I would never want to be one of Lottie Parker's family members! Honestly, I believe there is little these kids haven't experienced apart from death. This sixth installment of the series was once again a wild ride, difficult to put down, though the ending was maybe not entirely unexpected. I just like Patricia Gibney's writing and her slightly exaggerated imagination. Not to be missed if you are into this series.

The 6th outing for Lottie Parker and while i did enjoy it I have to say it wasnt my favourite in the series.

Two girls are found murdered in a derelict house, both having their throats slit and a plain silver coin left beside them. Could the killings be connected to recent release of a prisoner who has returned to Ragmullin after spending the last decade in prison?
Lottie and her team are on the case and when two more bodies turn up they are convinced that the ex con is their man. But are there other secrets in Ragmullins past? A web of deception and secrets that could lead eventually to finding the killer.

We also have a side story of Lotties "mad" half sister who is released from care for a day but manages to escape and look to exact revenge on Lottie and her family.

So this was enjoyable overall, it always is spending time with Lottie and her team. The slight misgiving I have is the strength of the story. Lottie and her family again are under threat and it just seems to happen in every book now. The family stuff just seemed a distraction in this book, the half sister story a little fantastical.

Despite these misgivings, this is still a very enjoyable read. Lottie is a fantastic character to spend time with. The series is so strong that nothing short of greatness stands out a mile and theres a bit of that here.

Firstly: This was my first experience with this author. If you're already a fan and/or have read any of her previous books, you will most likely be a fan of this one as well.
For me, coming in on book #6 in a series...I guess I couldn't appreciate it. In general I love mysteries, thrillers, detective stories, but this one was just 'meh" for me. There were waaayyyy too many characters, both new and old, and waaayyy too many dangling threads from former plotlines in earlier books being woven together and frankly it was just too much. I couldn't find a natural flow to the story, and I was just not engaged at all with any of the characters. For the first half of the book I felt completely lost.
The detective/police department as a whole seemed a little bumbling and a lot unprofessional.
Some of the characters were so forgettable that I found myself having to go back a couple of chapters to refresh myself on their place in the story.
The dialogue was mostly awkward and in many places just seemed...unfinished, like it wasn't properly thought out with a point or even a stopping place.
It took me about 10 days to slog through this book, which is about 8 or 9 days longer than usual for me.
It wasn't terrible, and it was pretty well-written, it just wasn't remarkable in my opinion.
I do feel that if I were to have read some of the earlier books I might've had a more favorable and enjoyable experience. This is definitely not a stand-alone book. My advice? Read the other books in the series first before you decide whether or not to try this one.

Final Betrayal – Patricia Gibney

Patricia Gibney goes from strength to strength and the DI Lottie Parker series get better and better. As soon as I finish one I’m anxious to find out when the next one is going to hit the shelves.

After all the bombshells in the previous novel I was so hoping for a smooth transition from her mums to the new house I really wanted it to be the new start that she deserves. When all said and done Lottie and her family have had a pretty tough couple of years. But such is her luck it’s the exact opposite and its not only in her personal life, work isn’t much better with a serial killer on the loose. It’s not all doom and gloom for Lottie there’s her grandson Louis and of course her long suffering partner DS Boyd the budding romance.

Immediately we are taken to an abandoned house, one of many in that area where Lottie two young girls brutally murdered by two young men rather worse for wear, heck of a way to sober up eh? The biggest clue they have is a couple of silver coins, although initially her partner Boyd shrugs them off. To make matters worse her stepbrother Leo Bellfield keeps phoning, she just knows that it’s going to be bad news the worst kind of bad and it is. Then Conor Dowling jailed for aggravated burglary is being released home to his mothers house in Ragmullen and it all just seems too convenient or is it?

I could keep going on with things on her plate but it would spoil it so I’m going to stop and leave some bits for you find out yourself.

If you’ve never read any of Patricia Gibneys work and you like a pretty decent psychological thriller take a punt on either the DI Parker books, you never know you might find a new author to add to your list.

It was good to be back in Ragmullin again. I have followed the series from the beginning with Lottie, Boyd and the team. Boyd is adorable, and I love the way he is portrayed. This time Lottie’s past interferes and jeopardises the present. It’s the familiar guts and gore, gripping and slick mastery I’ve come to expect in this series with humour. It’s a fairly complex plot. I hit a very gripping part and was startled by the telephone. Cold call. Got back to my Kindle which decided to do an update in my absence. How frustrating is that?! I couldn’t help thinking while I was reading that I’ll never understand the stupidity of women who risk roaming the streets after dark – at any age. Such foolishness disturbs me. Don’t they fear attack or are they arrogant enough to think it couldn’t happen to them? Why do the detectives issue the families with false hope and meaningless platitudes that they will find the missing person when there is no guarantee? Thrilled with the cliff-edge ending! That indicates a Book 7. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this absorbing novel.

Another fast paced, complex case for Lottie and her team where personal and professional issues collide yet again. Whilst this is a decent read the focus on harm being done to her and her family in every book is becoming tiresome

I enjoy this series - Lottie is a widow struggling to provide security and stability for her family. Great plot, twists and fast paced. Some areas lagged.
Overall, a good read and addition to the series.

My least favourite book so far. The deaths of four young girls so quickly just did not bode well with me . I could not see the purpose . Also bizarre the story of her half sister and brother. It did not make sense that a criminally insane killer was allowed a day pass. I like Lottie as a character but find it unfortunate her children are so exposed to her job. The loss of their father is enough toil for these youngsters. They do not need to be continually involved with death and the hazards of Lottie ‘s job. A book that showed the evil that exists and the hate people have .

