Very good plot, keeps you interested. I liked the mannerism the book has been written in. Approachable language and style. Well defined characters. Strong 5 stars.
Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.
This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.
It was a solid read, and I would like to see the police woman in future series. Book kept you reading until the end, and nothing seemed as it were. Recommended.
Omg......... this book was amazing I flew threw the pages with Olympic speed I was hooked from the very first page. I found it full of twists and turns threw out and it kept me on the edge of my seat all the way threw I would defiantly recommend this book if you like a good book to keep you reading threw the night hopefully you enjoy it as much as I did
I really enjoyed this psychological thriller in which an experienced nurse, Emily, seeks her much-loved, missing sister, Zoe. She feels alone in her quest. Even those whom she trusted most gradually start to believe that her obsession with finding Zoe is turning her mind. Even Emily wonders if she is hallucinating.
Zoe is not the only missing person. ;-)
I’ll Find You is another pacy, clever psychological thriller from Liz Lawler, a great follow up to her first book Don’t Wake Up.
Struggled to finish this book, It wasn’t a book that I enjoyed and unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend it.
Gave up on this book at 71% I was determined to stick with it but couldn’t, found it was too medical, repetitive and weak characters, just couldn’t bond with it at all, sorry
The start of this book was about a young girl having a dream where she was climbing into a morgue fridge to try a find a person that is known to be missing. Emily jolts awake to see she it was a dream she was re-living. Emily is a nurse who has started a new job at a private hospital after being on sick for a year when her sister went missing after a night out. Emily did everything she possibly could to track down and find her sister. After so long Emily needed to start getting herself back to normal to help with her mental health but still be able to look for her sister in her spare time.
Emily went into hospital for a normal routine operation to remove a lump from her breast. After he operation Emily awoke in the middle of the night with the sound of the patient in the bed beside her being resuscitated. The clear picture of seeing this resulted in someone shining a torch in her face and being injected with something to make her fall asleep. When she awakes in the morning Emily sees the bed next to her was empty and made up, she decides to ask the nurses about the young girl next to her to see if she has survived. But they say no one has been in the bed next to her and told Emily she had a nightmare in the middle of the night. Was Emily imagining things and she did actually have a nightmare or was it real?
The story follows Emily as she is trying to work out who the young girl was and if she really imagined her. Emily needs to prove what has happened to show that she isn't lying and that it did really happen. When Emily gets home one day she finds a note in her spare room telling Emily to stop looking for Zoe as she doesn't want to be found but this just pushes her forward to try and find her missing sister.
Zoe goes back to the police to show the note see has received. But when the police look into the case to see how the note got there, it looks like Emily is telling lies and making things up. Emily's metal health is being questioned again, and other things are happening what make her look like she isn't coping. Will Emily sort everything out and prove she telling the truth and things aren't all what they seem to be in the private hospital.
I really enjoyed this book and I wasn't ready for what happened at the end of the book and how everything linked together at the end. At the start of the book I was a little confused about the dream and how that linked with the rest of the story. But the connecting dots all came together and I understood why the Author wrote it the way she did. Within the story there was a lot of medical terminology but the Author added information you needed to know for the story to work and it wasn't too much. But I did enjoy learning some new about the medical profession and what goes on, on a day to day basis. The characters was very likeable and you can see each personality and how they would react in different situations. I would recommend this book if you want an ending with a twist you would have never seen.
Couldn't put this book down. So many twists and turns and I spent most of the book wondering who to trust .. who was reliable and was Emily living in reality or fantasy? Can't wait for more from Liz Lawler!
I've spent a lot of time in various hospitals, both as a patient and as a nurse (albeit a student!), so the premise of I'll Find You both intrigued and scared the pants off me! I was also exposed to both the book and movie version of Coma by Robin Cook at a very young age so how I ever ended up training as a nurse I'll never know...
Emily Jacobs is a nurse, a nurse with a troubled past. A year previous to the story's opening, Emily's younger sister, Zoe, went missing and has never been found. The two have always been close, despite a ten year age gap, and at the time of her disappearance, Zoe was also training to be a nurse. Now Emily is in hospital for minor surgery at her new place of work, a private hospital with no memories of her sister. What follows is a rollercoaster and nightmare rolled into one and Emily, already seeing a psychologist, starts to wonder if she is losing her mind, especially when she starts to think she's seeing Zoe again.
