Thank you Netgalley for the advanced copy.
I loved so many things about this book. If you want a flipped version of Pretty woman then this will be for you. H
James as Jimmy was rough, uncouth, and totally full on male. Lizzie (Elizabeth) just wanted to please her dad. Finding Jimmy and turning him into James was the first step into showing these two the real people they are inside. There's so many levels of unfinished story here. Charlie is Jimmy's brother and this could have really been written more deeply.
I could have happily rated this 4 stars until 80% and the author threw in something disgusting and it basically ruined so much of the connection between James and Lizzie. It definitely didn't show anything but how physically weak the hero was. To say a man has no body control is like making excuses for men. It was gross and did not add to the love story. Since the heroine didn't know there wasn't any purpose to it.
The ending was rushed. So many lacking pieces.
Sigh 2.5 stars rounded to 3
There's just not gonna be heroes anymore that are loyal even physically like Remy unfortunately. He's proof that it's possible but here that was not the case. That scene could have proven the hero truly felt only loyal to Lizzie but it showed instead that he'll rise to any woman. Lizzie isn't special at all.
Million Dollar Devil - Katy Evans
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A fabulously fun read by Katy Evans. In the style of a reverse ‘Pygmalion’, Katy Evans brings to life her own version with a super real guy, YouTube sensation, Jimmy Rowan, being shaped into the perfect man to represent Banks LTD exclusive menswear line by the Banks Heiress, Elizabeth.
Jimmy and Lizzy are a perfect foil for one another, Jimmy with his rough edges and crass lines and Elizabeth with her trust fund and high society connections but through it all, each learns about their own needs and their true feelings and worth.
A wonderful story with witty banter and great characters make this a very enjoyable story. One I’ll be rereading in the future.
Heir apparent to her father’s company, Lizzy Banks needs a man. The perfect man. But when the rich she usually rubs shoulders with prove impossible to hire. When I started reading I couldn't put it down.Katy Evans is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can't wait for the next book.
"If you were shopping for gentlemen, baby, you went to the wrong place."
Hot damn! Who wants a gentleman when you can have a #ManBabe like him? Excuse me while I fan myself... Jimmy is a daredevil who has a YouTube following. He takes dares for money and he's not afraid of anything. But, will he do anything for money? A million dollars is a lot of money, right? Will he allow the beautiful heiress to polish his ruggedness into within an inch of its life, give him a makeover, and drape him in sophisticated suits? Could he pull it off? Would he want to? Maybe, if she's part of the deal...
Lizzy is determined to prove herself to her father. She needs the perfect man and she can't find one among the rich and famous. Those entitled jerks aren't impressed by a million dollar contract and can't be bothered. So, what does she do? She decides to find some man-clay and mold him into sex in a suit. Someone that every man wants to be and every woman wants. What she didn't expect was to be one of those women who want him. "I can't pretend that his raw look of masculinity doesn't spin my libido-meter. Steeped in wild danger, the synergy between us is electrifying."
Ladies, prepare to swoon over this sexy beast! When your virtual eyes observe his photoshoot, the irresistible smirks, the dimple, those abs...sigh. Yeah, you'll be drooling right along with me once you one-click on this amazing book. You'll also be worried right along with me as the danger of the ruse being discovered escalates. It's a brilliant idea, but not necessarily one that Lizzy wants her father, coworkers, clients or the media to get wind of. Now that she's turned him into the man of her dreams, will she have to let him go?
This is a story of Pygmalion in reverse. Lizzy is desperately in need of a model for the new menswear line for her family’s business. She finds rough and tumble Jimmy in a dive bar, and the transformation begins. This story was fresh and unique. It was real and unpredictable. It was a thoroughly enjoyable read that kept me surprised and at many points, in suspense. You won’t be disappointed to spend a day snuggled up reading this wonderful book!
Gosh this book was terrible. Has it really been so long since the release of Real , that my tastes have changed, and I can't stand Evans' writing anymore? Because I honestly cannot stand the writing, and the characters and literally everything, because even the worst books have something redeeming, and this had nothing.
Thankful to receive this one from Netgalley. This is not my first book by this author and it won't be my last. I love her work. That being said I was nervous if I will love this one you too. I knew from the 1st chapter I will love it. I just couldn't put this one down.
