There are some cute projects here but I found the directions for the one I tried to be a bit confusing. Also other than giving each project a cute coffee name I don’t know why it’s called Coffeehouse Knits.

I love the concept, knitting and coffee! The patterns are clean and classic, instructions are clear. I can see this being a popular knitting book. Definitely on my to buy list!

I love this book!! The patterns are all beautiful and seem easily knittable. There are a variety of patterns for all types of knitters, as well as a nice variety in terms of the garments.

As an avid knitter, I've always found Interweave has nice patterns, and this book is no exception. It includes 20 knitting patterns with 20 different designers and an interesting twist. There is an introduction and four short essays on the joys of knitting with others and meeting in coffee shops. The patterns include 7 sweaters, 2 scarves, 4 cowls, 1 hat, 1 pair of mittens, 2 pairs of socks, 1 Tee, and 2 shawls. They all have clear directions, nice pictures, and charts when appropriate. I'm especially looking forward to trying the two sock patterns which look very interesting, but not too difficult. In addition to the patterns and essays, there yarn resources, abbreviations, and directions (with diagrams) for castons, bindoffs, Kitchener stitch, German short rows, wrap and turn short rows, I cords, Tassels, Pom poms, and magic loop.
I thank F&W Media for providing me with the book so I could write an honest review.

Another super book from Interweave! Not one pattern I wouldn’t want to make. Lots of sweaters here that have great details to set the apart! Everyone will want to know where you got that sweater, socks, mittens or cowl. Thank you NetGalley for the free download and to the author and publisher as well. Just can’t say enough about Interweave books.

Another great knitting book from Interweave! There is a nice selection of patterns here with a little something to suit just about any knitter. Included are designs for sweaters, scarves and shawls, cowls, a hat, mittens and socks. I was initially excited to see the wide range of sweater sizes included, but quickly realized it was only certain sweaters. A couple of the sweater designs go up to a 60/63" bust, though I noticed at least one only sized into the low 40s so if this is a concern, you might want to check this book out from your local library first to be sure the design you're interested in is written for your size or you think it might be up- or down-sized utilizing your own skills and experience. Multiple well-lit photographs are included to show details well, always appreciated. Interspersed with the designs are stories centered around knitting which is a nice departure from just knitting patterns.
Thank you to F+W Media and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

This cosy, comforting pattern collection includes a variety of relaxed garments and accessories.
The designs focus on texture with some simple knit/purl stitch patterns and some more complex swirling cables and lace. Most of the designs are knit in the round, which could present a challenge for beginners or those more used to pieced garments but getting to grips with this valuable skill opens up a huge world of patterns and is well worth the effort.
The patterns are intersperced with short essays on community knitting and the magic of sharing this craft with like-minded others. This would make it a lovely gift for someone who has discovered the craft but not yet the community that surrounds it.
The patterns are well written with charted stitch patterns and clear schematics and there is an extensive techniques section at the end to aid with any that may be unfamiliar. This book should have something for every knitter and it will be lovely to see the projects that emerge from it on Ravelry over time.

Many thanks to NetGalley, F & W Media, and Kerry Bogert for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. My opinions are 100% my own and independent of receiving an advance copy.
Coffeehouse knits blends together two of my favourite things - coffee and knitting. Apparently I’m not the only one! Enough knitters love their brews whether it is tea or coffee, so much so, that they have dedicated a whole book to the idea. More often than not when we knit we usually have a hot drink sitting beside us. The meditative quality of knitting lends itself to sipping something while you do it. Another popular activity of late is these “Stitch & Bitch” nights where knitters will meet up, usually at a coffeehouse and spend a few hours with like minded people knitting and sharing. It is a place where you can show off what you are working on, get advice if you are stuck and talk about whatever is going on in your life. It is usually a drop in type group and new members are welcome with open arms.
This book is beautiful. Not only do they have delicious names like “House Blend Cardigan” and “Breakfast Brioche Shawl”, the yarns used are yummy. Some of the patterns designs echo things like the swirl in the foam of of a frothy cappuccino or the speckles pattern that remain in your cup from tea leaves. I am in love with so many of the patterns and find them stylish and wearable. There is a range of difficulty so whether you are a new knitter or an experienced one, you will find enough to keep you interested. There is a small index of special techniques that are explained.
What makes this unique is that interspersed between the patterns are a selection of essays that muse of the experience of knitting. From knitting groups, to spending a night at home curled up the “how” of how we experience knitting is as important as the what of what we are knitting.
I can hardly wait until this book is out, in my hands, and I am knitting on of the patterns.

I am so glad I was able to review this book. This is one that I definitely need to add to my knitting library. Not only were the patterns great, I loved reading the content. Knitters are often the most wonderful people and this book makes you feel warm and cozy about being a part of that amazing community. And I'm actually going to cast on one of the patterns this weekend for our road trip to visit our daughter at college.

I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. Coffeehouse Knits edited by Kerry Bogert is a collection of knitting patterns and essays with a coffeehouse theme. The collection of 20 patterns will keep you toasty from head to toe. The patterns are easy to follow beautifully photographed and the essays are interesting to read.
Hat, Cowl, Shawl, Sweater, Cardigan, Mitten and Sock patterns are all included each one a delight. I will definitely be purchasing this book as I intend to make a number of the patterns in it. Publishing Date March 12, 2019 #NetGalley #Interweave #KerryBogert

Wow...this volume makes me wish I was a more advanced knitter. Some of the patterns are above my ability. There are some deliciously unique items that I would love to make.
My primary concern about this book is how it sells the concept of doing this work at a coffee shop. I don't consider many of these projects as portable as the author seems to think.

