With thanks to Netgalley for a free Kindle edition of this title.
The book revolves around Ellen and get family, her husband and two teenage children,Peter and Jane..and dog Judgy. Ellen is going through a difficult time with her husband and has resorted to councilling. We watch the story unfold in true Gill Sims style.

I've previously read the last two books and although they were funny I wasn't too fond of the name dropping and found some of it a little pretentious. However, I really enjoyed this book but it's definitely not for those easily offended and it lost a star because there was just too much vomit and poo stories for me. I understand some people find that funny but not me! Oh and also because the author made me sit in the bathroom and cry my eyes out one night after reading part of the book! There are some very funny laugh out loud bits though. The lasagne really resounded with me!! Ha.

A bit of light entertainment, not for the easily offended but great for people living in the real world. I didn't laugh out loud but it did keep me amused from beginning to end.

My thanks to HarperCollins U.K. for an eARC via NetGalley of Gill Sims’ latest ‘Why Mummy Doesn’t Give a ****’ in exchange for an honest review.

I have found both of Sims’ ‘Why Mummy...’ books hilarious and so was very pleased when HarperCollins invited me to read this in advance.

I was a little surprised by the seriousness of the opening which reveals that Mummy (Ellen) and husband Simon are separating and planning to divorce. So now Mummy is struggling with being a single mother to her former precious moppets who have now morphed into surly adolescents.

Still once she has moved into her dream home of a quaint cottage with roses around the door (with thorns), obtained three hens (Oxo, Paxo, and Bisto) as well as Barry, a rescue dog to join her Border Terrier, Judgy Dog, her distinctive snarky voice returns.

When reading in a cafe I was having trouble not laughing out loud at the sheer absurdity of the situations that Ellen gets herself into. Her accompanying Jane to a music festival was comedy gold.

Certainly this lived up to the others in the series though its themes including the breakdown of a marriage and bereavement meant that it felt a bit more serious. Readers who are sensitive to explicit language might be offended though I would expect that the title would be indicative that adult humour would be found within.

Overall I recommend it and the series highly.

I adore these books and this one is no exception. It made me howl with laughter and although I don't yet have a teenager I do have a six year old who's goal in life seems to be to see how much he can annoy me everyday before smiling sweetly and telling me he loves me. It's nice to know you're not alone and not everyone is a 'perfect yummy mummy' but still, hats off to those who are!

I have followed 'Peter and Jane' on social media for years but hadn't read Gill's previous books. When I saw this was available on NetGalley I decided to give it a go. I wasn't disappointed, in fact, I couldn't have read it at a better time as the teenagers in my life have been driving me batshit crazy for the last few weeks. Not only did I laugh out loud but I thanked the heavens that I wasn't alone – talking to my animals and wanting to run away severalty thousand times a day! Gill says it how it is and I won't hesitate to read anything else she writes. Cheers!

I first heard about Gill Sims from her hilarious Facebook posts, and this book was just the entertaining read I'd been expecting and had me laughing out loud the whole time. Succeeding in capturing the experience of having teenagers this book delivers relatable, slice-of-life content that I couldn't put down. I would highly recommend this book for anyone who has or knows teenagers or to anyone looking for a hilarious book.

Thank you to HarperCollins UK and to NetGalley for providing an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Another hilarious Mummy book from Gill Sims. As a mother of two young girls I’m dreading the teenage years, but these books are preparing me for the cruel and bitter future that lies ahead!!
This book follows the demise and eventual divorce of Simon, while also focusing on the impact on Peter and Jane. Mummy also finds a new boyfriend, the vet, Jack. She also adopts a new dog who grows to the size of a small cow - genius!
Great read, loved every page!!

An enjoyable read which raised some smiles. Initially I found it a bit difficult to get into not knowing characters or backstory, and it felt a bit like short blog pieces rather than a story itself, but the narrative soon settled and the story grew on me.

Ellen is back and it's another year but this time she's dealing with the fallout of Simon cheating, her kids growing older and life. Maybe this is the year it all comes together perfectly or maybe not.

Oh I love these books so much. This is the third installment and it's just as good as the first two. It deals with some pretty heavy stuff this time but its still filled with the funny, real moments we all love. I think most of us can relate to at least parts of this. I know I'm dreading the teenage years with my children. I love how real it is and it's not glamourised or glossed over. It's so raw and true. A must read and one of my favourites this year

I love Ellen so much. I wish I had half her confidence. I can relate in so many ways to her troubles especially with her dad. That hit home hard but it was honest and i loved that.

I am a huge fan of this series as I am a mum I can totally relate to so much going on in this book. I felt like I was right with the mummy through the story. There are so many laugh out loud moments and the whole story is just great fun. I love the way the author has written this book it is perfect and really keeps your attention. I really didn’t want this to end but I cannot wait for the next book by this author because I just know it will be fantastic. One of the easiest books to read..amazing!