Jimmy is real man one who is not afraid to get his hands dirty. He is raising his little brother Charlie because the rest of his family died. He is so sweet and caring with Charlie. Which makes you love him more. Lizzy is an only child seeking approval from her rich dad. They get together and have a plan on how eachother could help the other. As they are helping eachother Jimmy doesn't play fair with his flirting. He is very blunt, thorough, and very sexy.
I wish we knew more about his brother Charlie. Especially why he keeps getting beat up. Then there is Luke who is mysterious. Hoping this is just the beginning to a new series. I do get addicted to her work. So thankful for Montlake publishing for giving this one as an arc to me.
I miss old school Katy Evans. Real felt so unforgettably romantic and her romances of late have lacked much build and depth for my personal taste. I couldn't get into this one at all. Nothing about it felt original or memorable and I skimmed a lot of it.
Hmm, there was something about this book that never fully clicked with me. I liked the plot, and thought I'd get more into it as I read it, but I just never did. Maybe it was Lizzy Banks. She was so all over the place with how she felt about James that I couldn't stop rolling my eyes. She was super selfish, and was super condescending with James. Enough to the point that I was screaming at her. I just couldn't relate AT ALL to her, and that always takes me out of the story. I know not every story will have that, but she was just too much for me.
I’ve read other books by this author, so I requested this arc, as the blurb sucked me in.
I don’t know where it went weird but for most of the book it’s just sexual tension, not many feelings until Bam! there they are!
The ending or more like the last 20% was not my favorite. Lizzy was going to give it all up for a hothead she loved. It just didn’t feel right.
I received this ebook copy from the publisher and NetGalley for an honest review.
I’ve read this author before so I was excited to read this new story. While I enjoyed this story, it wants my favorite from this author. It took some working up to get me invested, but it turned out to be a fun read.
This is the story of Lizzy and James. Lizzy believes with all her heart that James is the MAN for her and her current needs. She is bound and determined to make him hers; and James… well James loves the chase. Lizzy is a strong and determined woman, who knows what she needs and finds that in James (in more ways than one). James is a little rougher around the edges, but that is what makes him such a fun read (the contrast between these two characters).
It did take a few chapters to really connect with these characters but their connection is undeniable. I loved the chemistry and the heat. Face paced and full of steamy scenes this story is a great escape for any reader. While it is not the most realistic story (there are quite a few unbelievable instances) this story is pure fantasy fiction. Enjoyable, I received an ARC via NetGallery and am leaving an honest review. #NetGallery #MillionDollorDevil
Million Dollar Devil is an amazing and satisfying read. It will have you swooning and falling in love from the very first pages.
Jimmy has left his mark on me. He’s gorgeously sexy and devilishly flirty. There’s no way you can resist him. Heart flutters. Swoon!. He may just be my favorite book boyfriend ever ❤️❤️ and I am not sharing. He’s that good and he’s all mine!
Lizzy, for me, was a harder sell. Although I understood her motivation and reasons, she was a little too harsh. Especially at the end. After everything they had been through, she should have seen beyond and cared less about the superficial. I believe she needed the makeover more than Jimmy ever would.
The angst as well as the push and pull between Jimmy and Lizzy was unbearable. Literally. All I wanted was for them to get it on and work out all that angst. It seems like it took forever but when they did, it was explosive! It couldn’t be anything but!
The story was intriguing while the characters were real and true to who they are.
I received an ARC via NetGalley of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I loved loved this book so much. It was fun and sexy and so steamy. I loved the encounter between the two main characters. This Devil has one dirty mouth.
Katy Evan's books are always a must read for me and this one is no exception. She is one of my always one click authors.
I liked it, but for my taste it was a bit slow.. I love my men alpha, bossy, demanding, possessive. James for my feeling just lets Lizzy walk over him and that's just not fun to read.
I requested this arc because the blurb sounded really good and I was intrigued! It could've been so much more than it now was. I admit it was a unique story, but there were things that didn't add up.
Also the dad is such a hard-ass and then in a sudden move he is understanding and supportive? Just as well as LB that doesn't add up with his character or maybe it's just me. But nobody does such a bad thing and then they all act like it never happened..
The one I really liked in this one is Charlie he is so adorable and smart!
