Set in Australia this remarkable story spans two time frames, the 1930s and present day. A dusty old guest book leads to the discovery of an old family secret. An interesting story with depth of emotion.
An absolute treat of a book. I loved it. Telling the story across two time frames, the original Miss Allen’s and their great grand daughters. Beautifully written and perfectly crafted to ensure no loose ends. Everything about it was just perfect. I can’t wait to read more by the same author.
How long do you think it would take a family's descendants to , forget a member. In 1935 there were three miss Allens. In 2016 the daughters of two of the sisters know of only two. What happened to the third?
The story is told in two time frames - 1935 the era of Ruby, Adeline and Clara, and 2016 with Roma and Addy. Roma buys a run down guest house which, when she and Addy are doing it up, they find that their great, great grandmothers stayed there. In 1935 the family broke apart and it seems as though in 2016 the house is trying to mend the rift - and bring some peace to the occupants.
I finished this book yesterday evening and it haunted my dreams. A sad/happy booked.
This book is a smashing, emotional read. I loved it.
Thank you sot NetGalley and to the publisher for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.
A book which tells of the lives of three women in the past and their relatives now. It was easy to follow the stories, usually I do not find two storylines easy but in this case it was interesting to see what happened to the Allens then the younger family. I would recommend this book.
Loved the cover, which initially drew me to to this book. Has to be one of my favourite reads this year! I am not usually fond of stories with different time lines as i normally get annoyed with the switching, but not with 'The Three Miss Allens'. Loved the characters and loved the setting. I am not going to write what the story is about as i prefer one to read the story for themselves, but i do recommend. It is the first time that i have read a book by Victoria Purman and hope to read more of her books sooner or later.
My thanks to Netgalley and the Publishers for my copy.

I loved how the writer mixes the two different timelines and the well written characters.
Ms Putnam can surely write a book that will keep you hooked till the last page and how to make you root for her characters.
