The Art Lover's Guide to Paris is just that - a guide book.

I have been to Paris numerous times and did not really find "off the beaten path" locations.

As a guide book for people who have not been to Paris is great.

What a dream trip this would be! I loved all the day trip excursions that were laid out - to ancient and contemporary art at galleries and museums scattered throughout the city.
Great guides like this take the stress of trip planning of your shoulders and also has wonderful ideas and suggestions for a memorable vacation!

This is nothing more than a compendium/directory of art museums, accompanied by nice photos. As such it is a good reference guide. However, the information on each museum is scanty, at best.

I love Paris. Every time I step my foot in this magnificent city, I'm fascinated by its history and culture. Paris is not just a city, it's a world. Coming upon "Art Lover's Guide to Paris" book on NetGalley was a pleasant surprise. This is a very simple, short guide to all must-see museums, galleries, artist's houses, and studios, restaurants, hotels, brasseries. It even includes chateaus that are locating a short distance away from Paris. The guide includes a short description of every place, including a little history and its addresses, which is incredibly helpful. Having been to Paris multiple times, I've visited probably 1/3 of the sites from the guide, and now I have a new list of places I will visit the next time I'm in the city of lights.

Thank you NetGalley and White Owl Publishers for an advanced copy of the book and Ruby Boukabou for creating a phenomenal guide of Paris' most magnificent places.

A great travel guide if you ever go to Paris, and still a great book even if you will never travel to Paris. It gives you the ins and outs to find some hidden treasures.

To be honest, I was a little disappointed. I wasn't very surprised when I discovered that it was some sort of tourist guide book, but I expected it to be more than that --- the stuff included was pretty basic.

I really enjoyed the photography in this book, but I found the contents to be a little more “basic” than what I expected. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced reader’s copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Pen & Sword Publishing/White Owl for the ARC I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This book is a fascinating reading even if you aren't going to Paris. It's a really great guide for those of us who have only been to Paris once or twice. Paris can definitely be.overwhelming, this helps get things in perspective. I loved the photography as well. Thanks for this great book. 5 stars

As a shameless French culture enthusiast, this travel guidebook was an amazing find. I usually don't pick up travel guides, but this one looked very interesting. I was not disappointed. The book introduces some very iconic cultural sites as well as some that are a bit more hidden. There are so many locations as well as ideas for a visit. Although it lacks a bit of description and depth into each site, the guidebook gives enough so that it intrigues you to find out more. It's wonderful for someone who would like to see as much of Paris as possible while appreciating the well-known or obscure, busy or quiet, but utterly beautiful attractions.

I wish I had read this book when I before I went to Paris, because this book has a lot of useful information I could have used. There was so much I missed seeing and this book would have helped me see more. A methodology art lovers of you plan on going to Paris.

This guide provided me with both nostalgic returns to places that I have visited and excitement about so many art venues that I have yet to see. I think that it is a great resource for travelers both real and armchair.

The author starts with a brief history of art in Paris. She begins with Charlemagne and moves on through the centuries. This provides a good orientation for the reader.

The book is then helpfully organized by categories. These include Museums, Foundations & Institutions; Galleries; Photography; Architecture and so on. There are additional chapters on topics including How to Attend an Art Auction, Arty cafes, restaurants and hotels and Arty Day Trips. Throughout there are many photographs and tips. There is truly something to be found for every art lover here.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this e-galley. I plan to buy the print book before my next trip!

A delightful book for your next trip to Paris. OR, your next "wishing I was there" daydream about Paris. Many of these museums and galleries are well known, but the writer and discovered an awful lot that most tourists don't know about.

First, it must be established that this is a travel guidebook, not an art book. It will be a welcome addition to our travel section. I don’t think anyone would put it in an art section. As a guidebook, it’s gorgeous. It makes me want to return to Paris, as I obviously missed a lot. I could imagine going to Paris with this as my only guidebook. It would make for a different kind of trip for sure. I found it pretty thorough in that it has a lot of locations and ideas. It doesn’t have a lot of depth, but it isn’t that kind of book. It’s not for an art historian to research, but it would certainly help one find somewhere new to view some type of artwork. It does have a lot of breadth. It’s for the traveler who wants to see as much art as possible in Paris and wants to see well-known museums, lesser known ones, street art, public art, large and small galleries, gorgeous architecture, even cemeteries, and more. For that purpose, it’s perfect.

I was expecting something more sophisticated, but I suppose if you're previously unfamiliar with Paris and are an art newbie, this would be a pretty solid guide for getting started.

I was hoping for something a bit less basic ("How to attend an art auction?" Le sigh) and written for an audience more educated on the subject. I also found the organization (or lack thereof) frustrating. Galleries, museums, etc are not in alphabetical (or seemingly any ) order when listed, which makes the book difficult to navigate and not great as take-along reference material for a trip.

That said, the photography was good and I enjoyed the sections on street art, fountains, and cemeteries.