*Also I think there was a mix up near the end because James said something to I think Kim, but in the book he says Jeannie. I think that was a typo*
I absolutely LOVED this book!! I always love Katy Evans but this has to be my favorite. James and Lizzy evolved throughout the book. James realizing that although he wasn’t rich, he had everything he needed with Charlie and his friends and he doing exactly the kind of exciting work he wanted with the “dares.” He never said no to a dare and when Lizzy dared him to become the face of the Banks Ltd new campaign, he couldn’t say no and for $1 million who would. All Lizzy wanted to do was please her father but as the book proceeds, it is so good to see Lizzy let her hair done and just be the person she was always meant to be. Their love was a slow burn but it really gave you a chance to get to know them and what makes them tick. James’ story broke my heart and I loved Charlie and Luke. I will be honest, I did not like Lizzy’s best friend, Jeanine and was surprised that their friendship didn’t end. Jeanine was selfish. The manner in which James declares his love for Lizzy gave me all of the feel good you expect from Katy Evans. And the end was beautifully written. I highly recommend this book!
Oh my god, I seriously can’t even with this book!!! Like every Katy Evans book, it was amazing! It captured me on the first chapter, and that was it, I was hooked. I loved every bit of the story from start to finish, **sigh** Jimmy, I loved his and Lizzy’s chemistry together how you could legit feel the electricity between them. Amazing read and I would highly, HIGHLY recommend reading!! To all you Katy Evans Fans, Yet another fantastic read for you all to devour!!! FYI though, Jimmy—is MINE 😉
I loved Manwhore, Katy Evans’s other romance series, so I jumped on the possibility of reading an ARC for her latest novel. I got about 25% of the way through and I won’t be finishing it. The characters and dialogue simply don’t appeal to me. Not my thing, this one.
I requested the book because the description really captivated me and I have enjoyed most of the Katy Evans books I have read. This book is somewhere in the middle of my personal rankings of Katy's books.
Like all of Katy's books, I really enjoyed the writing style. I also really like James and found myself rooting for things to workout for him. I really didn't like Lizzie, which was a bummer. I had a hard time connecting with her and didn't relate to her at all. This made it hard for me to root for her and it made it REALLY hard for me to root for her and James.
Overall I enjoyed this book and would read it again, but it is not one of my favorites from Katy Evans.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
I have enjoyed this author's work in the past, though it has admittedly been a minute since I have picked up one of her books. Unfortunately, this one fell flat for me. I didn't feel the chemistry or connect with the characters and the banter - instead of feeling sparky and playful - felt more...sexual. Straightforward sexual. And, that is a thing that rarely works for me in books. I need to feel something on an emotional level. I need a playfulness that will make me smile and cause my heart to beat faster.
In any case, this one failed to hook me early on, and I was unable to connect with the characters or the storyline to invest enough to finish the book. DNF @ 27%
Million Dollar Devil is Katy Evans newest contemporary Montlake Romance. Million Dollar Devil does check off all the boxes as you are romanced and swooned. Handsome, rugged daredevil man - check. Driven, uptight, professional female needing daddy approval– check.
I loved so many thinks about Million Dollar Devil but I wish it had a bit more. There is banter and funny moments. There are lessons to be learned. And of course there are misunderstandings.
Jimmy Rowan is a YouTube “Daredevil” trying to survive and take care of his younger brother. Elizabeth Banks (Lizzy) is heir to Banks LTD and hopeful future CEO. But, it is a man’s world and even though she is the only heir…it is a man’s world. At least according to her dad. She tries to get her daddy’s approval while having roadblocks thrown at her.
Lizzy herself is snobby and assuming in the beginning. She discovers Jimmy in a rundown bar and the chemistry is there from the beginning. There is push and pull as they fight the attraction they have toward one another.
"He’s just a dirty, sweet-talking guy from the street."
Lizzy attempts to make Jimmy the face of Banks LTD new line of designer suits. So she sets out to create the ideal, rugged, successful man- or image of a man. As they work together to create his image they create other things as well. Hot hot chemistry that basically explodes.
I love Katy Evans and love her writing. I am a huge fan! Million Dollar Devil was a few dollars short for me but may be enjoyable for others. The story is slightly different than Katy’s Indie books. It seems as though her Indie books are an outlet of creativity without limit. I will not let this discourage me! I look forward to reading more of Katy Evans in the future!
