This is a standalone novel by successful author Harlan Coben. I have enjoyed reading this authors books for many a year and love his subtle humour and intriguing plots he weaves, however something in this novel just didn't work for me. I found some of the actions hard to believe and the characters failed to engage me. It wasn't a total disaster and there was still plenty that I enjoyed but for me it fell short on the usual high standard of writing that I have enjoyed previously.

Simon Greene is a financial planner married to Ingrid, a paediatrician and they have three children. His daughter, Paige is a drug addict who ran away from home and he is desperate to have her back in the family. Without retelling the complete plot a murder takes place and all hell lets loose when Simon goes looking for his missing daughter.
Lots of action and fast moving but not his best in my opinion.

Marvellous. One of his best - certainly in the past few years. Unravels too quickly at thr end, and definitely far fetched/ a few plot holes. But gripping throughout, easy to read, lots of fun, so who cares

Fast paced brilliant book from Harlan Coben. I couldn’t put this down once I picked it up, it had me gripped instantly. Some great twists at the end, some I worked out but not all. A great read for anyone who likes crime thrillers.

4.5 stars. Harlan Coben is one of my favourite authors and I always look out for his books. They are all fantastic and this one was no exception. So well written with some brilliant twists and turns. He never disappoints me.

fabulous five star read for me.

You know it’s a great read when you wake up early excited to get back to it & I did with this excellent book.

I really don’t want to say too much about it as it’s such a great story with many twists and turns, but, guessing you’ll want a hint, so, here goes.... people disappear and one is a much loved daughter whose father is determined to find her... an unusual couple are murdering men. This multi layered tale has some fabulous characters that I either hated, loved, laughed with and rooted for.

For those who know this author’s work, it’s another great story. Those who don’t, read this and I’d be surprised if you’re not hooked.

Fast paced, clever plotting, full of interesting characters, I loved every page of the latest Coben novel. The story centers around Simon and Ingrid, desperate parents whose oldest daughter Paige, who used to be a straight A student, becomes a junkie after meeting an older guy Aaron. When Aaron is brutally murdered and Paige goes missing, the parents decide to look for her in some dark corners of New York which unfortunately does not end too well. More people are killed and the seemingly unrelated deaths might have something in common...

This was the ultimate page turner for me! The story is brilliantly thought through, scattering many different bits and pieces of the plot around at first and then very slowly slotting them in like pieces of a puzzle. What I really appreciate is that there are no plotholes in the story, everything is explained in the end and it all makes sense! Harlan Coben, thank god, does not do crazy far-fetched twists, you easily believe everything he's written. Just make sure that nothing and no one disturbs you while you read the last chapters as you won't be able to let go of the book until you reach the end!

This is my seventeenth Harlan Coben novel so I should know the drill by now, it's not that he keep me on the edge of my seat, it's more that I'm in the awkward position where I'm not sitting, or standing, I'm crouching, I'm tense and I'm going to need a massage by the epilogue. 

And for the seventeenth time this is how I've spent the last three days. And it's weird its only three days because i feel like been living with the Greenes for the last six months I was so drawn in. 

Brilliantly developed characters and plot with Cobens usual twist of never knowing where the hell the story line is going next. 

Best book I've read this year, a solid thriller, loved it.

I’m in two minds about this book. It started with a bang and ended with a twisty shock, but the middle didn't live up to the rest of it. IT was fast paced from the start however and I felt for Simon about his druggie daughter. I wasn't sure he seemed that bothered about her sometimes though. Seemed to enjoy the chase and the search more than the wish of finding her.

I did enjoy discovering New York and the surrounding areas however. A very keen sense of place from the off and very symbolic to have him find his daughter on the spot where John Lennons memorial is. The rest of the city comes to live through the search Simon starts for his daughter - there's a Bronx drug den which was an eye opener and visits up to Yonkers and the more shady parts of the city. There was plenty life and breath here.

I think it was Simon that was the problem for me and I'm not sure why exactly. He just didn't seem right and I didn't understand a lot of what he did. I can't say I liked any of the characters and questioned much of their reasoning. Both the druggies and those not taking drugs.

A great beginning and an interesting end but the middle felt flat for me

I was slightly disappointed in this book. It doesn't match up to previous harlen coben books and it was just so convoluted. There was a lot of different storylines and people just thrown in and this was the outcome.

I’m a huge Harlan Coben fan but unfortunately this one didn’t work for me on the whole. It had all the ingredients I needed from him-fast paced storyline, a brilliant twist, great ending and relatable characters but somehow when it all came together it just didn’t thrill me. I loved the opening chapter with its vivid description of Central Park as I had been to the spot he fixated on and I found myself transported back there immediately with the gripping narrative. But then it kind of went downhill till it picked up again near to the end.
Not one of my favourites by a long stretch but I’m sure others will enjoy.

Harlan Coben’s books are always page turners and Run Away is no exception. I raced through it in a couple of days and there were so many twists and turns that it kept me guessing right until the last page.
It is the story of Simon and Ingrid whose daughter, Paige, has become a drug addict with an unsavoury dealer boyfriend called Aaron. Simon is desparate to rescue Paige from the awful life she has ended up living but first he has to find her.
It is also about a series of murders carried out by a hitman and his female sidekick but how do these two strands of the plot link up?
As in all books by this author the key to everything lies in secrets from the characters’ past and as Simon struggles to reclaim his lost daughter,these start to be revealed. However does he really want to find out what happened to her and how it links to his family’s past or will it simply be too shocking?
This is an enjoyable rollercoaster of a read and as in all Coben’s novels it’s difficult to guess how the plot will pan out. I always look forward to reading Harlan Coben’s thrillers and this stand alone is a great addition to his collection of novels.

A real page turner. An enjoyable book as long as you do not think too deeply about the plot and the characters.

This was ok but lacked excitement for me,it plodded along with an occasional glimpse of what I thought it could be.there were some interesting characters but I thought the main character was dull.I wanted to like this more than I did,and hope others do enjoy it more than me.Thanks to netgalley and the publishers for an ARC.

Another great standalone from Harlan Coben. A missing daughter,cults,drug dealing,genetics and murder. Great characters and quite a few twists. My only disappointment was the death of one of the more interesting characters.

Run Away left me with mixed feelings, it's fast paced, full of action and demands your full attention but I just wasn't able to fall in love with this book. The characters are unrealistic, wooden and have no level of depth. Please don't get me started on Simon, he's possible the worst character of any book I've ever read. His use of money was off putting and all I could picture was a small wiry rich man trying to play tough guy.

It just wasn't a winner for me but if you can overlook bad characters the storyline is superb.