This was a decent read and I must say, I love this series. There's something about Lottie Parker that makes you want to know more about her and her life. I don't think she's actually a great detective but she does, in her own bumbling way, solve cases. I love her team, and I am sure that they are responsible for a lot of those solved cases.
This novel starts with the murder of two girls, shortly after two more girls are murdered. Lottie and the team have no idea where to start and the investigation is going nowhere. Eventually clues are uncovered and then Lottie's daughters go missing. This is where the story picks up and things start to happen.
I liked the ending, and can't wait to read the next in the series. Will Lottie finally put her family before her job?

Another fantastic book in the Lottie Parker series by Patricia Gibney. Detective Lottie Parker in Final Betrayal, is faced with one of her most challenging cases to date, the double murder of two young girls in their twenties. An old foe, also returns, who is determined to get revenge on her. I really enjoyed this book and I'm sure previous fans of the series will be pleased with this new offering.

Well the fabulous Patricia Gibney has created a sure fire hit here with book six of this amazing series featuring DI Lottie Parker and it’s a belter of a read. Right from page one we are plunged headlong into missing girls, an old case and Lottie’s very disturbing past coming back to haunt her and oh boy it really does this time with Leo Bellfield and the crazy Bernie Kelly on the loose !! Lottie struggles with her old demons and the irritating and decidedly pompous Superintendent McMahon who certainly does not make her life easy and with bodies piling up this is a thrill of a ride from start to finish. Patricia Gibney sure knows how to write a brilliant story and I just can’t fault her books as right from book one the series grips you and now we are are book 6 and the pace hasn’t let up and so I for one can’t wait for book seven. With excellent writing, plot and characters this is a book/series not to be missed and highly recommended with all the stars.

YES.... back to Ragmullin we go for another crime thriller to be solved by Lottie Parker, I just love this series! Lottie is on the case when two local girls are murdered and found in a doss house with their throats slit and plain round silver coins left under their bodies, the killer's calling card perhaps?.... one of those girls is the daughter of the local councilor so as always the pressure is on Lottie.

In the meantime, Conor Dowling who was found guilty of aggravated burglary and sentenced to 10 years in prison comes back to Ragmullin, is the timing right? Is he back to exact revenge on those who helped put him behind bars?

As and aside, poor Lottie never gets to deal with just work, her personal history/family is coming back to bite her in the ass once again... with Leo Belfield back in Ragmullin (Lottie's half brother who is an NYPD Captain) having managed to get their other half sister a day release from a secure psychiatric unit... you know things are not going to end well!!!

As for the Lottie's captain at work, can I offer that I would just like to slap him about the face with a wet fish, he is the most impersonal prat I have ever had the displeasure of reading about, what an absolute ass, where is his empathy to Lottie's situation, to him, its all about HIS reputation, HIS budgets etc grrrrrrrr

Venting done, I absolutely loved this book, I love this series, I can never say a bad word against them, they reel you in and grip you from the getgo, its like a rollercoaster which so much going on and twists and turns, your neck will be sore, is it too early to ask when the next one is ready???? #Agirlcanwish!

This was a great read I like the character of Lottie Parker she complicated but also very real.

It had some good twists and turns with a man release from prison after 10 years , two women goes out get separates and then both find murder as D.I Lottie investigate this crimes another murder happen all the awhile her children are in danger.

Brilliant. I love this series and the characters and this, the sixth in the series, is as engaging a read as the rest. Lottie’s fresh start is at risk as her past and old cases threaten those closest to her. Great character development as the main and sub plots collide. Ragmullin again is rocked by crime and it’s a race against time for Lottie and co to find the culprits as the bodies continue to stack up.

I've read all the previous Lottie Parker books by Patricia Gibney and really enjoy this series, so for a richer reading experience start with 'The Missing Ones'. It was great to be back with Lottie in Ragmullin on her latest case. It centres around a serial killer who is after young girls. As always there's a lot of Lottie's personal life in the story, I like this, and enjoy following the ups and downs of her complex and highly stressful life! I didn't find I wanted to grab and shake Lottie so much in this book; she has been known to drive me crazy at times! It's good to see her trying to let in the good influences, like Boyd and come to terms with the past loss in her life. It is frustrating to see this journey take such a long time, but grief is frustrating and seems never-ending. Lottie is now finding a way to move on for her sake and for those around her.
So back to the crime - there's threads in this story that will eventually collide. A man is released from prison after serving a 10 year sentence; two women go missing after a night out and are found murdered; a property developing team find something disturbing whilst building and for Lottie someone from the past is able to return and once again threaten both herself and her family.
I think my main 'eye-roll' (sorry Patricia) is that Lottie's children are again in danger - boy are they an unlucky bunch! I like to see them in these books and their continuing story, but I think I am starting to be pulled out of the story when it's one of the family that is in danger again? They'd need a permanent councillor living with them to cope - lol!
Anyway, besides from that, I always enjoy these books and am really looking forward to the next one. Many thanks to Patricia Gibney for all her work on creating these for us! I'm a happy reader!

Omg, this woman, I could shake her, fantastic read, on the edge of my seat, my poor husband had to go hungry as I wasn't putting this down, Lottie and and her poor family, how do they put up with her, she's very believable, kept me guessing till the end, wow.

This is the 6th book in the Detective Lottie Parker series. There is a serial killer on the loose murdering young women and soon the case hits too close to Lottie and her family.

As with previous books in the series the plot is suspenseful and the characters and their interactions are real and engaging. However I thought the writing got somehow too descriptive in some parts, thus, slowing down the pace. But overall an enjoyable addition to the series.
