Lizzy and James have their unique slow burn love story. We do not see a lot story when rich girl fells for poor single parent figure. That is exactly what happens in the book. Lizzy is full of daddy issues, James with baggage from the past but somehow they connect on deeper level and can see the best that lies underneath all hidden layers. Story was not perfect but nevertheless very enjoyable hot romantic and daring.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly
Million Dollar Devil features Lizzy Banks, a top executive for her family's menswear company. When working on a new campaign, does she find the model to secure her business success or the man of her dreams? This is a solid romantic story. There is character development and steamy romance. Thanks Montlake and NetGalley for the ARC of this title.
I loved this story. 2 completely different people, 2 people closed off in their own worlds not really living to the whole extent. It was so much fun to see how they both grew and loved towards the future.
After I read the synopsis of Million Dollar Devil, I knew it was a book I wanted to review, not only because Katy Evans is one of my go to authors, but also because I love the fact that the story’s heroine, Elizabeth ‘Lizzy’ Banks is the one who comes from money and is the woman in charge/soon-to-be in charge of a lucrative business in a male dominated field.
It’s clear that Lizzy will stop at nothing to prove herself to her father and acquire his approval, something that doesn’t seem to occur easily or often, which means that she’ll do whatever it takes, even if it means selling her soul to the devil and turning a sexy and daring man into her vision of male perfection, even if it’s only for the sake of appearance and Lizzy’s desperate need to make her father believe in her.
The fact that Lizzy wants to change James into the perfect model for her company’s new men’s line, polishing his rough edges so he fits the image she needs and then falls for the perfect package he becomes was a bit problematic for me simply because the main reason for her altering his outward persona is so she can prove to her father just how capable she is to run the company and dominate in an industry ruled by men. Also, because both Lizzy and James seem focused on superficial things - for her, it’s her desperate need of approval and for him, it’s to smooth talk his way into Lizzy’s pants.
Once Lizzy and James’ relationship starts to become about so much more than her career and his attraction to her, it was much easier to connect with the story and its characters, especially when readers found out about James’ past and why he chooses to live the way that he does. What also made things more tangible for me when it came to Lizzy and James’ burgeoning relationship is the fact that Evans started truly showing who her two characters are at their core. In my opinion, a story resonates with readers when they can relate to the hero and heroine and the struggles they face throughout the plot line, and while I didn’t feel like much of this was explored in the first half of the book, once I made into the middle of the text, I became much more invested and couldn’t wait to see when Lizzy and James finally gave into their desires for each other and what that meant for their respective future careers.
Despite the areas of the story line that I struggled with at times, I enjoyed seeing how everything played out with the consummate professional and the devilish beast she looks to transform a suave gentleman, but I do have to say that I quite liked James’ beastly side, especially when exuding sexuality and risking it all is exactly what he needs to do to claim the woman he wants.
4 Poison Apples
I loved this book! It was so good, can’t wait for more! Thanks Katy Evans for giving me the ultimate book hangover.
3,5 stars
I have mixed feelings about this one, even though I usually enjoy most of Katy's books I find myself struggling with this one!I think the premise of the story was interesting and super sexy like all her books!Seriously it was hot. However I couldn't connect with the heroine. This was very easy to read and fast paced!
3.5 ‘Devil’s dare’ Stars!

I am always ready for whatever this lady writes and Million Dollar Devil did sound right up my alley. I mean a sexy YouTube daredevil making a heiress to a fortune and business fall in love not with the perfect guy she has created but the actual man inside of that? Sounds great, right? And it surely was entertaining and sexy, as any word written by Katy Evans.
Million Dollar Devil is a standalone romance and in Katy’s new series called Million Dollar. As far as I can see, you can actually read this as a standalone because the next book is about another couple. This one focuses on Lizzy Banks, a woman decided to proof her worth at becoming the CEO of the family business to her cold father, and James Rowan, a Youtube influencer that is not afraid of dares in order to help the short family he has. And who can refuse becoming a perfect gentleman when you get a million dollar deal? Well, James and Lizzy got more than they expected.
