I really enjoyed Covert Games, Leighton was a bit of a mystery, a sexy mystery, but a mystery, and it was great getting to know him. Lucy was smart and she had great chemistry with Leighton.
The one thing that would of made the story more enjoyable was if the author did a better job explaining events that had happened in past books. For example we no that Brooks had a truce with Lucy’s uncle, but no mention of why or how that truce came into being.
Overall a good read.
Leighton, the co-founder of Redemption Harbor Consulting or RHC, is looking to bring down a criminal empire. He will do whatever he needs to, as this will be part of his redemption. The take down is in his sights when he meets Lucy, the niece of the criminal mastermind. They decide to take him down together. The attraction is explosive, but they have to survive first. This author never disappoints. I loved it. I received this book from Net Galley and KR Press for a honest review. The opinions expressed are my own
I found this to be another highly entertaining story by Ms. Reus. I've read two other stories in this series, and I'm actually waiting for the entire series to be complete and plan to binge read them all in order. Although I've liked the ones I've read, I think they'll be even more enjoyable when read as an entire series because of the overarching story arc and reappearing characters. Ms. Reus has become one of my trusted authors for captivating, action-packed storylines and likeable characters.
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for generously providing an ARC for review.
I felt like I was watching a movie! This book is amazing from start to finish. It’s a standalone but part of a series. I admit to not reading the other books but now I MUST!!! Only because this book is so good and the characters so well written. I loved the relationships between Gage, Nova, Darcy Brooks, Senior and Leighton. Lucy was a tough cookie and loved the chemistry between Leighton and Lucy from the start. Her uncle was one sick man and she had to decide to ignore it or help them take him down. The ending made me go AWWWW. Katie really draws you in with the drama of the story but gives you excitement, heat, friendships and HEA! Awesome book!
Three years ago I listened to an audiobook of a Christmas book written by Katie Reus. I loved that story! So when I saw ‘Covert Games’ on Netgalley I requested a copy as soon as possible. And I couldn’t be more excited when I found out I was approved to read an ARC. Although ‘Covert Games’ is the sixth book in the Redemption Harbor series, it can be read as a standalone.
In ‘Covert Games’ we follow Leighton and his team while they are working on taking down there greatest enemy, Alexei Kuznetov. To get to him, Leighton is going undercover to get close to Alexei’s niece Lucy and to find out more about her criminal uncle. But soon Leighton finds out Lucy is much more than only a pawn in a dangerous game.
First of all, although this book can be read as a standalone, I would recommend reading the other books in the series too. I haven’t, but I really wish I had because while I was reading this book I felt like I missed information about the characters. Mostly I felt like I missed a connection with these characters that a lot of other readers do seem to have. At least that is what I think after seeing a view of the other reviews about this book.
There are two main characters in this book, Leighton and Lucy. Leighton is supposedly this broody and sexy guy with a dark past and not much in his life that he really cares about. And I honestly didn’t really like his character. Especially since one of the first things he says to Lucy is this sex related sentence that in real-life would make me run as fast as I can. And sadly I just couldn’t get passed that.
Lucy’s character on the other hand was one I enjoyed reading about. She was tough, hardworking and not afraid to speak her mind. I loved reading about her character. And although I didn’t really get her relationship with Leighton, I was rooting for her character to find happiness.
Next to these two main characters there were a lot of other characters that are main characters in the other books in this series. I can imagine it would be fun to read about them again in this book. To me, as a new reader of this series all those different characters where just a little confusing.
Suspense wise I think this book was really good. There was a lot going on, and I was curious to find out what would happen next. There were definitely several moments that kept me on the edge of my seat.
Overall this book wasn’t really for me. But I seriously suspect it mostly is because I haven’t read the other books in this series. And I can easily see Katie Reus’s writing is good enough to keep you hooked to her books. Although I’m not a big fan of this book, I definitely want to read the first book in this series so I can see what I’m missing out on.
