and reviewing this title due to the large number of titles that I currently have on my shelf, and my inability to read them all. Also, I feel that a review at this late stage probably won't assist you or the author. For these reasons, I've decided to tidy up of my Netgalley shelf and I will be removing this one from my TBR pile.
I hope to be able to read and review further titles for you in the future.
Thanks and Regards
Kim
I haven't read anything by this author before, but enjoyed the book and was gripped from beginning until the shocking end. Recommended.
An impossible-to-put-down domestic thriller about secrets and revenge, told from the perspectives of a husband and wife who are the most perfect, and the most dangerous, match for each other
I really enjoyed this book and would read more from this author. May have been first but won't he the last.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.
After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.
I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.
Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.
I wanted to enjoy this story but unfortunately for me at least it fell a bit short. I didn’t connect with the main characters at all and for me to be invested in a story I need to feel something for them.
The story itself is told well but it just wasn’t for me.
I requested this book when I first joined NetGalley however reading the premise now this is not a book that appeals to me and therefore I will not be reading and reviewing it. Due to this I have rated the book 3 stars as I think this is a fair rating.
I loved learning about Paul and Rebecca, its like having perfectly perfect neighbours who the more you watch the more disjointed and messed up they really are.
Hes a cheater shes self medicating. Its really intreguing stuff. For me it was a gripping thriller reminding us that nothing is what it seems.
Couldn't put this down. Wanted to know what happened with all the characters. The ending was unexpected as the way it was written was in such a way that you expected Paul to have been having an affair, not what it turns out he was actually doing. Would love to hear more about Wes though his story and background how he met them. Thank you for letting me read this.
Enjoyed this book and the flawed characters of Rebecca and Paul. There's a lot going on beneath the surface of them and I couldn't help[ but feel that they're the perfect match. There are tons of twists and turns as the narrative jumps between before and after a particular event. The ending was crazy but in a good way. I was hooked throughout and highly recommend this book!
I understand this book is written by two writers and I wonder if they spent their time trying to outdo each other! It was quite well written and it was not difficult to keep up with the different points of view the book was written from BUT it was necessary to suspend your belief on so many levels. None of the major characters were likeable - Rebecca, Sheila, Sasha, Mark - and Paul, Rebecca's husband, was very bland. One wonders how they had survived the first twenty years of their marriage. The pill-popping, lies, adultery, stalking, break-ins are so over the top and the plot lines exceed believability and verge on fantasy. Having said all that I did want to know the outcome. Two and a half stars for me.
Many thanks to Netgalley/E.G. Scott/Orion Publishing for a digital copy of this title. All opinions expressed are my own.

That's right Ladies and Gents, settle yourself down and be prepared to read a book where you don't believe a single word any of the characters say!
I love a book with an unreliable narrator, and this book has 3 of them!!!!
Rebecca and Paul have been happily (hahaha) married for coming on 20 years, they both have secrets and are expert at lies, Paul because of the affair that he is having, and Rebecca for the opioid habit that is taking over her life.
They are both master manipulators, and lying is second nature to them, they will use it for whatever means they require.
Told in multiple POV, you get the story from Paul and Rebecca, but you also get the past and present mixed up in there too, which sounds like it would be confusing, but it really isn't at all.
Be prepared to not really like anyone, although to make you not like a character, means that they must have been brilliantly written, for you to have such a visceral response to them.
A fabulous book full of twists and turns that you probably won't see coming at all.
**Many thanks to Orion Publishing, Trapeze books, Netgalley and the Author for my copy of the book**
You know I am never keen on reviews/blurb that starts ‘for fans of....’ simply because it got to being over used about a couple of books, one being ‘Gone Girl’........however this book, from the off, reminded me of it, so for once am saying it!!
As I was reading this and getting to grips with the various going’s on I wrote down ‘ a story saturated with layers of deceit, double deceit, quad crossing! and lies
And it really is
From the off Rebecca and Paul ( in their narrative ) describe a marriage and life that would exhaust most of us, their distrust and manipulation of each other is unbelievable, yet, so is their fierce and passionate love!
There is murder, affairs, plotting and wheedling on a scale hard to find in many stories and all done in a haze of prescription and non prescription drugs ( Rebecca works for a Pharmam company and takes them as easily as I would take a biscuit😃 )
The story ultimately winds up with Rebecca being so jealous and so insecure she misreads a few things she stumbles on and so starts a catastrophic set of events that dont stop until the final chapter with its chilling end!
Character wise, its impossible to like the leads but you aren’t meant to and thats half the fun, nothing like a good dose of righteous indignation, the other characters that feature are equally as demonstrative, cold and unloveable
The writing is sharp, focused and unapologetically raw
I am not surprised to read filming for this ( I think series rather than film ) has already been given the go ahead
A strong book, I wouldnt say my favourite this year but one of those I could talk about the most
9/10
5 Stars
I found this a difficult read due to the constant changes in time throughout. I did however follow the plot and guessed what Paul was doing. The final ending was certainly not anywhere near my thought processes and I loved the fact that this was so original.
Despite the flow of the book restraining the reading I would still recommend this to my friends to read purely because of its originality but I would advise them to plow through the confusing parts.. The characters were very well defined and I could easily relate to them. With a more conducive sequence to the story this would be an amazing book and certainly warrant then the full star rating.
I don't repeat the blurb. Sorry, but this just didn't catch my interest or attention so I just couldn't even get past the opening part...not for me personally...
I found this really difficult to read, not because of the plotline but because it jumped around too much from one point of view to the other but also the time changes, I was finding myself completely confused. But, I did finish it and I thought overall it was a good read if you can get past the jumping around.
Really good read. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Will post a full review soon on the blog. Look forward to reading more from this author!