I’ve fallen in love with my own creation. I polished a diamond, and now it’s flawless. Perfect. But it’s not mine to keep.
He is not mine to keep.
I was hooked after reading that short but intense prologue. It got me curious about the plot, these two characters and their story together. However, I do have to say it actually did take me a while to connect with Lizzy and James. Lizzy seems a bit superficial to me in the first half of the book, really focused on her father’s opinion and on changing James. James also seems a man mostly focused on getting in Lizzy’s pants. Finally, when we start learning on James’ past and the feelings they start having for each other, I got more into the story. In the end, I quite enjoyed Million Dollar Devil as a whole (especially the second half when the chemistry exploded and emotions started showing between Lizzy and James).
I need her to fall FOR ME.
I need her to know that she’s mine.
Therefore, my rating for Million Dollar Devil is 3.5 STARS because it was a fast-paced, entertaining story that I quite enjoyed. I definitely can assure you though that Katy Evans has written so much better stories (such as Real and the White House series). Still, I enjoyed this love story and the chemistry between James and Lizzy, especially what developed in the second half of the book. And of course, I am interested in reading the second book in the series after meeting Luke.
I've read several books from this author, and she's usually hit or miss with me. I don't know what it is but sometimes she can knock it out of the park. Then there are times, like this one, where the story never really came together for me. I just really expected more than this.
I never connected with Lizzy. She grated my nerves from the beginning, and just never stopped. James was ok but he never held my interest the way I like the heroes too.
Even though I did finish this one, the main reason for my rating is my issues with the story itself. There was this conflict "situation" that I thought was not handled right. It didn't help the story any in my opinion. Then one of the things I hate the most, the ending was rushed. It needs to play and wrap the story up, and this one just didn't.
Million Dollar Devil by Katy Evans is book one in her Million Dollar Series.
Elizabeth Banks is a heiress, driven and determined. She does nearly everything for success, including create the perfect man for her campaigne to her clothing line.
James Rowan is a stuntman. And to be a stuntman you have to be a special kind of crazy. Throw the word bet or dare his way and he can't resist.
He becomes her Eliza Dolitte in make version - the daredevil and the heiress and that's their story.
Million Dollar Devil is well written and I liked the characters just fine. It's a witty and fun read, entertaing and I give 3,5 stars.
Received an ARC for an honest review.
This was such a fun read. Jimmy spends his days filming dares for money and Lizzy is trying to live up to her father's expectations so she can take over the company. When she's tasked with finding the perfect model and has a bit of trouble, she stops into a dive bar for a drink. There, she meets Jimmy, the perfect man for the job...once he's cleaned up a bit.
I liked this one because the heat between them was a slow burn. It was there from the first meeting, but the way they didn't immediately jump into bed together made the anticipation a lot of fun. As Jimmy slowly becomes James and adapts to fit into Lizzy's world though, he starts to lose sight of who he is. What comes next is a fun and intriguing ride where these two have to balance the insane heat between them and the secret of Jimmy's real background.
Evans is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors and this latest installment is just another example of why.
Million Dollar Devil will thrill you and and keep you guessing what is going to happen next.
I loved reading Elizabeth Banks and Jimmy Rowan’s story. Elizabeth is trying her hardest to make her father proud of her so when she proposes to start a new men’s suit line her father gives her a chance to find the perfect man. After striking out with three well known men, she finds herself in a not so nice neighbourhood, in a place called Tim’s Bar.
What she wasn’t expecting to find was a diamond in the rough. Jimmy Rowan is a well known daredevil who takes dares from fan’s and films them to put on YouTube. When he walks in to his usual haunt, Tim’s Bar, he doesn’t expect to find a woman like Elizabeth sitting there.
