I received a free arc from netgalley but unfortunately I had some compatibility issues. I have since purchased this book myself.
I found this guide to be informative and interesting. It has given me lots of inspiration and motivation to restart projects and definitely to be braver when incorporating more colour into my knitting.
I would recommend this to all knitters who are looking for a little bit more guidance and support for increasing their creativity with their knitting projects.

I find Beginner’s Guide to Colorwork Knitting to be easy to read and very insightful. It shows you how to do the different stitches, along with abbreviations, as well as giving you patterns to work on in both projects and learning a certain pattern to make your own creation with. It gives you tricks to cutting your work without hurting your work. It gives you different textures to work with. The colors are creative and exciting to play with. As a knitter, I enjoy this one.
I received a digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Some nice information about color theory and techniques, but I was really hoping for a more thorough manual on knitting with color, especially Fair Isle or Intarsia colorwork. I picked up this title thinking that it would advance my understanding of how to choose colors for Fair Isle, and improve my technique for both types of color work, but these techniques were only touched upon. A nice collection of patterns, and good information, but didn’t live up to what I’d dreamed of based on the title.

Once you have mastered the basics of knitting, the next thing you would want to be getting to grips with is playing with colour. This book is an excellent introduction to the various techniques used when working with colour. Packed with clear illustrations and good explanations, it guided the novice through the techniques with various projects.
A useful reference book for those who are trying out the next stages of knitting.

Great book, with some excellent tips for beginners, but also handy reminders for more experienced knitters. Some nice patterns to try out. I would have liked some more pictures of different colour combinations and how knitting with different dominant colours look, but overall a great book.

Beginner's Guide to Colorwork Knitting is a tutorial knitting guide with instructions for 16 projects which integrate color changes in the patterns for different items using different colorwork techniques. Released 19th March 2019 by Sewandso, it's 128 pages and available in ebook and paperback formats.

The book is written in an encouraging and accessible manner. There is a distinct 'you can do it' vibe throughout, which I found charming. The book's introductory chapter (about 20% of the total content), has a surprisingly comprehensive discussion of color theory. The introductory chapter does not include any instruction on how to cast on or knit, that info is provided at the back of the book in the final appendix chapter.

The tutorial project chapters are arranged very roughly in order of ascending difficulty. The first project is a striped rectangular scarf in garter stitch which shouldn't be beyond the capabilities of anyone who has learnt to cast on and knit. This would also make a good stash buster project for those of us with odds and ends of balls of yarn collected over the course of other projects.

The next projects in the section introduce shaping (chevron blanket), colorwork in the round (with a nice trick for getting 'jogless' row shifts), and carrying unused colors up the side of the work.

There are also other projects which have tutorials for slipped stitch colorwork, stranded work, intarsia, double knitting, modular knitting, and entrelac. The projects themselves are a mixed lot, with some very pretty accessories and soft furnishing included.

The lack of a visual gallery style index detracted a bit in my opinion. There is no main listing (in my eARC) of all the projects together.

Well written, very basic projects, with a good selection of techniques.

Four stars, aimed at beginning knitters or knitters looking to add a few techniques to their repertoire.

The patterns in this book look good, and show exactly how they are made. I have done some colour work in the past, and found myself with a giant headache trying to keep the instructions clear. Some patterns are a bit more difficult, but the instructions given are helpful and informative. Worth a look if you want to get into knitting with colour.

This is a really fun book for both beginning and intermediate knitters. Easy to read and with photos and suggestions for yarn, it's a worthwhile purchase.

Such a well written guide for the beginning color knitter (me)...I especially appreciated the explanations for the striped socks and carrying the colors inside the sock...great photography and some beautiful patterns to learn with. The Brick Stitch washcloths are a joy to knit. I look forward to stitching the Thorn Stitch Shawl, too.

A very attractive book that gives clear step by step instructions and supporting colour photos to introduce a variety of colour work techniques. The projects are varied and introduce the techniques to allow you to build your confidence. There are also more challenging projects to allow the more experienced knitter to learn something new too. The projects are modern and attractive and I look forward to working through them and learning some new skills.

These are some great, fairly easy colorwork patterns that set up techniques and ideas to help knitters build their skill set and create even better pieces.

The Beginner's Guide to Colorwork Knitting is a great resource for knitters who are ready to try using more than one color in their pieces. It is well suited for knitters who have a good handle on basic knitting skills (knit, purl, increasing, and decreasing). The instructions on how to incorporate new strands of yarn are very clear and informative. The projects themselves are well designed with clear instructions. I like the variety of different projects.

As the title states, this book is geared at knitters who are new to knitting with more than one colour. I give it 4 stars only because the projects and patterns may not be as interesting to advanced knitters.

This book really is exactly what it claims to be. Early chapters deal with basic color theory, then knitting supplies, and information about yarn types and characteristics. Austin also discusses reading color charts, and how they are used in knitting projects.

Several of the projects are stripes, a basic, but potentially very exciting way to experiment with color interplay. Slipped stitches, mosaic knitting, stranded color work and intarsia all get projects of their own, with careful and explicit explanations of the techniques used.

This book will appeal to the beginning knitter who is looking to expand their skill set.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

What a fun book! When I saw the title about colorwork, I thought the focus would be stranded knitting, but instead this book offers a progression from simple stripes to mosaic to stranded (in the round and flat) with steaks, to entrelac, intarsia, and modular and double knitting. In addition, the introduction offers a brief introduction to color theory to help you choose colors that work together. Plus included in each of the original (and really cute!) pattern is tips about weaving in ends and finishing your project. I’m looking forward to making the Monochrome Mitts and the Chunky Hat. And the Chevron Blanket. I’m so happy to have this beautiful book in my library.

This books provides a great tour of techniques for making colorful knits. It is perfect for the knitter who has mastered basic knitting and is ready to move on to more advanced skills. Each chapter introduces a different method, and a newer knitter can use it to decide which new avenue to pursue, or try each one for a trip-around-the-world of the craft.

It starts with simple stripes and moves through a variety of techniques including stranded colorwork, intarsia, double knitting, etc. The pictures are helpful, and both English and Continental styles are addressed.
