I enjoyed the previous book by this author and this was no different. Good storyline with twists and turns to keeo you reading. I think that some of the direction of storyline was obviously, although there were enough red herrings to throw you off. I felt that the ending seemed a bit rushed. However, overall I enjoyed it and I would recommend it as a good read.
When Ella receives an anonymous note through the letter box informing her that her husband is having an affair her world comes crashing down . She thought she had the perfect life and the perfect house . She gets her new friend Alice to move in to help with the bills temporarily but we soon realise that Alice has her own agenda and reason to be at 46 Heath Street . The story is told both in the present and 20 years previously from a diary written by Ella's mother in law . The whole family endured a horrendous life with her husband and as the story progresses so does his bullying . I did feel for Ella as this is the first home that she has felt safe and secure in and its clear that someone want's her to leave . A good read thank you for the opportunity .
Your husband is having an affair.
Six words written in neat block letters.
Six words slipped through her letterbox, destroying her marriage, exposing Ella’s perfect life as perfect lies.
But Ella has a plan: Alice is the answer to her problems. A lodger, to help keep her afloat, a friend, to keep the loneliness at bay.
Only Alice has her own reasons for wanting to live at 46 Heath Street…
Thank you to net galley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book
I was really looking forward to this book after reading the synopsis but unfortunately I was disappointed. I worked out what was happening before I got to the end, which doesn't put me off usually, but I felt the ending was a bit rushed.
Description
The last letter is addressed to me. No stamp, swirly handwriting in black ink. I pull out a piece of paper, stiffening when I read the message. Hands trembling, the note slides to the floor.

** Thank you, NetGalley for the advance copy of the book: "the Lady at 46 Heath Street".
I thoroughly enjoy the book. It was a page-turner. I did indeed finish this in one sitting. A very well written book and I have connected Ella. What a hot mess the past was and how it connected with Chris, Alice, and Ella.
I will recommend this one. Very nice.
I received a copy of this book through netgalley.
A well written plot with good built up of the characters throughout the book, could not put the book down a real page turner, kept the reader in suspence till the very end.
Looking forward to reading more books from this writter.
It would appear that Ella’s storytale life has just taken a nasty turn into what looks more like a Grimm’s storytale. With proof her husband is having an affair, Ella feels completely alone in the world. Perhaps taking in a lodger would help with the bills and the loneliness. Alice is only to happy to step into that role, becoming a friend as well as a lodger….. or so it would appear. Readers may be able to guess Alice’s motivation, but this is still a fun thrill ride and a nice diversion from everyday life
A fantastic mystery thriller. Ella has the perfect life or so she thinks.

Having read and enjoyed The Orchid Girls, I was thrilled to be approved for Sanderson's second novel, The Woman at 46 Heath Street. I'm a big fan of her writing, the way she manages to reel you in and immerse you in the story.
I read this in a day. I was so absorbed by the characters, Ella and Alice, and although I suspected Alice's true intentions from early on, the ride was no less thrilling. I love a good domestic thriller, characters so real and immersive that you feel as if you're there with then. Sanderson has the ability to weave a strong, enthralling tale, with multiple themes layered upon one another. Another brilliant read.
Very clever mystery/thriller that had me hooked from the fist page! Ella is living the life she so hoped for as a child. She has a wonderful husband, lives in the beautiful family home at 46 Heath Street. One day a letter is sent through the mail that upends all she holds dear. Her husband is having an affair with an unknown woman and a new friend arrives to help out. Is anything what it seems? Who are these "new" people in their lives and what will become of 46 Heath Street? The house holds all the secrets...and answers.
Ella and Chris are married. However things are not going so well. Chris is leaving Ella for an (unspecified) other woman. Chris' mother, Nancy, had passed away less than a year ago. Ella had helped her with all of her physical and emotional struggles. Ella felt as if Nancy was a true mother to her - Ella was in foster care as a child and teen. Ella did not want to leave that house.
Nancy had been married to Edward in 1976. They had bought the house Chris and Ella now live in. Chris wants his "new love" to move in with him but needs money in excess of his pay. He puts the house that Ella loves (and rightfully owns, as well) up for sale.
Ella finds a renter at her yoga class to take a room in the house for the time being . Alice (the renter) and Ella become friends and Ella leans heavily for on Alice for emotional support. But, the reader is quickly on to the fact that Alice has some sort of hidden agenda.
Where/why is Chris spending so much money that the mortgage is again due, he has to sell his car and has maxed out the credit cards? Who is this'new "love"?
A very fast-paced brilliant novel in which character development is strong and a plot that keeps you in suspense until that last page! To me, one of 2019's best!
Many Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for a splendid thrill-ride!
