This wasn't one of my favourite Mills and Boon books. Unlike most Mills and Boon, I found the characters in this book quite flat and hard to relate too. Diego was so tortured - a fact that we were reminded of many times throughout, and seemed to be a bit of a cliché while Lilliana was too goody goody and a bit uninteresting. It felt quite repetitive and just didn't really seem to go anywhere. There was mention of the 'banter' that the two had between them, but I would have loved to have been witness to some of this banter. I think this could have injected some personality into the characters, and rounded them out some more.
I enjoyed this book - it has the ingredients one expects from a Mills and Boon romance. Heat. Passion. Emotion.
Thank you to Mills and Boon Insiders and to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Diego stole his brother's bride-to-be to prevent him from getting his hand on the promised inheritance He kidnapped Liliana in the middle of the night but ended up falling in love with her, I read this book in a day and i did not want it to end.
As marriages of conveniences go, Diego kidnaps the fiance of her brother Matias and takes her to a private island. He needs a wife in order to inherit the ranch and destroy it. He is attracted to the virginal Liliana but knows that he is not capable of love and will “ruin” her with his touch. All he wants is to possess her.
Liliana has been smitten with Diego for a very long so when he kidnaps her she is conflicted between wanting freedom and wanting to be with him, and most of all, wants to please her father, the only constant in her life – that until Diego proves to her that her father is not who she thinks he is.
The story is hot and steamy, plenty of scenes of sexual enlightenment for virginal Liliana and I enjoyed their dynamics, Liliana holding her own more often than not. Sometimes I didn’t know how to feel about certain scenes which did not sit all that well with me and it took me some time to move past the premise that he kidnapped her and forced her hand into becoming his wife. I liked that Liliana still tried to make the best out of her situation and take control over her life to the best of her abilities when she did not have experience of being an independent woman; all her life she has been closeted under her father’s influence.
Diego has had a traumatic past which skewed his sense of right and wrong and everything he does is for his benefit and not for others. He admitted not knowing what love is or what it would feel like. At times, there are honest truths in his words, things that Liliana cannot understand or see blinded by her own desires and wishes, so this aspect of the story was very well done. I really enjoyed the dynamic between the two past the initial stages when I was still a bit iffy about the whole kidnapping thing and not being ok with that.
Overall, I did enjoy this story and gave it 3.5 stars; would’ve given it more but the kidnapping scenes and a few others did not sit that well with me, but the writing and the characters were really good, and the ending was perfect for the both of them.💖

Wow. Once again Maisie has triumphed in this searingly honest and painful tale of the brother, Diego, who steals his brother’s bride. As always Maisie’s development of her characters is incredible. I had a job to put this book down. I highly recommend it!
I absolutely love reading Mills & Boon books so i was excited to read this one !
Read it in one sitting.
Really really loved this book !
Mills & Boon have the best romance books ever !
The Spaniard’s Stolen Bride is the the second novel in Maisey Yates’ M&B mini series, Innocent brides. I reviewed the first novel here.
Liliana Hart is briefly mentioned in the first instalment as she is Matius’ fiancée. She is kidnapped by his brother, Diego, to prevent the marriage and Mattias taking the inheritance. Haunted by his mother’s death, abuse from his father and the death of his pregnant wife, Diego Navarro is not the traditional M&B Hero. He is bitter, vengeful and doesn’t care who he hurts. Liliana, however, is quiet and thoughtful who goes willingly with Diego when he kidnaps and marries her in order to secure his inheritance. Liliana helps Diego work through the bitterness and pain that has shaped his life, whilst Diego shows his wife that she does not need to keep seeking her father’s approval. She only agreed to marry Mattias as her father wanted her to and she felt, as always, that she had to make up for her mother dying in childbirth with her. The novel follows these characters as they fall in love and overcome these issues.
I enjoyed this book. It is interesting that although Maisey Yates is a prolific M&B and romance author, she still can find a new slant or storyline that moves away from the enjoyable but sometimes formulaic storylines. This novel is steamy in terms of romance but also thoughtful when dealing with the characters’ issues, showing how their characters are shaped and for the most part improved upon as the pair grow closer. They certainly deserve a HEA!

A hot, emotionally charged, romantic story, of recognising deep passionate love, from the emotional lackings in negative examples of family love and relationships.
The maturity of adulthood, bringing wiser understanding and happiness, with the true love that is found there.

I enjoyed reading Cam and Matius' story in 'The Spaniard's Untouched Bride', and I was interested to see what happens to Liliana, Matius' Fiancee when she is kidnapped by his dark and dangerous brother Diego. Definitely an anti-hero Diego damaged by his father's abuse, and haunted by the loss of his mother and pregnant first wife seeks only to cause destruction and hurt.
It seems he will stop at nothing to gain his Grandfather's legacy, especially if it hurts his brother Matius, 'the good one'. Kidnapping Liliana, Matius' fiancee appears to be one more destructive act but his reasons are deeper than to gain his inheritance and hurt his brother, but is he prepared to explore what these reasons really mean?
Diego and Liliana's romance is a learning curve for both of them. There is a strong sexual attraction, but this is underscored with emotional need, as they both discover through much angst and pain what love really is. Liliana and Diego's characters are flawed and realistic and their emotional journey fraught with conflict and self-realisation.,
Fast-paced and passionate this romantic story is an absorbing read, with a particularly poignant ending.

The Spaniard’s Stolen Bride, 5 Stars 🌟
Liliana Hart has spent her life trying to be the perfect daughter, as she feels she owes it to her father for surviving her mother's passing in childbirth; which is why she has agreed to marry Matias, a man who has his own agenda and whom her father wishes to do business with. However, since her first meeting with Diego (Matias's brother), they have shared an intense unbreakable bond.
Diego Navarro believes there is a darkness inside him, that he is not a good man, he is selfish and vain and lives by his own rules, that is until he meets Liliana; something about her innocence and light draws him in, but Liliana is getting married to Diego's Brother, Matias! Diego's solution, kidnap Liliana, however to his surprise Liliana comes willingly. Can Liliana show Diego that the intense bond between them is strong enough to chase away the darkness and they can live a deserved HEA!
The Spaniard's Stolen Bride is the follow up to Matias's and Camilla's story, The Spaniard's Untouched Bride; although you can read each book as a standalone in their own right, for the maximum benefit I recommend reading Matias story first. Having read book one, I was really looking forward to Diego and Liliana’s story and I am pleased to say Ms Maisey Yates doesn’t disappoint. Once again Ms Maisey Yates has written another outstanding story and I would highly recommend both this series and Ms Maisey Yates books in general.
I received my copy from Netgalley and Mills and Boon via Mills and Boon Insiders, but this does not influence my opinions as all opinions are my own.
What I particularly like about the Mills and Boon Modern collection is that the newish style of covers all look nearly the same, but with many different stories. I wouldn't want anyone who has never read a Modern book by Mils and Boon to think that all the stories are the same because they are not. Each author brings there own voice to the characters. Here in The Spaniard's Stolen Bride, we have a bad character named Diego Navarro and I for one love reading about a bad man. I despised his unruly behaviour. Diego was bad from a young boy, breaking his toys, he even burned down his fathers shop. I wondered as reading on just how bad can Diego Navarro get. Well he will do anything to get his own way even kidnapping Liliana Hart, why he kidnapped Liliana is something I'm not going to tell you. Maisey Yates is one of my favourite authors and I would love all you readers to explore some of her titles of books..