4.5⭐
Covert Games was a terrific story. As it captured me from the very start and then kept me entertained and engaged throughout. And I absolutely loved Leighton and Lucy.
Plus, I really enjoyed the fact that the whole team was involved in the operation to rescue Maria from the teams old foe Kuznetsov, and when the action came it truly was edge of your seat stuff. Which honestly made it extremely hard to put down and very enjoyable to read. And it's why I would happily recommend this story to others.
Covert Games (Redemption Harbor, #6) by Katie Reus .... This is one of my favorite series...Thank you so much to the publisher and #NetGalley for letting me preview and review this book. Leighton (co-founder of RHC and haunted by his last mission is set on getting Alexei and stopping his evil empire and freeing women who are being trafficked ) Lucy ( niece of Alexei...managing one of his hotel/casinos ...is she in as deep as Alexei or is she innocent?) It is great to touch base with all the old crew and the action never stops..Plenty of laughter, tears, scary action, intrigue and steamy sex all leading to a very HEA.
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Action-packed Steamy Entertaining Romantic Great world building Page-turner Unpredictable Happily Ever After Easy-to-read Wonderful characters Funny Scary
Covert Games is a fast pace that has dark characters who are are dealing in the skin trade. Lucy is a pretty much simple straight forward female lead she would do what anyone would do in her position which is the right thing. Leighton is the man who is pure Alpha. The characters follow the tradition of Katie Reus characters from other books. While the series is on book 6 I will admit as a reader they are starting to blur together. The secondary characters from other books are fun to catch on and they are in the story as much as in the lead characters.
The background story from the other books becomes front and center in this story. Action, Romance, sex and things blowing up. Readers who love Katie Reus will enjoy this story and those new to the series will be able to catch up quickly and enjoy the story.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher KR Press LLC for the Advance copy of Katie Reus Covert Games
This is the sixth book in the redemption harbor series. Leighton and the team are given a tip about a girls being held. Leighton knows the way to take down the man who is holding them is through the man's niece, Lucy. Lucy runs her uncles casino and hotel completely unaware of the type of man he is. When she meets Leighton, she learns things about her uncle that make her see him completely different. She and Leighton along with the team make it their mission to take down her uncle all the while Leighton and Lucy are falling for each other.
We finally get Leightons story in this new release by KR. Redemption Harbor is a great series and Leighton has been a mystery from the beginning. He goes under cover and meets our heroine Lucy. She is niece to the enemy Alexia Kuznetsov and is managing one of his hotels. It’s lust at first sight and I love that Leighton is up front almost immediately after meeting Lucy. No childish games in this one which is refreshing. As our h/h work together against her uncle there’s lots of action and the story and romance moves at a great pace. We see past characters as they help with the mission but this can be read as a stand alone but you’ll enjoy it more if you read in order. Looking forward to the next one.
Redemption Harbor Consulting’s greatest enemy, Alexei Kuznetsov, is in their sights. For RHC cofounder Leighton, toppling the treacherous criminal’s empire is one more small step toward making up for his own past. To destroy Kuznetsov, he’ll go through the Russian’s niece, a woman Leighton suspects may also be guilty. When I started reading I couldn't put it down.Katie Reus is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can't wait for the next book.
Another fantastic story in the Redemption Harbor series. Ms. Reus knows how to write likeable (loveable) characters, nail biting situations, and sexy times. If you have not read any book in this series, you can start anywhere, just start reading. I fly through these books – but I am a bit of an junkie when it comes to romantic suspense. Leighton and Lucy are great characters from opposing sides of the fence but that does not matter because their story is told so that you can’t help rooting for them.
Ms. Reus tells a good story with the right blend of sexy and smoochy that will keep readers involved from start to finish.
