Sassy, Feisty…
A sassy, feisty twist on the real joys of motherhood. Funny, sharp and amusing but also sad and emotional at times. Sarcasm appears to be king here. An example of how the reality of life is perhaps driving us all a little mad,
I enjoy the Why Mummy series and find myself chuckling at Ellen’s dramatic descriptions of a lot of her life. By book three, I wouldn’t have continued reading the series if I hadn’t gelled with the characters and wanted to know more about what happens with Peter and Jane and their crazy families! Another hilarious instalment of this series.
Very funny! Very relatable with so many laugh out loud moments. This was a definite page Turner, but also something you can dip in and out of. A must read for any stressed out mum.
Another hilarious read from Gill Sims. I love reading this series of books when I feel down they cheer me up. I end up laughing out loud.
Unfortunately I had to purchase a new Kindle device and could no longer access this book. I will come back and review if I read this in the future.
Fabulously funny and so spot on! As a mum of 2 girls, with a partner, 4 cats and a dog this was absolute gold! Definitely recommend
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read and review.
Like the other books in the 'Why Mummy' series this one is laugh-out-loud funny. I could not stop laughing - and relating to Ellen and her moppets. I loved reading about the chickens, and judgy dog, and catching up with Hannah and Sam. An excellent, and hilarious read.
Why Mummy Doesn't Give a ****! is the third book in the series and it does not disappoint. I can totally relate to these books and I really enjoyed this installment.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for my copy.
The best series! So glad i found these books! It has brought to me the comic relief and knowledge that you know what? Being a parent is tough but in the end i dont think a single one could say that they didnt stuff up at least a few times right? In this insane year this series was just what i needed.
A few years have passed since the last book and this one while it has it's funny moments is more about Ellen's struggles as a single parent and how frustrating it is when Simon doing 1% of the parenting thinks he knows it all. I'm not sure how much of the story is a personal part of Gill's life, I don't have any kids but my friends do and I see parts of the book in their lives particularly the babysitting while the mums dare to expect a night off. I have the next book to read but out of the series so far, this one is my favourite. #whymummyswears#
This is my first time reading Gill Sims and I LOVE it! I'll definitely need to go back to some of the older ones. Really laugh out loud funny stuff that kept me page turning and chortling away. Not really like anything else that I've read in recent years and I love that it basically reads like a diary - I'm a bit gutted these people don't really exist! Will definitely recommend to those who want something a bit Bridget jones-esque.
I received a copy of this book to review from Netgalley. Thank you for the opportunity.
A funny and quirky book that had me at times nodding my head in agreement and laughing whilst I read it. Thus book has sharp and witty writing that readers especially those who are parents will find much to relate with. The characters are interesting and familiar like some old friends. I hadn't read the previous books before but this book is understandable even without doing so.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a light hearted read.
This is the third in the Gill Sims 'Why Mummy doesn't...' series and it was my favourite by far. Now her children are in their teen years, which is phase I can relate to right now as they mirror the ages of my own children.
This time around we witness the breakdown in her relationship with Simon, which was something i never wanted to happen, but gave a more honest, complex read than her previous books - it felt more 'real life' to me and although there were fewer laugh out loud moments, I felt I liked Ellen, the main character more because of it.
All in all, another triumph from Gill Sims, who I feel as if I know, thanks to her hilarious 'Peter and Jane' Facebook page!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an opportunity to read this book.
This is the first book by Gill Sim’s that I have read and I wasn’t disappointed. This is part of a series, but you don’t need to have read the others to enjoy this, but I will be definitely be reading them now.
This book sees Ellen single after finding out her husband had an affair. She decides to move to her dream cottage but with two stroppy teenagers and a cottage that isn’t as dreamy as she thought can she pull it all together and make a go at it.
The book was funny and drew you in, every mother of teenagers can relate to her battles and it’s a great read.
The third book in the series sees ‘Mummy’ separating from husband Simon after he had an affair, and moving into her ‘dream’ cottage with the children. Obviously things don’t go quite according to her plans and chaos ensues, as Peter and Jane, now stroppy teenagers, react badly to the move and the break up.
Once again, Gill Sims has hit the right balance of over-the-top ness about the story. My absolute favourite was Simon’s request for her ‘simple’ lasagne, as all the online recipes were too complicated! This really made me laugh out loud. To be fair, so did many sections of the book, especially those involving the animals - Judgy dog is always one of the best characters, but now there’s the non-chatty chickens, and Barry the giant mongrel.
Another great success, making me laugh out loud at times.
I love these books, having followed Gill since The Peter and Jane Facebook posts I find her writing funny and entertaining. This one did not disappoint. If you love her other books, you'll love this too.
These books always make me giggle, I've read them all now and I always fine them interesting. Definitely worth picking up guys!

I have read Gill Sims previous books to this one
and I can say I wasnt dissapointed.
It was so realistic and relatable. A good read that'll make you smile.
Another birilliant book.
realistic and everything you can relate to. Family life told as it is, no sugar coating making out to be ther perfect family in this book. It is what it is, funny and relatable.
I'm actually not a big fan of "humour" novels as my humour is a bit odd so they rarely raise a titter from me. The first two installments of this actually had me in gales of laughter so I approached this both with hope and trepidation....was a third book about this family stretching things a bit. Thankfully no not at all. Ellen's marriage has broken down so we're on new territory as she embarks on life as a single mother. Shes actually quite happy(ish) to be single - she prefers her pets - but her friends have other ideas. But also is she really ready to let go of her marriage? We have another year of her life to enjoy, laugh along with. Funny but also immensely touching in places, this is another triumph for Gill Sims.