Elizabeth sees Jimmy and knows his looks are exactly what she’s looking for. She offers Jimmy an offer to model for her dad’s business and he can’t say no.
This story was amazing from start to finish. I loved how it ended! I highly recommend getting your hands on this book!
This book is amazing. James aka Jimmy is a daredevil on a youtube channel. Lizzie aka Elizabeth is a rich woman and only wants the appreciation from her father. She meets him at a bar and she gets an idea for her big launch for her dads company. I would have loved to see him in a tuxedo. Thats when the big adventures takes place. This book just grabs you in and can't stop reading it. I had to know what happened in the end. Highly recommend it. I love these two. Another good read by Katy Evans.
3 DAREDEVIL CROWNS
This was an okay read. It had its moments and some likable characters, but there were also moments that fizzled our or seemed to be over the top.
My favorite part of the story is the daredevil. James was utterly delicious. I liked his persona and how he loved Charleigh. His ethical struggle made sense, and his insecurities matched his character. As with most heroes, his bedroom skills were in point, and the bedroom scenes with the heroine were great.
The heroine, Lizzy, was hit or miss for me. There were times I loved her, but there were also moments where I could understand her Dad’s decision. I needed her to be a bit more mature to be likable.
The story, overall, is pretty predictable. I enjoyed it, but I also didn’t have a pressing need to pick it up and devour it. It was a good read, truly. It just lacked the punch I need in a story to engage me.
Katy Evans has delivered another great love story in her trademark gripping style. As always once you start one of her books you are drawn into the world she weaves and you become invested in the tale she tells. She will have you swooning from beginning to end with Jimmy.
I loved the characters Katy has given us. The sexual tension between Lizzy and Jimmy is palpable, a slow burn that has you on the edge of your seat waiting to see when Lizzy will give in to her feelings. The banter between them was engaging and thoroughly enjoying.
Wonderful story that makes this a must read
5 stars #MANBABE
I freaking adore Katy Evans and everything she writes and she didn't disappoint with this one either. I finished this book in one sitting bcz i am so in love with "Devil". Katy writes best sexy sweet alpha male and James "Jimmy" Rowan is damn hot. I enjoyed all the sexual tension between Lizzy and Jimmy.
Lizzy wanted to find a perfect male model for his father's new line of suits. When it didn't work out she decided to make a perfect man. Jimmy is a rather simple guy who do stunts on YouTube for money. He's DAREDEVIL. It would take alot to made him perfect but he was her only choice!! Would they get their HEA or will Lizzy had to let him go??
Million Dollar Devil is amazing, sweet, swoony, funny love story with yummy Devil... He literally sweeped me off my feet 😉Prepare to be charmed by the DAREDEVIL himself!!!
Sadly, I didn't connect with this story as much as I usually do with Katy Evans books. I was disappointed by the lack of depth in the storyline and in the characters. I have enjoyed other books by this author, but unfortunately this one was not for me.
MILLION DOLLAR DEVIL is the first instalment in Katy Evans’ contemporary, adult MILLION DOLLAR erotic, romance series. This is YouTube daredevil James Rowan, and fashion heiress Elizabeth ‘Lizzy’ Banks’ story line.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Lizzy and James) MILLION DOLLAR DEVIL follows Lizzy Banks as she is entrusted by her father to hire the new face of Banks LTD men’s clothing line. When all of her options refuse the one million dollar offer, Lizzy goes off-script and hires a man who is famous for his daredevil stunts. Enter James Rowan, and the man with whom Lizzy will fall in love. What ensues are Lizzie’s attempts to ‘clean up’ and build James into the ‘perfect man’ and the fall-out as their relationship becomes fodder for the competition.
James ‘Jimmy’ Rowan works hard to provide for his younger brother since the death of their parents years before. The offer of a million dollars to be the new face of Banks LTD men’s fashion line will set James and his brother Charlie up for a very long time but threats from more than one insider source pull James out of Lizzy’s life leaving a heart broken young woman in its’ wake.
