Yes there really are 125 kind things to say and do in this book and if everyone did them the world would automatically be a better place. Despite the fact that people say "kindness costs you nothing" or words to that effect, it actually does cost. If it didn't, everyone would be doing it. It takes an effort. It takes thought. It takes time. Sometimes it costs money or personal possessions. But the thing is that it rewards, too, and it has a 'knock-on' effect, so it not only gives a return, it adds interest.
This book has the advantage of offering scores of ideas that really don't take much effort, or much thought. They don't cost money. They really don't eat up too much time. They're easy to think of, to remember, and to do, and it was not only fun to read them, it will be fun to do them. I commend this positive book.
Such a cute book! I loved the different ways to spread kindness and love. I think it’s an important message for children to learn. The illustrations were adorable as well. An absolute gem.
This sweet book is full of tips for simple acts of kindness and inclusivity, plus crafts and other activities. Great for elementary age students!

From the cover page to the last page I loved this book and the message that came across. Some of the ways of kindness described in this book were new and different such as making a "no sew" pillow and a sock toy for your dog and cat. Also, I love the relevancy of kindness by incorporating social media safety into this book and talks about the ways on how to react properly from photos shared on your Facebook, Instagram and Twitter page. EVERYONE should own this book no matter the age no matter the grade level.
We will definitely consider adding this book into our JPICBK collection at the library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.
This children’s book with ideas for acts of kindness is a little gem. The illustrations are beautiful, the suggestions simple but effective, and the presentation is very accessible for young children. A heart-warming book!
What a lovely book for children. These days we often struggle to be kind to each other and this is a super starting point as a way of talking to children about random acts of kindness. As a teacher I would definitely have a copy of this in my classroom. You can read it to the children and then have it on the library shelf for them to dip in and out of. I love it!
Be Kind is a new release from author Naomi Shulman that provides young people with ideas on ways to show kindness to their peers, community, and nature.
Acts of kindness range from listing ways kids can be inclusive to all individuals in their personal relationships to picking up trash in their neighborhood. There is no shortage of ideas that children can learn how to incorporate into their daily life to make the world a kinder place one act at a time.
A cute book with simple illustrations. Some of the ideas were a bit advanced for a young child. The overarching message of kindness is great for children to learn at a young age. Thanks Netgalley for the preview!
This is a wonderful book. It is written for children, but I think people of all ages would benefit from reading it in this age of contention. It is full of simple and practical ways to spread kindness in the world. The illustrations are bold, colorful, and fun. I will definitely purchase a copy for my kids.
A cute little book with some great ideas. My son loved looking through it. Would have been better as a physical copy as no Colours on kindle and the pages all over the place. A shame but book itself was a good read with nice ideas! My son really enjoyed it and was curious on how he could implement some of the strategies and what he would try!
“There are as many ways to be kind as there are actions. Every act you do can be done kindly. You can complete a chore without waiting to be asked. Or you can lighten up a tense moment with a joke…but don’t limit yourself to these. One of the great things about being kind is that it inspires more kindness. Go ahead and make kindness a habit: It’s one you won’t want to break!”

Oh my gosh, what a sweet book! My son is too young to understand it but loved looking at the vibrant illustrations, and the book gave SO many ideas on easy ways to spread love and kindness. We will absolutely be implementing them as he grows. This would be a very good book to give as a gift to children or their parents.
This is the cutest book ever! I truly loved reading it, and I read it as soon as I could! The pictures accompanying the different acts of kindness makes this a great book for kids. It shows how the smallest acts of kindness are within anyone's reach and how they can be modified to better fit your situation. This will be a great book for any kid and will be a joy for any parent, older sibling or anyone to read to their children! I loved it.
I loved Be Kind! This book is perfect for teaching children about kindness. It has an excellent variety of ways you can complete random acts of kindness to make someone's day, and a lot of them are things children can do on their own with minimal adult support. I am also excited to purchase a copy of this book for my classroom. Not only will it be delightful to read and enjoy the colorful, attention grabbing artwork, the students will love picking some of the random acts of kindness to complete. There are some ways to show kindness that I can easily make into classroom lessons to promote kindness within my students. Wonderful book!

This book can help your kid develop a better personality. And message is clear: Be Kind! Be kind to elders, workers, your neighbours, your friends... These simple things can make the world a better place indeed. Very sweet and very enjoyable read for all age groups.
This is a wonderful book for children...and grown ups! In a world where kindness is sometimes forgotten, this is an ideal reminder for us all.
Schools try to teach kindness and we talk about random acts of kindness and giving at certain times of the year. This book is perfect as it encourages us to be kind all the time, to friends, family, neighbours, strangers. Kindness should be the gift that keeps on giving.
Some of the ideas were excellent and new to us, while others were very familiar and are things we do already. I would buy the paper edition of this book and keep it on permanent display in my library to be looked at and borrowed for anyone.
The illustrations are lovely and suit the style of the book really well.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Storey Publishing through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Be Kind is a book that contains lots of small ideas for children to help them be kind to others, show appreciation to teachers and friends, and to help around the house, etc. It is filled with great ideas and its colourful pages makes it fun for children to keep them entertained.
This is a very educational book and is highly recommended for young kids.
I read Be Kind with my 6 and 8-year-old children. We talk a lot about treating others kindly and this book had so many wonderful and accessible ideas that they could easily add to their daily lives. The illustrations and text were engaging and this was such a positive discussion starter for our family. We will definitely be adding Be Kind to our home library! Thank you to NetGalley and Storey Publishing for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Be Kind by Naomi Shulman has an interesting list type of format, giving kids ideas on how to show kindness to others. The illustrations are cute in a simplest way meaning that they are done without too much busyness to fill the page. Instead the ideas take precedence. The ideas are short one sentence two at the most but convey the attitudes of kindness, thoughtfulness, consideration, thankfulness and helpfulness. They include way to brighter the day for young and older and animals too.
I read the book in several sitting with a preschooler. Not so much because the text was so much but because 125 different ways to show kindness is a lot to take in at one time. The ideas given are not elaborate or difficult to put into practice. However, my very favorite thought is at the beginning when the author suggests that the reader not limit themselves to the ones in the book but to come up with more. What a wonderful idea to intentionally develop the mindset of looking for way to show kindness daily.
I could see a family or a classroom reading one of these ideas a day. When the book is finished then begin again or write their own book by adding new ideas and ways.
This book is a gem! “Be Kind” is a picture book filled with 125 things you can do and say to make the world a happier place. And don’t we all want that, to live in a happier world?
I absolutely love these type of books: books that are positive, encouraging and aiming to teach kids good behaviours. It is even better when they are also this fun! Childhood is so important because that’s when we develop manners and also form our most basic approaches to life. Books like this help guide the younger generation to a better and more positive way of life. This one, paired up with charming illustrations, was just so fun and engaging.
Would highly recommend!
