I really enjoyed the first two Lightning books, so I was looking forward to this one. All three are well written and exciting to follow. The second and third books both had a stalker storyline, and both books place Syd and Parker in peril. I was able to determine the bad guy but there was a surprising twist. If you're a fan of the Lightning series you won't want to miss this.

Unexpected Lightning is the 3rd book in the Lightning series. Sydney Hyatt and Parker Duncan are again the stars of the story. They are great characters, with good chemistry together, and their story through the series has been very good. Reading the previous books added to my enjoyment of this one, and if wlw romantic thrillers are your cup of tea, I recommend those.
Without repeating the blurb, this book is well-written, great starring and supporting characters, chemistry and romance, danger and thrills, and an unexpected twist.
For me, some parts of the story seemed rushed and other bits dragged a little, but overall, I enjoyed reading this one. I look forward to seeing what Cass Sellars comes up with next.

A mystery-thriller with lots and lots of great sex. What’s there not to like?

Sydney Hyatt and Parker Duncan are in an extremely loving and super-sexed up relationship for a couple of years. Their life is often subject to drama created by external circumstances. And drama enters now in form of notes left for Parker, claiming ownership on her and condemning her lifestyle choices and partner. As Syd and their friend Lieutenant Mack try to find the stalker, the tone of the notes changes to threatening Syd.

The storyline is interesting, the suspense holds till the end. In fact, the author throws in a totally unexpected googly towards the end. All the relationships: Syd/Parker; Mack/Jenny; the four of them together; are very well drawn.

This one will liven up an otherwise slow day.

While this is part of a series, the book can be read alone. I will be reading the earlier book to better understand some references in this nook.

Strong characters with a tightly created plot.

In a tightly knit group of friends the plot twists and turns as to WHO is the intended victim AND WHO is the villian is totally unexpected.

Third book in the Lightening series. Four women, a child, and a dangerous stranger. Parker Duncan, strong personality, excellent worker, and in love with Sydney. Sydney Hyatt, strong personality, protective, creative worker, and in love with Parker. Parker and Sydney are in love and they show it to each other in sexy ways. They will need each other and friends to deal with the threat. The read dragged at times and was a bit repetitive. I like mysteries and this was a good one. There were several possibilities that floated which kept me interested. Mack and Jenny were wonderful characters as well as their little girl. In general, interesting read with interesting characters.

Hot romance/mystery.
This is the 3rd book in the "lightning " series and the 1st one I have read. It was so good, I will be seeking books 1 and 2 immediately. Even though this story can stand alone, there were enough hints dropped about what I missed in the previous books, to make me curious. The 5 1/2 main characters (there's a baby) are very colorful and likeable. And I want to know more about them and how they all met.
Regarding this story, I was very engaged in the hot romance, the creepy stalker and the constant feel of danger. Who's car were you driving, is that door locked, you left your phone at home...oh no.! I was on the edge of my seat many times worrying about the safety of a character. The investigation and suspect interviews moved the mystery along nicely. But I was a bit disappointed in the ending. It was good and made sense but the last scene sort of went on too long and too predictable. I guess I was spoiled by the scariness of the story leading up to the end.
Good full story, I recommend it.

I enjoyed this book much better than the first book in the series, [book:Lightning Strikes|31213084], mostly because the mystery was much better developed and felt more realistic. There was a nice little twist in the end that surprised me, even if my list of suspects did include the eventual perpetrator.

With Syd and Parker firmly into their relationship, and support from their friends Mia, Jen and Mack as solid as ever, things are starting to look up for them. That is, until someone keeps leaving gifts at Syd and Parker's door. Syd's overprotective nature rears its ugly head as the "gifts" become more and more sinister. Syd and Parker must navigate through their differences and another dangerous stalker.

Revisiting a stalker storyline in the third book of a series just feels a little too soon for me. It does create a lot of tension, as Parker and Syd must deal with their personalities clashing on top of the stalker, but it just feels a little too rehashed. It is interesting to look at what a stalker can do if the victim is part of an established pair, and I think that's what boosted up the rating for me. That, and that the stalker felt more real, less like a cartoon villain that Becky, from the first book, felt like. That ratcheted up the menace, and there were some parts where I felt for the characters.

I do admit to not reading the second book, and there are some spoilers to that book here, but it really isn't necessary to read the second book to get into this one. I would recommend reading the first, as it does a great job in establishing its characters, despite Becky. Syd, Parker, Jen, and Mack are great characters, but I do think they've had enough. These couples have been through the ringer in the last three books, I think they're due for a vacation.

3.25 Stars. This was the third book in the Lightning Series. I thought the book was a little better than okay, but I do have to admit it was my least favorite of all three. Could you read this one without reading the others? Yes, technically you could. However, I would personally recommend at least reading book one first. While this book is about two couple who are good friends, they are already established couples. If you read book one, you will at least get to follow the romance, of the main couple, from when they first met.

This book went at a pretty good pace and ended up being a quick read for me. I found the book kept my attention and I was entertained. These are romances with a little suspense thrown in. The problem is I felt that this book seemed a little been there done that. Parker and Sydney have had to face a “crazy” person already. It’s like how much can this couple go through?!