The relationship between Lizzy and James begins as a business arrangement wherein Lizzy has three months to change James from daredevil to the perfect man. We are up close and personal as Lizzy ‘teaches’ James the dos and don’ts of the face of Banks LTD; and James teaches Lizzy how a real man treats the woman he loves. The palpable sexual attraction is steamy and hot. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
We are introduced to James’ brother Charlie; his friend and bartender Luke; Lizzy’s best friend and attorney Jeanine; her father Harold Banks, and Harold’s assistant LB. The requisite evil has many faces.
MILLION DOLLAR DEVIL is a story of opposites attract; a sexy, spicy and flirty romance. The premise is spirited; the characters are energetic; the romance is captivating and sensual.

Lizzy works for Banks LTD, they make men's suits, and she is the boss’s daughter. She is always trying to show daddy that she can do the job, but he thinks she should be doing more like charity work.
So when it is time to find a man to be the face of the new Banks LTD men's line, Lizzy is going to find that man. She just didn't know where she was going to have to go to find him.
Jimmy is a YouTube daredevil; he will do anything on a dare as long as money is involved. It has been this way since his parents died and he was left to raise his little brother. He only wants a better life for Charlie. So, when the smart, well-dressed woman shows up at the local dive bar offering him money, he can't refuse it.
Lizzy thinks she can pass Jimmy off as the new face of Banks LTD as long as she turns him into a gentleman. But what she doesn't realize is that she likes him just the way he is. The more they work together, the more the feelings between them grow.
Can Lizzy and Jimmy aka James fool everyone until the end of the new campaign? Can a good girl fall in love with the guy from the wrong side of town? Will she lose everything, including her father, to be with James? Will Jimmy change his whole life just to be with Lizzy?
I really liked this story and the idea of Lizzy and Jimmy. I think it is another good story from Katy Evans, it's not awesome but it's good to me. I hope you give it a chance and that you like it too.

This book was hard to read. To me, there was little to no spark between James and Lizzy. At times, I felt that the character of Lizzy was trying too hard and that James’ entire character got lost.
I found myself skipping pages towards the end just to see how Lizzy and James wound up together.
Katy has once again given us a swoon worthy alpha male . James Rowan claims to be no Prince Charming . He is a gruff, street smart, sexy but banged up bod and internet sensation daredevil ! Lizzy is a smart, sassy, business minded woman from the right side of the tracks.... so they say. She is out looking for the next big thing and hopefully prove to herself and her father that she is not just a pretty face but a savvy busniess woman .
The moment she ducks into the seedy corner bar she is certain she is out of her comfort zone but she holds her head high and bellies up to the bar. James works out of the booth in the back of so-called bar and when these two meet it is electric. Lizzy won't admit it and James well he does't stop letting her know his intentions . They soon come to an agreement and this is their journey!!
Loved it ! Katy always writes these wonderful characters that always have the ability to yank me into their world!

Ugh. I find Katy Evans books to be hit or miss for me. And while the blurb for Million Dollar Devil completely hooked me, I didn’t love the story itself. I liked it. I just didn’t love it.
I really liked the idea of the reversed roles in this Pygmalion story, but the overall execution of Elizabeth falling in love with her creation, James, dragged for me. The contrast between menswear exec Elizabeth and YouTube daredevil Jimmy was great in terms of how this romance needed to build. Her entire career is on the line with the success of presenting James as the new face of Banks LTD. But when Jimmy’s past is threatened to be exposed by a rival, how far will he go to protect Lizzy’s future?
There are some nice moments between Lizzy and Jimmy, and I think I liked them better than Elizabeth and James. But they just didn’t have “IT” for me in terms of absolutely loving them as a couple. And I really wanted her to grow a backbone where her dad was concerned.
Overall, this story would be enjoyable for Katy Evans readers and lovers of the trope. It just didn’t pack the punch for me that I was hoping for.
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
