I was so delighted to see this on Netgalley as Sophie Kinsella has been my favourite author for a long time. This is a stand alone novel about a woman called Fixie who runs the family shop with some interference from her siblings. After a chance encounter in a coffee shop she finds herself being owed a favour by a successful businessman. It's a warm and witty read that I flew through in less than a day. Fans of Sophie Kinsella will appreciate it for her unique style of storytelling.

A lighthearted and at times humourous story about Fixie the youngest member of the Farr family. This is an ideal book for a snowy winters day or holiday read as in true Sophie Kinsella style, it is an easy read. Definitely an escape with characters to relate to, get annoyed with, love and root for.

Sophie Kinsella always comes through with the unexpected and fresh . Though she's surrounded by some family members who seem absolutely dreadful, Fixie is committed to her family and their shop. While her brother and sister try to use the kitchenware and general store for their own ends - selling £100 oil and getting rid of stock to hold yoga classes, Fixie holds true to the store and its staff. A long-term crush and an ethical entrepreneur are on hand to heat things up and add more complications, but it is coming to terms with her own strong personality that is Fixie's hardest project. Oh, and I love her best friend - hilarious!

I Owe You One by Sophie Kinsella a five-star read that will Fixie you. I am gonna be honest, for the first half of this novel I was struggling, and I wouldn’t even give it four-stars, but the second half just made me feel like I couldn’t put it down, I went from wanting to thump everyone to wanting to hug them and fixie them back together again. Coffee and IOU’s will make you love this story, Seb will push you and Ryan will push you further, and Fixie will do what Fixie always does and fixies everyone in her life. We could all do with a little Fixie in our lives. Sophie Kinsella is a compelling writer, if someone buys this one for you then you will owe them more than one.

I have read a lot of Sophie Kinsella's books and absolutely loved the Shopaholic books so was really looking forward to reading this one. It took me a long time to have sympathy for Fixie the main protagonist as she was besotted with Ryan who was such a shallow character and she had such low self esteem.

It was only later in the book when she had seen through Ryan that I had any empathy for her. An entertaining read and quite funny in places but not a patch on the Shopaholic books.

Fixie is having a coffee when a stranger asks her to watch his laptop while he takes a call. Then the ceiling literally falls in and she saves the laptop and in doing so changes her life. He writes her an IOU and the fun begins.
Her mother is taken ill and departs to an aunt in Spain leaving Fixie and her brother and sister in charge of the family business. Each have their own ideas on how is should be run which leads to arguments and suddenly the business isn't doing so well and Fixie has problems of her own.
Can the business be saved and the family put back together and will Fixie finally stand up to them and to herself?

Thanks to #netgalley for the ARC. I have always been a huge Sophie Kinsella fan but her book before this one Surprise Me just left me disappointed and wondering if my love of her books had come to a natural ending. I am so pleased to be able to report that my love for her books is definitely back with I owe you one. A delightful story about Fixie and her chance meeting with Sebastian and a seemingly never ending exchange of IOU's between them. Sophie has captured this book lover's heart again with some laugh out loud funny moments and some more poignant ones as well all woven together into a very enjoyable read. #sophiekinsella #ioweyouone #netgalley #transworld #tea_sipping_bookworm #litsy #goodreads

This story is everything I need! This is the kind of book you pick up when you need a little pick me up, a story that would uplift one's spirit and tell you that you are not alone and it is just so much more than that. This book is just everything and it is so whole and complete that I am very tempted to throw everyone that comes my way and tell them to pick this amazing book up.

This story deals with family, a love that will never work out and even love that you would fight everything for. For the last one that I mentioned, it both transcribes to familial and a romantic relationship. The characters will go through characters development which made the story infinitesimally better. It doesn't only apply to Fixie but even to her siblings, Jake and Nicole. Honestly, they were being so self absorbed and so selfish that it was about time that they wake up from that trance.

I love every aspect about this book that I couldn't find a single flaw that I could point out. Everything was perfect and I was so eager to follow along the characters journey yet at the same time, I never wanted it to end. Of course, my absolute favourite moments were the ones with Seb. I didn't think it could get any better than that but I was surprised yet again by just how much Sophie could really blow me away with even one scene. It was romantic and perfect. I could not have hoped for anything better than that and a better way to end the story.

If I could, I want to hug this book and just cuddle under the blankets with it because I am so in love! The style of writing is definitely done beautifully and I have once again fallen in love with this author's writing which I have grown so familiar with and very fond of over the years. I really do hope that once this book is out in the world that other readers could appreciate its beauty and hopefully love it as much as I do.

I just love Sophie Kinsella, although I will admit that I haven't read one of her books in years.

I Owe You One was just a perfect read.

Fast paced, witty and filled with a great romance.

Sophie has a unique writing style and I think if I'd not known the author before reading I would have guessed it was her.

Her novels are like being re-introduced to old friends, easy going but still packing a punch.

I loved the protagonist as I felt I could relate to a lot of her behaviours, the anxieties that she clearly felt.

If you are looking for something humorous with a touch of love thrown in, then this is the story for you.

This is my first book by Sophie Kinsella therefore I had no expectations from this story at all. The book was very easy to get into and I read this quickly. I loved the characters especially Seb who came across very genuine throughout. In fact I am 100% certain that I read this book with a smile on my face the whole time as I found it to be such a lovely feel good story with a lovely outcome.

I also giggled along with Fixie when she got herself into a pickle once or twice!

I will definitely be seeking out more books by Sophie.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this advanced copy in exchange for a honest review.

Really enjoyed this book but probably not my favourite by the author. Sophie kinsella is one of my favourite authors of all time & I wasn’t disappointed by this I would recommend any of her books.