A truly delicious collection of knitwear. This is a highly inspirational book, suitable for all abilities. Can't wait to dive in to one of the patterns. Love it!

Coffeehouse Knits is a fantastic book. There is a collection of about twenty patterns, including, tops, cowls, socks, shawls and more. The patterns are a perfect match for the theme. They are interesting to knit, yet are simple enough to easily work while chatting. The patterns are great, in fact I had gone to search through my stash to cast one on before I'd even looked through them all. Most of the patterns have gone straight into my queue, which rarely happens. The instructions are clear and the charts are well laid out and easy to follow. There is also a series of essays about knitting, all of which were a pleasure to sit and read over a nice cup of coffee. Definitely a book to own.

Coffeehouse Knits is full of wonderful patterns. I love how some patterns even indicate "perfect for knitting over a cup of coffee". With pattern names like "fudge swirl scarf", "morning brew sweater" or "extra whip socks" it's apparent that the authors of this book had fun with this book. There are several stories told by knitters, about how they learned, or started, or have changed. The book has patterns from scarves, hats and cowls to sweaters, socks and mittens. I love that the many of the sweater patterns include larger sizes, probably up to about a 3x. There are great photos of the details, and in the back of the book, there are instructions for some of the special techniques used in the book. The instructions are well written and I can't wait to cast on something comfy! (Probably the gingersnap pullover first.... ) Thanks to #NetGalley for providing a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

For people who enjoy sweaters, this will be a great addition. For knitters who tend to make accessories, this is a cute book, but not a very novel one.

This knitting pattern book includes many beautiful patterns of varying levels of difficulty so it's definitely a book a knitter could grow with. My favorite part, though, is that it also includes essays about how knitting has changed our world in recent years, with a return to knitting groups bringing people together. The other thing that I was really pleased with was the fact that all the sweater patterns come with instructions in plus sizes as well as regular sizes. And by "plus sizes" I mean up to a 63" chest circumference, which, as a plus size person, I think is incredible. It's rarely easy to find a book that caters to all body tops, or at least that's been my experience.

"Coffeehouse Knits" is a collection of cozy patterns and essays that are approachable enough for beginner knitters, but still offer some more challenging projects for the intermediate-to-advanced knitter.

With a lovely collection of patterns for jumpers, cowls, scarves, shocks and some beautiful shawls all presented and beautiful muted tones just right to go with coffee. The written and graph instructions are easy to follow and do not seem difficult. There are 20 patterns from 20 well know designers, who's sort bio is included at the back of the book. The patterns are elegant, have a little twist and are timeless - a lovely addition to any knitters library. I am going to start on the Soho shawl and the Kaffee hat.

My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars, simply because most of the patterns aren't what I like to knit.
This book has lots of lovely sweater, cowl, and scarf patterns. I was a little disappointed though, because the intro claimed that these were patterns to sip and knit at your local coffeehouse, with or without a knit group. For me, that means portable patterns. And sweaters don't fit that description for me. The most portable project is socks, and there are only two patterns in the book. Both are okay, but nothing super special.
It still gets 4.5 stars because the patterns look well written, with clear directions and charts and really, the items are gorgeous. They just don't fit my personal preference. It's still absolutely worth a look.

Coffeehouse Knits is a new pattern and essay collection edited by Kerry Bogert. Due out 12th March 2019 from Interweave, it's 144 pages and will be available in ebook and hardcover format.
It's become a lot trendier and more socially acceptable for younger people to express their creativity in social situations. I absolutely love the trend of knit-togethers. When I was younger and involved with fibre arts groups/guilds, I was almost always younger than the other members by at least a couple of decades (often more). These days at our knit-togethers, I see all ages. I also have seen a trend toward more socially aware knitting and donation knitting, which is absolutely awesome.
The 20 patterns included in this collection are all very attractive, stylish, fashion forward and 'young' looking. The designers who created them are from many countries and there are some well known names who will be familiar to the ravelry crowd. They are not heavily edited and as such, they retain the 'voice' of the designers. Some of them include both written and charted pattern directions, some include only one or the other. The styles run the gamut from simple to fairly complex. (Pro tip: there's generally a knitting 'guru' to be found at most knit-togethers who will help with just about any problems you encounter, so don't be afraid to go for an advanced pattern which calls to you in a super luscious luxury yarn). There are a number of patterns in this collection which really appeal to me. The types of projects range from smaller accessories like cowls and scarves to more time-intensive sweaters. There are a few unisex patterns, nice hats, socks, and cowls which would make great gender-neutral gifts.
The knitting patterns are interspersed with a collection of short essays on the social aspects of knitting and fibrearts. I enjoyed (and identified with) every single one of them.
This would make a lovely gift for a knitting friend or a wannabe knitter newbie. Knitting is naturally meditative and even when it's frustrating, it's intellectually stimulating and rewarding. It's worthwhile to teach others to knit and sharing a hobby with friends can enhance your friendships and bring them to another level.
Well written and enjoyable. The photography is top notch (as expected for Interweave).
Four stars. Really enjoyed this one. It's not encyclopedic, but it does include some technique illustrations for casting on and off and different shaping techniques.