Alex Kuznetsov dealt in sex trafficking, drugs and other crimes but for the moment was safe from the arms of Redemption Harbor Consulting, a fact that chafed at Leighton. When an opportunity presented itself for him to insert himself into Alex's hotel casino in New Orleans through his niece Luci who ran the place, Leighton jumped at the opportunity. Ostensibly he was there to rescue a friend's daughter who had been kidnapped but in reality he as salivating at bring Alex Kuznetsov down.
Luci falls for the honey trap but as it turns out is innocent of her uncle's schemes and soon she sides with Leighton and the rest of the RHC gang who are there undercover to support the endeavor. The story moves fast since Luci has been observing some anomality's and can hone in right into the source even as they quickly find and rescue Maria. The story flows well with all the team members and their significant others playing their roles seamlessly even as Leighton and Luci fall in love and indulge in hot steamy moments interspersed with the action.
I have not read all the stories in the series but I managed to enjoy this book thoroughly. I'm sorry to see the series end but can't wait to see what the author will introduce next in this contemporary action adventure genre.
This is Leighton Cannon's story. Now I had pegged him to fall in love with his best friend and FBI agent, Hazel, but that was debunked in the last book. Leighton has seen all of his friends pair off and he is starting to feel the isolation. He is stills struggling with things that happened in the military and generally living on auto pilot. He is lonely, smart, resourceful, and his friends are his only family.
When Hazel brings him some information to assist with a case that is linked to a bigger one, he knows he needs to enlist his team to help save one woman and any other women they can. But there is another woman named Luciana Carrera who is closely related to the crime boss they have been after, and they have no idea if she knows about the darker side of the business she helps run.
Leighton finds himself wanting to believe that Lucy does not know of her uncle's nefarious deeds and that she is not guilty by association, and it becomes obvious fairly early whose side Lucy is on. But there are layers of secrets, lies, and family dynamics affecting her. Suddenly her life has taken on a suspenseful and dangerous turn. It is hard to know where the truth lies and who is friend or foe. And Leighton and Lucy will have to figure out if they can really trust each other.
I liked both Leighton and Lucy. Leighton was protective, honorable, and such a charming guy. And Lucy was smart, inquisitive, and truly caring. They had good rapport and chemistry. Things happen at a pretty fast pace, and there are multiple antagonists and some twists. Fans of this series, will enjoy visiting with some of the other couples and the progression in the larger story arc that has been running through the books.
I received this book for free from netgalley and author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Love this series and this installment is no different, love that Leighton is no longer the odd man out, he deserved to find his somebody special.
A big thank you to NetGalley and KR Press LLC for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is part of a series (the last book?) And I have not read all the others. This reads well as a stand alone. This is Leighton and Lucy's story, and boy is there suspense. Fun fast paced story. Her uncle is a very very bad man. I rate this 4 stars. If you like suspense and romance- give this a try.
The Redemption Harbor Series is one of my favorites and I can never get enough. The storylines are addicting with well written and amazing characters. Once you start reading you will not want to put the story down with all the action and drama that ensues. A fanastic read and one that is highly recommended.
I really enjoyed this book! Leighton is such a great character! Lucy was such a great match for him. She’s spunky and has a great heart. There is a lot of suspense in this book. Katie Reus’s writing is incredible.
Now that everyone is paired up in Redemption Harbor Consulting, I wonder if this is the last book in the series. I truly hope not.
Leighton is very protective of Lucy. Which is a good thing when we learn what her uncle is capable of. I enjoyed their story.
Finally Leighton's story! I really enjoyed this one and found it hard to put down. I have been wondering what kind of woman Leighton would fall for her, and he has met his match with Lucy. She is my kind of heroine, and I appreciated her strength and intelligence. They go together well, and you can see that the spark is there right from the beginning. My only complaint is that the first intimate scene felt a little abrupt while I prefer a little more build up there.
The mystery and suspense was on point and kept me on the edge of my seat. The story was also paced really well and there was always a great mix of romance and suspense. 4.5 stars! Can't wait till book 7!
