I didn't find this book to be helpful at all. I had a hard time finishing it, as I felt that most of the information isn't helpful to use over an extended period and there were far too many tables.
I was expecting this book to give me some useful tips for getting more energy, but these are hidden in a lot of tests and tables that are not very interesting. Several of the tips are based on popular misconceptions instead of science, and therefore not good. The author has obviously put down a lot of work, but the content is not very accessible.
There are some excellent suggestions here. I have a lot of mixed feelings about the questions (beginnings of chapters and elsewhere) since some readers could misinterpret or unnecessarily freak out by thinking 1-2 symptoms describes a condition they may have and send them down the wrong rabbit hole. The key to avoiding this is doing the diaries (which are very good) and being conservative in thinking about the potential conditions listed -- It might be necessary to emphasis this more in the book -- and then following up w a doctor. The diaries should be helpful to any physician. I think there are some inferior suggestions (e.g. avoid green tea until your used to caffeine -- well then the author should suggest decaffeinated green tea... This is a nit-pick, yes). She also mentions/suggests 5-HTP but doesn't mention that it can cause headaches (I stopped using it for this reason).
This book, if followed heavily, creates a lot of work for readers and will also take a long time to utilize. This can ultimately be a good thing. But again, maybe fair warning in the intro...
But I don't want to seem too negative. There are some excellent suggestions plus some really good info here! It just needs to be used carefully, in my opinion.
It's obvious I have mixed feelings about this book. In the end, I'd say read with caution and carefully choose what you take from it (and always get a second opinion from some other sources; written or otherwise).