The hospital no longer feels like the haven Emily thought it might be and contacts the detective inspector from her sister's case. Geraldine has become close to Emily since meeting her, and at first, is convinced that it's Emily's mental health causing all the problems. However, when the signs point to something truly sinister, it's time for her to start looking into Emily's claims.
No longer sure who she can trust or who she can even talk to about what's going on, Emily digs deeper into behind the scenes of the hospital and staff in the hopes that whatever is happening might just be linked to Zoe and she can finally find out what has happened to her beloved sister.
I'll Find You is full of twists and turns, as Emily lurches from one theory to another, but it keeps you on your toes from start to finish with some truly horrifying moments. If you have any inpatient stays planned soon I'd maybe not take I'll Find You as a hospital read, or if you have even a slight phobia about being locked in a hospital morgue... I very much enjoyed I'll Find You from start to finish, and the discovery of the truth of both Zoe's disappearance and what's going on elsewhere was heartbreaking and tragic. It's scary to realize that a throwaway comment by one person can turn into a terrifying and deadly obsession.
The opening chapter is quite gripping. We learn that Emily’s sister Zoe disappeared over a year ago and Emily is still searching for her. She is seeing a therapist as it has affected her mental health. While recovering from an operation, in the night Emily believed that there was another girl in the room who was being resuscitated. The next day when asking the staff if the girl was alright everyone denied that there has been anybody there. Emily thinks there is something that they are covering up especially since the last time Zoe was seen alive was at the hospital. I enjoyed the first half of the book but thought the plot then became a little far fetched. A disappointing read for me.
Thanks to NetGalley and Zaffre for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
Thanks again to NetGalley and the Publishers for providing me with a Kindle version of this book to read and honestly review, also for introducing me to an exciting new author to me at any rate.
This is a very entertaining well written and gripping page turner, which grabbed my interest from beginning to end. There are some seriously tense and gut wrenching set piece scenes. Totally believable quality characters that leap off the page, so much so that I could not help but be disgusted by our heroine's horrible and ungrateful Mother, so much so she made my skin crawl. There are several twists and turns, and you know how when reading a book you get a feeling for how it would end, well I was wrong and surprised on many counts, and in some ways disappointed by the slightly contrived ending.
Nevertheless i heartily recommend this quality read.
Amazing thriller. I was gripped from the very first page and it didn’t let go. Dark and creepy and highly recommend xx
If medical thrillers are your thing, this is a fun holiday read that will keep you entertained over a few days. I found it a quick read, but I'll be honest, mostly so that I could finish the book and start something else (sorry!)
I didn't find Emily engaging as a character and her colleagues just confused me. Their actions and reactions were designed to move the plot along and were entirely inconsistent. In-fact, the plot itself was head scratching, paper thin and driven by a series of implausible coincidences, many of which seemed to trail off into nothing (The lady in the leather jacket for one). Maybe this was to muddy the waters as the reader tries to work out if a crime has been committed or whether Emily is suffering as a result of her mental health, but it just didn't work for me.
As the book draws to a close we do find out what happened to Zoe (the missing sister). It all fell a bit flat for me and entirely unbelievable.
My thanks go to the publishers and Net Galley for the copy in return for an honest review.
A quick read but that may be because I did skim read some of the more repetitive parts. Not realistic in parts with the character of Emily a nurse somewhat changing to fit the plot. I can’t imagine a dedicated nurse behaving the way she did in certain parts.
The scene in the first chapter is unthinkable but...it makes for interesting reading. When her sister, Zoe goes missing from the hospital where Emily is a nurse she promises herself she will find her, but when another patient goes missing when Emily is also a patient the plot gets very much deeper. Emily is determined to find out what is going on and the hunt for her beloved sister continues. The premise of this novel is pretty unique and I'm sure not for everyone, but I enjoyed it. Lots of twists and turns here and a plot to keep you guessing.
Sadly then, this book didn’t work for me but it hasn’t put me off reading something else by this author in the future.
I was really looking forward to reading this book as I loved this author’s first book. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with this one. I struggled with the characters and found the plot very far fetched.
Don’t plan an early night. You will want to stay up and finish this fast paced books, but be warned you will be on the edge of your seat. Brilliant book.