This book just isn't for me: Fixie is too wet and lets everyone walk all over her. Ryan is self obsessed and obnoxious. Parts of it were genuinely funny, but it seemed so predictable that I gave up about half way through.

As a long time fan of Sophie Kinsella and also Madeline Wickham, I was so excited to get into this read. It took some getting into the first 1/4 of the story- I just didn’t find it that engaging or funny. I think the problem for me was the premise of ‘Fixie’ being so highly strung and finding her family set up stressful it was actually giving me anxiety! Where she was making problems worse for herself through lack of communication was driving me mad. However I because to engage with the characters in the second half and I found the story funny and more the comfort blanket of Sophie Kinsella’s other books. Still a lifelong fan, her stories have been my companion through my teens and adult life, this just won’t make my top 5 sadly.

Introducing hapless but endearing heroine, Fawn aka ‘Fixie’ Farr, whose nickname derives from her compulsion to constantly make everything right. This is an engaging page-turner which follows Fixie’s life and an assortment of characters including Jake, her obnoxious social climber brother; self-absorbed sister, Nicole; teenage crush, Ryan and ethically-minded stranger, Seb. Fixie’s journey of self-discovery sees her tackling sibling rivalries, divided family loyalties and will-they-won’t they romances along the way to discovering the meaning of true happiness and love. This is a perfect winter’s afternoon read which treads familiar Sophie Kinsella territory, but is no less enjoyable for that fact.

I loved this so much. Fixie is instantly likeable but very complex, and those layers are beautifully drawn by the author. The supporting cast and the story are refreshingly believable, even with a pantomime style villain for good measure. I’m genuinely a bit gutted that I read this so quickly - I couldn’t put it down at all - I didn’t want it to end. Highly recommended!

I have read and enjoyed quite a few Sophie Kinsella books but neither the main character, Fixie, or the plot really lived up to my expectations.

Fixie (not her real name thank goodness) runs the family business with her mother and lives by the saying 'family first'. So much so that she not only lacks confidence but everyone ignores her suggestions and only wants her when she can do something for them. When her mother goes to stay with her sister she leaves the three siblings In charge of the business together with their uncle. Brother Jake sees an opportunity to change the business but he has grand ideas without the money to follow them through. Sister Nicole wants to run yoga classes in the shop and is so self centred she does little else. The uncle wants them to stock fishing products and sees his input as an opportunity to hold meetings in expensive restaurants at the shops expense.

When sat in a cafe Fixie saves a mans computer from ruin when the ceiling falls in. This sets off a string of IOUs marked down on a coffee cup, sleeve. Seb is a nice guy who seems to like Fixie but there are lots of obstacles In the way of their friendship. One of which is Ryan, the man she has loved since school. He is back from Hollywood and he is a very unlikeable character who pretends to love Fixie yet causes her problems and unhappiness.

I spent half the book wanting to shake Fixie into action and open her eyes to the way she was being so badly treated by her family and Ryan and then suddenly it was nearly Christmas and all is well.

3.5 stars

This wasn't my favourite Sophie Kinsella book. You know, I read quite a few reviews of this before I tucked in and they were quite varied. Quite a few said that it was great, and quite a lot more said it wasn't their fave either.

Having said that, I love Sophie Kinsella so thought I'd still give it a go. However, I can see why quite a few people said they didn't really enjoy it. I didn't really gel to Fixie (really not sure of that name either...) and when Ryan came into the picture he seemed like such a horrible person, and Fixie let him walk all over her! Not only that, but I really disliked Jake and Nicole too - basically Fixie just let everyone be nasty to her on quite a regular basis.

I just didn't enjoy the relationships, they felt forced and fake and overall it was quite a cringey read. The only character I really liked was Fixie's mum. I just didn't really get the storyline, it wasn't enjoyable. So I struggled to finish it.

Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of this novel, which I have reviewed honestly.

Like so many of the other reviewers, I wanted to smack Fixie (and I do agree about the name, it's not nice). Her obsessions went on too long, her fixations with fixing, her lack of self esteem, her low self values...all became a tiny bit annoyingand dint seem to add value to the story.
The family situation was well written, thank goodness for one sensible person in the guise of Mum. As Fixie began to stand up for herself, things improved. The shop became normal again, but would brother Jake really have made such a 360 degree turn to become a nice gingerbread man?? And as for Uncle Ned, he became a caricature rather than a person.
There were so many things to enjoy within the story, I just found it a bit hard to take to some of the characters..
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for a review copy of the book.

I love Sophie Kinsella books as a rule which was why I requested this. It was a nice enough story but unfortunately I spent most of the book annoyed by the various characters and their behaviour.

That said I think a three star rating would be unfair and as I can’t rate 3.5 I’ve given four stars.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC in return for an honest and unbiased opinion.

I owe you one is the story of a family run business, focusing on Fixie, she helps her mum run the shop more than anyone else, and seems to enjoy what she does. Her brother is living a millionaire lifestyle, and her sister is aloof and self absorbed.
Like so many of us she just cant move on from her high school crush. (Some of us it doesn’t work out for, others it does). Ryan lives in LA – living a glitzy lifestyle, but all of a sudden hes back. WIll he want her, can they finally be a couple like shes always wanted?
Fixie needs to collect herself so she pops into a coffee shop and ends up doing a stranger a simple favour. Now her owes her and is determined to pay her back – but his girlfriend is slightly less than happy about it. First Seb owes Fixies a favour then she owes him – this is about trading favours with a subtle undertone of flirting and tension.
This story is a beautiful learning experience for Fixie, its a reminder that family is important, but you are just as important, and shows just what you can accomplish when you set your mind to it.

Its about love, and money, healing and taking control.