This is the third book featuring Ellen, her husband Simon and their offspring Peter (13) and Jane (15). While the first book looked at the children’s primary school years and the second explored PTA and playground politics this one now features both the breakdown of Ellen and Simon’s marriage (after one of his business trips ended up with an affair in Madrid) and the dreaded teenage years. So, in many ways, rather more serious stuff but still delivered with Sims’ usual humour, energy and weapons-grade swearing. Ellen moves to a more villagey setting (hoping for a perfect cottage, chatty chickens and, possibly, a hunky farmer) but discovers that she now has to deal with last buses home from town, unexplained damp patches and mutinous teenagers. All without Simon’s, admittedly rather rubbish, help. Ellen also seems to move beyond just what can appear quite shallow – Instagrammable moments, having the perfect countryside outfit or making Simon jealous – to real problems and the loss of a very close family member does lead her to look again at her priorities. Through most of the book she refers to herself as ‘Mummy’ but, by the end of the book, she allows herself to be Ellen as well as just ‘Mummy’.

This is a light-hearted, big-hearted read for fans of Jilly Cooper and Marian Keyes who want to see characters explore love for their friends and families as well as for themselves.

I found this a more grown up book than the previous two books. Ellen is facing tough times with teenage children and the possibility that her marriage cannot be saved. Moving to the country does not bring the good life she is hoping for. A funny laugh out loud and giggle to yourself pleasure to read which I would thoroughly recommend as a summer read.

Having read ‘Why Mummy Drinks’ and ‘Why Mummy Swears, as well as enjoying the ‘Peter and Jane’ blog, I was really looking forward to reading the next episode.

It can be read as a standalone, but it helps if you’ve read the previous books or the blog so that you know who’s who and what’s going on.

Once again, Gill has produced a laugh-out-loud winner, and it was a great read. I suspect that this might be the last in the series, seeing that the children have now reached their teens, but perhaps Gill might return as a granny getting her own back on her kids?!

Enjoyable, addictive, and highly recommended!

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for an advance reader copy in return for an honest review.

This is the third book in the Why Mummy Series that I have read and this is by far the best one in my opinion.
This book sees Ellen splitting from Simon and buying a new home for her and her children and all the joys that come with adolescent kids.
This really did make me laugh out loud in places and was so relatable. From memories of More magazine and their advice on sex to bodies with the poppers at the crutch there were things I could relate to from my younger days and having a teenager myself I could definitely identify with having to satisfy the appetite of a teenage boy.
Phrases like ‘they were like demented budgies, wittering incessantly about it, I thought you’d started feeding them trill’ were brilliant.
It was great to have all the crew back in this book with Hannah pregnant again and not loving any minute of it.
They were some poignant moments in this book too and I felt the balance was perfect and I found it great how the chapters were dated so you could get a feel for the timescale of when things happen.
Beware some of the language is crude so not for anyone easily offended by this but a fun, easy read that I would highly recommend.
Thanks to Harper Collins and Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion, which is completely my own.

Gill Sims continues her humour with teenagers. You don't have to have read the previous two books but it would help a little. I do also think that you need to be a fan of her blog / work to really enjoy this. That's not to say if 'Why Mummy....' is completely new to you, you should swerve, far from it but without the background knowledge you'll always feel as though you just walked in halfway through the joke.

Ellen is back with a year full of surprises and troubles. Her children are now two moody teenagers. Jane is fifteen years old and, like many girls that age, is embarrassed by her mother and she spends most of her time on her cell phone chatting with her friends and going to parties. Her son Peter is thirteen years old and his days are divided between playing video games and eating all the food he can find in the kitchen (although I loved how sensitive he could be). Her husband Simon is no help at all and their marriage is far from happy. Add a full time job, three chatty chickens that are chatty only in name, and two dogs that don’t get along. Somehow, Ellen has it all under control. Or almost…

Once again, the author managed to make me laugh and keep me completely engrossed in the novel. Her characters, as well as her stories, are very engaging and realistic. Ellen is smart, witty, and honest and readers can relate to her. Dealing with teenagers is exhausting. They are judgemental and whiny. I don’t remember being like that when I was 15 years old. Well, our cell phones did the basic calls and texts, social media was just at the beginning, and we barely wore any make up, but if I ever was as dramatic and sarcastic as Jane I need to apologize to my mother. In my eyes, Ellen is supermom as she endures the many and incessant demands of her self-centred family and it’s no surprise if she loses her patience and she drinks a lot of wine.

If you have read Why Mummy Drinks and Why Mummy Swears, you are going to love this third book. If you haven’t read them, what are you waiting for? They are hilarious and addictive and WHY MUMMY DOESN’T GIVE A ****! is a superb addition to this irresistible series!

I follow the author’s Facebook blog and have read her other books so was already a fan. I do think this book is her best yet - maybe because I have teenagers. I laughed out loud, thank you so much for the advance copy.

Gill Sims never fails to deliver with the Why Mummy series! Each book so far has had me bouncing through the emotional spectrum from laughing out loud to crying on trains and this next chapter has truly followed suit! Every element of these are so true to life but so much funnier than the reality!!

If you do nothing else today, then read this series!!!
