Dr Patrizia Collard, shows the reader
another way on how to meditate: packed with practical advice, useful meditations and affirming thoughts, this little book teaches you how to be happier, healthier and more relaxed - without sitting for hours on a meditation cushion. With these fun and efficient exercises: just 5 to 10 minutes a day, you can change your outlook and find a meditation to do suit you.
A great little read with some great meditations which will be easier to do and follow the more you read the book, but some lovely meditations all the same. Perfect to start or end your day and a great entry point for beginners to meditation.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy in exchange for an honest review.
This was such an easy little book to flick through and so easy to navigate your way through it. You can pick it up whenever you need it. Everything you need in a book for meditation.
A nice easy to read book on meditation. I have started using but not noticed any significant difference as yet - but I suppose this will take a little time.
I am extremely grateful to have received a digital ARC of this book from NetGalley. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I've tried to meditate in the past, with not much success. This book really helped. I highly recommend it if its your thing!
Following on from the Little Book of Mindfulness this book gives short, easy meditations - particularly useful for novices, like me.
Would be good for teaching others new practices or as an audiobook which would be a better format for someone using it on their own.
Overall I would recommend this as a good starter - particularly using little bits at a time.

Thanks to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in return for a fair review.
A great little book, so good I’ve bought a copy for a friend who also loves it, an ideal handbag book too
I really wanted to like this book, but for me it doesn't deliver.
Firstly, it tries to cover too many bases. Historical and scientific 'facts' are included, but many are debatable at best (claiming that meditation arrived in the UK in the early 20th century casually ignores a millennium of meditation centred in the Christian church), or misstate accepted wisdom (it may seem a small thing, but stating that "meditation slows the ageing of the brain" is misleading when the research is dependent upon DAILY meditation, . What's more, the additions provide no benefit to the explanation or validity of the individual meditations.
Secondly, the included meditation guidance is often complex enough that I found it impossible to complete a meditation without having to repeatedly break away to refer to the book - maybe if I had persevered over weeks or months I may have benefited, but this was not what I was expecting from a 'Little Book ...'. An audio version of the book may overcome this problem, but would need to be structured differently.
I love this book! It is great for sharing some down time with my daughter. It helped me show her how to have still time, to relax and reset, ready for when she starts school and has more stress on her. It is very helpful, and great at sharing the knowledge of meditation.
A lovely book that introduces the reader to many different types of meditation. I think that this would make a wonderful audio book as most of them require you To close your eyes and then continue the various thought processes. To try to remember everything spoilt the meditative state and it would help to hear a soothing voice tell the person meditating the next thought process.
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn to relax in today’s intensive world. This book together with a partner to talk you through the techniques that suit you will gradually enable the thought training to become more natural and you will then not need someone to read to you.
A great resource book.
I wanted to read this book as I was unsure how a book could explain or help me through meditation. Surely you would need something audible in order to have help when mediating?
I really enjoyed the affirmations within the book as this is something I always struggle with coming up with own my own. I also liked the illustrations too - they had a really unique style, and helped break up the different sections making the book feel easier to read.
I also enjoyed the small sections on the theory of meditation - this is something I would like to know a lot more about.
however, the meditations themselves just didn't do it for me. Purely because I wanted to use the ideas from the book, but struggled to do this when actually practising my meditation as it pulled me out of my focus due to having to read, and focus on the book. I think this book would work better in audio book format because of it. (Although you would miss out on the beautiful illustrations)
This little book has really divided me with my opinions. On the one hand I loved the cute layout and illustrations, but on the other I found the meditations being in 'book-form' distracting.
This is the most excellent book I have ever read on the subject. It begins with imagining a garden or refuge like a beach or a forest, there you can retreat to calm. Then it carries on with an excellent explanation of the chakras, the most simple I have ever read. I finally got it, which is the point. It is a wonderful book, and one I shall return to again and again, it is that good. I would recommend it wholeheartedly.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-arc of this book!
I've been doing yoga for some time now and I've sometimes meditated, too. I never made it into a practice though. This book gives some great advice to get started! There are a lot of meditations in this book for different purposes (like relieving stress or becoming more focused).
I think it's great that these meditations aren't very long. When you just start meditating it's difficult enough to sit still for a short time. At least, it was for me!
If you want to start meditating, or need some guidance in your practice, this book is a nice place to start!
A light, helpful book for anyone looking to relax and clear their minds or are interesting in learning more about meditation.
As someone that fights anxiety daily and with not many medical options to try out, meditation is something that I often try to turn to. There are numerous ways of trying to meditate, none right or wrong but it can be daunting when you're told to try out something that you know not much about. This little book is really helpful as it has several different meditations to try out that are adaptable to your day, mood and the time you have available. It also lists various affirmations and mantras to try if you want to give it a go too.
The book releases tomorrow and I have already got it saved in my basket to order the paperback to put on my coffee table for others to read too.
Highly recommend.