The little mystery of who the bad guy/girl was pretty easy to figure out. I had my suspect early and was beating my head a little that it took the police and a private investigator so long to figure out. However, there was more to the story than I originally though and I have to applaud Sellars for getting one over on me.

The romance was good but again this was about established couples already. I personally enjoyed seeing where the couples are now. For a new reader, it might not be as much fun. Syd and Park still have good chemistry so that part was nice.

If you are a fan of this series, I think this book is worth reading. If you are new to the series, I think it’s better to start at book one and see what you think before reading this. I’m looking forward to Sellars starting a new series or standalone book. I was glad to read more of Syd and Parker but I want to see what else Sellars has in store for us.

I can’t help but feel a little disappointed by this third instalment in the 'Lightning' series. I read the first one a few days ago and thoroughly enjoyed it but decided to skip the second. I don’t think it would have made much of difference to my enjoyment of this one but I think I may have preferred it to this one by the sounds of it. However, this is a good read, with a reasonable pace and two likeable couples.

Sydney Hyatt and Parker Duncan have been together for two years and are still going strong. Until Parker starts getting creepy letters and it isn’t long before they escalate to threatening. I think my disappointment stems from the story line being a little too similar to the first book except that in ‘Lightning Strikes’ there was a new relationship, a whole host of new characters to get to know, parental tension and a crazy stalker.

Sydney’s over-protective, overbearing demeanour wore a little thin and their relationship tension needed to be about a little more than just this. The character playing field was reduced down to Sydney, Parker, Jenny, Mack and Olivia with really small appearances from everyone else. While I don’t think I would read any more in this particular series, I would happily read more by Sellars because I do enjoy the way she writes.

'Unexpected Lightning' is the 3rd book in the 'Lightning' series. I did not read the first two prior to this one and there was no need to. The author successfully referenced previous things with enough explanation to understand what was going on. So this can be read as a standalone.

The story revolves around a group of friends. Two existing f/f couples (Sydney/Parker and Mack/Jenny) and another woman (Mia) who had lost her girlfriend during a harrowing incident that happened in a previous installment.

Jenny begins to receive threatening letters from a stalker and then Syd and Mack work to unravel clues that will lead them to the person behind them.

It was refreshing to read a book that had already established couples. Both were so in love, sweet, and sexy with their respective loved ones.

I found myself trying very hard to play detective and figure out what was going on. And I never did. So I would say that this wasn't predicable.

The letters were described as bad and juvenile poetry, but I was actually impressed with the creativity! It kind of reminded me how the movie 'A Mighty Wind' was supposed to be a comedy/parody but it just didn't work out because the cast all seriously sang too well. Not to say the letters didn't work in this book... Just pointing out the poetry wasn't that bad!

The pacing dragged a bit toward the middle. But then skyrocketed at 70%. When I thought something was going down, it wasn't. When I thought nothing was going down, it was. Then things started getting revealed and I was seriously impressed that my own detective work had failed.

Two things I didn't care for. One, I didn't like Parker referring to Syd as 'Love' so often. Just a personal preference thing. And two, I wish I would have felt more danger.

I really enjoyed this. The writing was great. Loved the characters. The cute banter between between all of them was consistent throughout. There were several hot scenes that were executed well.

Check this one out if you are into cute relationships, stalkers, love letters, interrogations, butches, sex in Porsches, homo resources, and playing detective.

This was the next book in the Lightning series. It revolved around the lives of Sydney and Parker, but also Lieutenant Mack Foster and her wife Jenny. The foursome’s lives were interrupted by a dangerous stalker who wrecked havoc on their daily lives by leaving threatening possessive poems on their cars and place of residence. Similar to the previous book, Unexpected Lightning was a fast read and very entertaining. Even though the stalker and his intended target were easy to figure out, the author still managed to engage the reader throughout the story with her likable characters and their playful banter…when their lives were not threatened.

I was especially pleased by how the author managed the consequences of the kiss between one of the foursome and a person that was not their partner. This kiss-the guilt and embarrassment that followed-was handled with humor, heartfelt emotions and most importantly, intelligence by the parties involved. It was very well written and only added to the characters’ likability and maturity level when faced with unexpected situations. I often find authors turn to unnecessary angst when developing such a situation, but this author did not belittle her characters’ intelligence or level of trust already established.
Overall, this was a great read and the entire series is highly recommended.

This is the third book in the Lightning series. After reading this I am desperate for a fourth. They are all excellent thrillers. They also have crazy hot intimate scenes and lots of romance. I've read lots of lesfic, thrillers, romances, mysteries, etc. This series is one of the few that includes all three in a well balanced format. This book is a MUST read!

I love it!!!!

Parker and Syd are still going strong as they deal with unwanted attention from unknown source.

As they continue to built there life together someone does want them together as the notes and threats keep escalating Syd is at her wit end in what to do as Parker is piss that their life can't be happy and safe. There is a twist about who the stalker is and who that person is really stalking.

I can't wait for the next book because they introduce a new character that might get involved with another character in this book.
